Complete scam
Complete scam. Unfortunately Shopify uses them as a partner for shipping insurance. I have no idea why a company like Shopify would use a partner like this. The amount of work and redtape they make you go through for a legitimate claim is nothing short of a scam. They have no intentions of paying claims. If you have a claim, you better hop you followed their T&Cs to a T or else they will find every loophole they can. If you ship on Shopify or any other platform - avoid adding the shipping insurance as they will do everything they can to NOT HELP YOU. Save the money.
CLAIM ARGGD-102521140248
A SCAMMER IS ALWAYS A SCAMMER!! After posting the review here, they were quick to leave a comment and asked to contact them with a case number so they can look at. I was dumb enough to do it, emailed them, and they replied like this: "The claim has been closed. Loss, damage, shortage, or non-arrival of any parcel or freight and the contents when it is obtained by trick, false pretense, or other fraudulent schemes is excluded from coverage." Lmfao, this is exactly what I have gotten from the first day, no explanations what exactly the "trick" here when I put a f**ing long essay together to prove my situation. EVERYONE BEWARE! They're active here so they can pretend like having a good customer service but will straight denying your claims just to run away from covering you. DO NOT make the same mistake as me.
Shipsurance is a company that cannot be…
Shipsurance is a company that cannot be trusted! In June I mailed a package valued at $220 by USPS with signature confirmation through Pirateship. The package was lost in the mail and is still listed as in transit. I sent in all of the information requested by the due date. The company then asked me to have the recipient complete an affidavit confirming that the package was never received. I explained to Pirateship that the recipient's sister purchased the package and I had no contact at all with the actual recipient. I was confused about the affidavit since Pirateship is showing that the box was never delivered. I explained this and Shipsurance stated that the affidavit must be signed or the need verification of a charge-off or refunded. I had already provided proof that the basket I customized was replaced and there was no refund or charge off. Well, Shipsurance denied the claim although I had provided everything I had. I was the purchaser of the insurance and I had no idea that I would need to have someone else to provide information besides myself. How could I possibly get someone to complete a form that I have never met or communicated with? You would think that verification that I replaced the basket would have been sufficient. Pirateship then tells me I could appeal the decision and provide details about the affidavit. Well, I have provided everything and I have nothing new to tell them. I may still attempt the appeal however, if they ignored the information before why would they pay attention to the exact same information now? I also contacted Shipsurance and was informed they do not speak with purchasers of their insurance but only sellers. I sent an email and never received a response. I also left a voice mail for Val, the Pirateship representative, and received no response. I honestly believe Pirateship nor Shipsurance took the time to review all of the screenshots and the information I provided. After all, it's not their loss. Be careful if you utilize this company.
Refused to Pay for Lost Item
Sold at item for $1,000.00. Buyer paid Paypal Goods and Services, invoice was generated. Shipped said item via UPS, with Shipinsurance bought from Pirateship.com. Item insured for $1,000.00. UPS lost item. Claim filed on November 1, 2021, all documentation provided. Claim was denied on November 5, 2021 claiming an exclusion relatd to "Sports cards being sent in for grading". Improper denial of claim. EDIT- They paid out on the claim after being contacted.
Horrible
Horrible. UPS insurance is better and that's not saying much. I sent all the paperwork they requested just to get denied. Don't waste your money or time with this company!
Manufacturer's packaging
I'm very glad that my insurance claim was reconsidered for approval after we sent the letter explaining more details about the incident. I also take note seriously the policy that: "ALL packages must be sent in packaging, labeling, and taping that has NOTHING to do with the item." Insuring all my packages is really important to make sure that I can recover from any incidental damages on the package. I am confident that Shipsurance is always there to give protection/coverage on my shipments. ALem3 / ALem3Marktplatz
We've worked with different package…
We've worked with different package insurance companies in the past. So far, Shipsurance is the only one that promises and commits. No back and forth, follow the steps as required, and get approved.
Very professional
Very professional. No problem with chargebacks.

Horrible
Horrible. I had to keep submitting my materials to the same agent who either ignored the information I sent or was purposely delaying my claim by pretending she did not have it. I sent the claim information 3 times and finally had to reach out to a supervisor. The claim stretched out for months and was only $99
I’ve been using ShipSurance package…
I’ve been using ShipSurance package insurance for about 12 years. It is an insurance company, with a written policy which is a contract. I have followed the policy requirements for claims scrupulously and have NEVER had a claim denied. Any issues I have had have been resolved professionally. The online programs they use are easy to follow and use. They are mu #1 choice for a package insurer!
