Hybrid ASHP and solar

We just had a hybrid ASHP and gas boiler fitted, then solar panels and battery a week later. 3 days work in total. The technicians were great. No mess and really efficient work. I highly recommend this company.

So far we've had a good experience with…

So far we've had a good experience with GE. Our hybrid heat pump system was installed a week ago and everything is working well but of course it's too soon to say if we'll save any money or be warm enough in really cold weather. If the system performs well over time then GE would deserve five stars. We contacted GE initially and a sales person came out but there was no hard sell approach. Instead we looked at some projected numbers and had everything explained. We were then advised to take a few days to think it through. GEs estimate for how long it would take were accurate. You are dependent on Home Energy Scotland to process an application if you want government help to pay for it. In our case we're getting about half the cash from the government. There is form filling to do and GE were very helpful in providing guidance. The installation itself was done in a day and the system was soon working well. We are using more electricity and less gas now, which we regard as a good thing, Scottish electricity being essentially from renewables. So at this point it feels like a success and GE have been there every step of the way. I certainly recommend considering this company if you are interested in getting a hybrid heat pump system.

BE VERY CAREFUL

BE VERY CAREFUL. Buyers beware - don't sign a contract with this company until you have your Energy Scotland loan in place and you have double checked all their figure work. We weren't told about on costs which made any savings null and void in fact it would have ended up costing us more money. We found out about these by accident when the technician came to check installation options. They also did an EPC upfront (it is in their contract that they MAY do one). Our house was only 5 years old so should not have needed one done ahead of installation. Energy Scotland do not need a new EPC until after installation. So have no idea why one was done before on a relatively new house. After careful consideration we decided not to go ahead and cancelled the contract because it would have cost has more money each year, but because they did the EPC they are refusing to give our deposit back.

Refused to give me a quote unless I had my wife present. Apparently, according to their call handler, it is for consumer protection which is nonsense.
