Dismayed at National Trust leadership

Like many others I have been dismayed by the attitude of the National trust leadership. I have been a member for 29 years and used to go with my parent's as a child in the 60s and 70s. They should just get on with looking after the wonderful treasures they have been gifted, rather than constantly trying to score political points. I have now left and joined Historic houses instead.

The Trust has lost it’s way and it’s loyal members.

I have been a member for many years, I won’t be joining again after this year. I upgraded my membership to include my now retired, senior partner last April. I carried on paying my direct debit monthly but the trust failed (they say) to collect the money for the upgrade. They at no time notified me that this had failed. Come renewal and they took a full year, without notice, in breach of direct debit rules according to my bank. They now have a cancelled membership, an upset ex member and a direct debit they won’t be getting again. I won’t be rejoining and I was about to buy gift membership for my son, daughter in law and their newly adopted daughter. They will now be joining the Welsh trust along with us. I have been dissatisfied for some time with the Woke culture, closed shops, lack of cafe’s and Covid excuses for no staff. This ends my association with an organisation that has lost its way.

land-grabbing nanny-state fascists

land-grabbing nanny-state fascists. vast swathes of once pristine countryside fenced off and covered in car parks, coach parks, tea-rooms, restaurants, souvenir shops, visitor centres.....all in the name of 'conservation'.

Asked them to cancel my membership via…

Asked them to cancel my membership via email. They asked me for my address to confirm my identity. I sent them my address. As far as I'm concerned that's a request for cancelation completed. However, they continued to take my money and refuse to refund, citing my nonreply to a begging email as evidence that I had not canceled. Disgusting and dishonest.

We have cancelled our membership

We have cancelled our membership. The woke culture in the National Trust and their behaviour in recent time makes it poor value and no longer worthy of our support.

This organisation needs stopping and to…

This organisation needs stopping and to be forced into a change of course - they no longer protect our national treasures... in Devon they have taken land gifted to them by a local resident and are selling it to a housing developer. Bonds Meadow is 3 acres of rich wildlife used by the local community and donated to the NT who are selling it for housing to spend the money on their headquarters rather than even selling it to the locals. Help stop this #SaveBondsMeadow

Gone down hill

We went for a Sunday day out to Dunster Castle but should have stayed at home in Ilfracombe, truly shocking day and will never visit a National Trust site again, they have lost their way and seem to be a organisation in decline.

Bodnant Garden woes

Have visited Bodnant Gardens today. Many footpaths are inaccessible as well as no seating for at the Dell food kiosk due to COVID regulations overkill. Had to stand while eating expensive gristly Cornish pasties which should be avoided. Generally not a good experience.

Lost their way

If you can find a national trust property that's actually open, you'll find when you get inside all the room information and history leaflets they used to supply no longer exists, so you end up walking through the building with no idea about past lives or history, if I wanted to do that I'd stroll round a antiques shop.

The once mighty national trust…

The once mighty national trust continues to decline. Access to properties has been increasingly restricted over past 3 years with rooms and floors taken out of public viewing. Now most properties are completely closed for 6 weeks while restoration work is done apparently. It's the management that needs restoration as all this work could have been done during lockdown.
