Cancelled mine too

Cancelled mine too – would echo most of the reviews here. If I’m supporting a charity I’m not expecting it to be paying very generous salaries or commissioning dubious reports with a political agenda that I don’t support. I have no difficulty in clearly offensive articles being removed from prominence, or other perspectives being added to the narrative, but it’s gone too far in my opinion.

A cumbersome website with little…

A cumbersome website with little details. We are members of the national trust, but when we moved house we changed the address on the website. But 6 weeks later, our membership cards get sent out to the old address, it was lucky that they were honest to say that it was there. Poor.

Unwelcome and unwanted

So disappointed with the booking in advance system. Went to The Roman Fort Homestead yesterday. I didn't know it was a National Trust property. It was 1pm and there were plenty of unbooked spaces. I had my phone and was advised to use it to book in. No signal and no offer of WiFi to use. The place was denied to us. Tried to book for another place today...'Sales Ended' Staff were unfriendly unhelpful and we were unwelcome. Thats another 2 members money you will not be getting. Any other company selling tickets would keep selling until sold out. I just don't understand why NT have chosen to treat us so poorly.

And another institution joins the bandwagon !

My first reaction to the Report is firstly disgust. The National Trust have been guardians over these properties for a long time and I can only conclude that, like Dr Fischer at The British Museum, have seen this as an opportunity to jump on the Woke/BLM bandwagon and indulge yourselves in corporate virtue-signalling. In the wake of George Floyd’s death, Black activists and their fellow leftist white travellers have resurrected issues from our past to indulge in anti-white, anti-British and anti-capitalist invective. And you, to your shame have joined them by abusing your position to politicise the Trust’s primary role. And it is because you actually believe that Europeans invented slavery and empire. The Report is ahistorical and lopsided and based on the usual treatment of history through the ethics and morality of the 20th/21st century rather than the norms and mores of the time. And you get away with this because the vast majority of the British public are fed this nonsense on a daily basis without challenge. To understand the kind of people who work for/influence the Trust just google one of the Report's editors, Corinne Fowler. There is a long tradition of anti-English sentiment amongst smug leftists/liberals. But consider this, the vast majority of Trust members are of a generation that treasures it’s past and, just like the BBC, you will reap the wind for disregarding them.

Cancelled our joint membership

We have just cancelled our joint membership. We totally agree with many of the other reviews here. If the Trust don’t want to be associated with these historical buildings, then hand them back to the families which initially gifted them to the nation. It’s the Trust’s job to preserve and look after the buildings, and their history, for posterity. Their job is not to try and change history.

Goodbye National "Trust"

Like many others, I have cancelled my NT family membership and will definitely not ever visit any of their properties again. The reasons are encapsulated in almost every Trustpilot rating in the past few weeks and are reinforced in articles such as "Revealed: Every reason the woke National Trust placed 100 properties on BLM-inspired list of shame including homes of Winston Churchill, Rudyard Kipling and William Wordsworth" (see google).

Penrhyn National Trust over the top coverage of Slavery.

Visited Penrhyn Castle. Coverage of slavery completely overwhelms the other history (Slate quarry, the House, the family, the artifacts etc.). Suffice to say I followed a couple out who when they finished had just got no idea about any of the rest of it. This idea of contextualisation has been taken way too far. I think the Covid crisis has allowed the NT to develop this in an echo box without any realistic feedback. I pray the other properties have not gone as over the top as Penrhyn. As to the rest there was no need to keep the gardens closed at all or delay the opening of the houses this late. If this is what they have been doing with their time, what a shambles. The NT had the advantage of the majority of the properties already having a one way system. English Heritage, private homes and castles have opened earlier, more and better. Even Sainsbury's rapidly worked out how to route people! Meanwhile the massive procrastination and focus on this stuff has led to job losses. Absolutely shameful and incompetent leadership.

Cancelled

Disappointed by their excessive response to Covid but still wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and retain our membership. I understand the need to protect staff, many of whom are elderly, but limiting access to parks seems misguided. Their decline into the miserable woke-world however has destroyed the goodwill and removed the inclination to stay. Membership now cancelled. It's a great shame that the leadership are making stupid mistakes. They are letting down the thousands of hardworking staff and volunteers who deserve better.

Goodbye NT

Cancelled our joint membership today ( there’s no need to wait for the expiry date if you pay monthly) just cannot support the NT after this latest woke BLM issue, Steffun says it all. The NT is completely out of touch with its volunteers and members, constantly on the look out for the latest left wing woke issues..... it’s not their role.... that’s what the BBC do. Goodbye NT.
