I’m loving Heart Smart
I’m loving Heart Smart, it is the perfect program for me. I started off feeling completely overwhelmed by the prospect of trying to become a healthier me, but when I signed up to Heart Smart, the weekly phone sessions with my dietitian, and the information sheets and videos I received proved perfect, I love the way that each week there is something for me to read or watch that is not massively time consuming but a page or two of really useful information that has helped me to understand what cholesterol is and what foods are great for my body, and portion size. I have been trying all sorts of new foods and recipes and with the help of my dietitian I am changing the way I think about food and eating. The administrative support is excellent and recently when I was unwell it was not a bother to cancel my appointments; they were added on to the end of my program. I am able to claim through my health fund for the dietitian appointments which is a bonus. l am feeling great and can’t recommend this program enough.
This can genuinely change your life
All I wanted to do when I started this program was to lose a little weight and look good for my upcoming 50th Birthday. This app, and especially with the help of my dietician, Clare, has given me so much more than that. I have learnt about the toxic relationship I used to have with food, why I ate what and why i did. Why I slept badly, why I couldn't stop drinking, why I would binge eat at night, why my throat was dry etc. I feel like a different person three months down the track. I have achieved my goals, exceeded them actually.

I’ve been on the HeartFocus programme for 3 months and have lost 8 kgs! I said I’d be satisfied with 4 kg loss as I’ve never been able to lose more and keep it off. So here I am at a weight I never dreamed was possible and I’m only halfway through. My journey is supported by my dietitian, and the resources provided. I receive fortnightly calls from my dietitian, it is this support that keeps me on track. There has been a huge shift in the food choices I make now. I’ve learnt that I can still have foods I once thought would be off limits which makes all the difference. I joined after a shock Blood Pressure reading, and I continue to work to lower it. I’m looking forward to the next three months to really cement the changes I have made.
Mindset Change
This programme was a big financial outlay for me and I began feeling a little impatient with myself and wanted quick results. But as the weeks have gone on I have found myself encouraged by the weekly calls and the gentle and supportive nudging by my dietician Megan. I have found her advice practical and useful and she has listened to what is important to me. She has made me feel accountable about the goals I have set without being judgemental when I have not reached them that week. My own mindset and the way I have looked at meal prepping and what situations trigger me to eat has changed in that I am not as focused on losing weight but rather on how to make healthier daily choices on the food I prepare and the exercise I choose. Although I have only managed to lose a few kilos so far I am feeling stronger and more energetic than I have in a while as I’ve taken control of my health journey. I’m mindful of what I put into my mouth and think about the consequences of my behaviours more than I ever have. I find the app modules useful and the strategies and suggestions given by Megan particularly helpful. So far so good 😊

My main goal when commencing with Miyagi was to lose weight and prevent the onset of diabetes. The weekly phone calls from my dietitian Aleisha have been very helpful in keeping me accountable and identifying goals. My mindset has changed from that of losing weight and the number on a scale to that of exercise, the feeling of well being as the energy increases and stresses decrease. Being mindful of what types of food I put into my body and strategies given and helpful advice from Aleisha have been great. The weekly check ins have been invaluable for my own accountability and the encouragement has been invaluable.

My main goal when commencing with Miyagi was to lose weight and prevent disease states. The weekly phone calls from my dietitian Lisa have been very helpful in keeping me accountable and identifying goals for the week. As I have progressed my mindset has expanded to so much more with an increasing focus on exercise, self compassion, mindfulness and stress reduction. My family have benefitted as we discuss healthy food and lifestyle choices and implement them.
