TaxRise has done a great job on a complex tax year filing with two years of filing needed done in the midst of a divorce AND a name and Gender Change…. That must have been a bit confusing for the IRS (LOL) but hey, the job is done and money’s are coming in. Would I recommend TaxRise? Of course, by all means I’d recommend TaxRise to do and handle your tax filing needs.

I was promised one thing. I paid tax rise fifteen hundred dollars plus and they did not deliver anything they promised.

This company is a scam. They promised me one thing and after I paid they said I was not eligible for what I agreed to, instead they said they will find a different solution. They offered me the same exact payment plan the irs was offering me directly only they charged me a ridiculous amount for it. When i complained and asked for a refund they offered me %5 … do not waste your money they are California high school and college kids reading from a script and when you start making valid points about how they scam people they will just transfer you to someone else who will be reading their responses from a script. Dealt with them for several months and they are still refusing me a refund. Massive waste of time and money.

Got to make it short in a hurry. Hunter was very professional and thorough very easily understood, and had no hidden or underlying issues of concern. Straightforward great conversation, and someone I would trust and recommend. What a relief very satisfied.

Great service and always very helpful

This is LONG but honest: This company took advantage of my husband and I, in extremely desperate circumstances beginning in August 2023, to current. They misrepresented their abilities to aid our situation with both our state and federal tax debt. TaxRise used our urgent need for a fast resolution, to make sure we felt that the only way forward was to take out a loan for nearly $9,000.00, to cover their “services.” NO ACTUAL work product was EVER delivered after multiple requests (and this was required of us by companies and agencies outside of TaxRise, that we were working with, to help us: our mortgage lender, loss mitigation counsel, Homeowners Association’s attorneys, and the other outside HUD organizations we reached out to for assistance). We eventually received an 11 page “summary” of services after about 7 months, which had no details on what services they actually provided on our individual case, but included a summary of promised additional services we could “discuss” at an added cost. We’ve turned over every possible financial document to TaxRise, which is even more dangerous, because we have NO control over what TaxRise has done with our bank records, credit card statements, paystubs, our social security numbers, and our homeowner’s information. We have no honest proof of how TaxRise handled or how they secure/store our most sensitive data. We are not rich people. We own a small condo (valued at less than $340,000, in a market where most modest condos are starting at $500,000). Our tax liability began because I used a qualifying withdrawal (to pay the down payment and closing costs on our home), and a year later, I changed jobs and cashed out my remaining retirement funds. This is counted as income, in the subsequent tax year, even though it wasn’t. My husband was driving Uber, adding to the tax burden. Days after contacting TaxRise, we were hit with a wage levy and bank levy by the state, which sent our financial situation into crisis. We rushed to secure TaxRise’s “services,” as the salesperson leaned into our need for a fast resolution. TaxRise’s salesperson assured us they could “rush our review and get it turned around in about a month.” This was the BIGGEST mistake of our lives. TaxRise will ask you to sign a power of attorney, and once signed, this removes your ability to contact the tax entity, be it your state tax office and/or the IRS, or you’ll be in breach of the TaxRise contract and they can sue you. DO NOT SIGN THIS!! If you sign, all communications from that entity will go to TaxRise, and you will NOT receive copies of any correspondence. You will not be able to advocate for yourself nor will you be able to discuss or dispute the outcome with the entity. The end result was us settling our state obligations without TaxRise’s help, despite being charged for it, because they didn’t secure my husband’s signature on the power of attorney for the state, before we became suspicious of their intentions. Upon confirming it was never secured, we contacted our state’s tax advocate and worked with them directly. We could not do the same with our federal liability. As for our federal liability, TaxRise “negotiated an installment plan,” which we could have set up with the IRS, FOR FREE. NO reduction, or forgiveness of any kind. We’ll be paying this for the next 5-7 years. We’ve nearly lost our home, one of our children has had to leave college midyear, and we are completely buried in additional debt. They barely communicate and usually it’s when your agent changes. We are on the 5th “Tax Specialist,” who is working on our account, at present. They truly have no interest in helping you, once you get approved for the loan for their “services.” In plain English: Taxrise charged us almost $9,000.00 for services WE provided ourselves regarding our State liability, and for a payment plan we could’ve set up for free, for our federal taxes. Believe me, I KNOW how desperate tax liability can seem and unfortunately, so does the sales team at TaxRise. This company preys on your desperation and fear. DO NOT USE THEM.
