Appalling customer service & fly infestation

We made a booking to stay at this property sometime ago through sleeps 12. The property is riddled with a fly infestation. Upon arrival at the property we walked into the main kitchen to be flown at by a swarm of flies and to find that some lovely cakes and biscuits had been left for us to enjoy as a welcoming gesture. This would have been very lovely had it not of contained the three flypapers hanging directly above it and downwards onto the food that had been left. On the opposite side of the room there was a shelf directly above two kettles which had also got fly paper hanging either side of it. on all counts each of the fly papers were full from top to bottom of flies. There was also yellow pole Fly catching contraption on the windowsill along with multiple cans of fly and wasp killer. This to me indicates that the Cleaners, house manager and owner are clearly aware that there is a problem!!! I tried to call the house manager whose number I was issued should We have encountered a problem, It went directly to O2 answerphone and there was no way of contacting. I also tried to call sleeps 12 to find that the office was not open until Monday morning. This is of no use when you are staying at a property and have no point of contact when bookings are usually started on Fridays. Finally managed to speak to Julie (house manager) the following day to find that she had been to her sons wedding which is understandable for her to have switched off her phone but could’ve put on a message to say that was why it was switched off. She was not surprised in my complaint and had said she was coming down the following morning to check the hot tub and swim spa for the chemicals. I had said to her at this point that nobody had been in the swim spa so it was not necessary. She said that it was part of the contract and would need to follow it through. I highlighted at this point that it is not part of the contract to have swarms of flies, no Internet or a rusty swim spa or be able to fly drones. however we are in position that we are unable to move a large family from place to place during the summer holidays hence us booking so early. Julie had she would bring down some of the deterring candles to put the flies off being in the property as the ones that were left there had already been burnt down to nothing. Upon arrival the following morning she said she had spoken with the owners who had said that the complaint must go through sleeps 12 as our contract was with them. She had no candles or fly papers as was not able to locate any. I did Say to her at that time that I didn’t really want the fly papers as I felt that not only does it catch them but it also attracts them. The entire of the downstairs had flies swarming everywhere including the lower bedroom which my sons were sleeping in and had flies dropping on them throughout the night. The lounge windowsill is riddled with them and is most unpleasant. Every time we have gone to cook there have been swarms of flies around us and on two occasions the food had ended up in the bin due to flies dropping into the food. There is an awful smell coming from the pantry when you open the door also. Despite this and the explanation of the concertina doors being open and the flies coming in does not fit the fact that the flies appear to be coming from inside the house rather than outside. This property is certainly not something I would expect sleeps 12 to associate their name to as it is not to the standard of any other property we have visited. We are a respectable family whom work incredibly hard and have paid a lot of money to stay in this property. We could’ve gone abroad cheaper and feel that the next booking we were about to make for the Corncrib will not be going ahead unless it was resolved to a suitable standard. We respectfully asked the company to come out and check this property in Our presence. I requested to either move properties or get a refund for this encounter. I advised that In the absence of this every single platform of social media and news informative station would be given all of the above to prevent anybody encountering the same stay that we have. Despite all the requests and evidence to back this up the owner of sleeps 12 refused to either move us or refund us to allow us to move our family somewhere better. We now have multiple emails and text messages to show they accepted there was a problem to the point that they wanted to send in pest control/fumigation. Julie had been sent multiple photographs of the state in which things were when we arrived. We urge you to think twice before making a booking through sleeps 12 for any property as their customer service is non-existent. I am now taking further action to recover our losses by way of small claims court action.

Disappointing

We have used sleep12 numerous times and have always been happy but unfortunately not on this occasion. We received a £107 deduction in our deposit as some towels and a robe had mud on. The pictures provided to us of evidence of this were before they were even put into the washing machine - which I’m sure would have removed the mud. Although we weren’t aware of the stained towels and would have of course washed them had we known we did have young children in our group who must have brought them outside but £107 for towels of which some were in fact mouldy (wish we would have taken pictures but we weren’t going to complain) is excessive. We had numerous issues with the our stay in this house (which is a separate issue) but not happy with the amount deducted. We will try another company for our trip next year.

This is a reply to my previous review. We received an invoice for £500 exactly, no VAT, no descriptions of work carried out, no replacements and nothing stating the cost £2600, after researching and speaking with Legal advisors, the cleaning company is owned by the same person! How many more lies and excuses are you going to use to con customers? I’m not a one-off case as you can see by plenty of negative reviews for the same reason! No more back and forth with this, you have my contact details so please contact me to arrange the refund of my full deposit. Trust Pilot is proof that you are rip off merchants.

please consider very careful as to whether you can afford to loose your deposit as this company will keep 100% of your deposit ,i read up on many reviews before booking & was hoping these reviews were just hear say but sadly i found this not to be the case , rooms were not in great condition & quite dirty, broken lamps etc for the amount it cost this was shocking i expected more & can only say how disapointed i was from start to finish , extra charges for beds we didnt need but the owners felt they needed to make them up & then charge for them , sadly this company seem to be money grabbers who take pleasure is taking advantage of its customers

Avoid booking you WILL LOOSE YOUR DEPOSIT

Please avoid booking unless you are prepared to loose your deposit due to a cleaning company ( owned by the owner ) who will charge your full deposit amount but absolutely will not provide you with receipts or a proper breakdown rather just an email with the cost of you deposit Sadly this seems to be a running theme with Thai company Rude & arrogant owners who seem to have an issue with my disabled wife taken 3-4 minutes too long to vacate the premises Shocking behaviour

We have used the services of 'Sleeps 12' for several years and have thoroughly enjoyed every place we have stayed at. If there has ever been an issue it has been quickly and charmingly resolved. We are looking forward to our next adventure with 'Sleeps 12' in July

Outstanding Customer Service

What a joy to deal with such a fantastic company. Wonderful places to rent for self catering in large or small groups. Lovely welcome on arrival, the place (Ham Bottom) was immaculate with all the basics supplied (tea, coffee, sugar etc). We never wanted to leave, but we'll definitely be back for sure!

Very rude , will always find a reason to keep 100% of deposit Please be aware Sadly I have been fiddled out of £600 which Is equivalent to fraud …..
