Completion on time and help when I asked
Direction Law did my first time buyer conveyancing and weee trustworthy, did my completion on time and helped me when I asked. Only problems were that I dealt with different people at each stage, which could be confusing
Incompetence & Lack of Communication
Was recommended Direction Law by the developer of my new property. As this was my first property purchase, I didn't know any better and went with Direction. Instead, I would strongly recommend going with a firm that someone you know uses and trusts instead, as the service provided was pretty abysmal. It was really a 1 star service, but I've given 2 as we at least got the property purchase over the line in the end. That was really the only positive in the experience, everything else was either negative or just neutral / bare-minimum expectations being met. More info below on the negatives: 1. Will start with the most important - they accidentally shared another client's sensitive information with me!! When I then had a call with a Senior Solicitor regarding this, while she was polite and courteous, it was also mostly just excuses - likely as a way to avoid liability. I don't blame it all on the (seemingly) junior lawyer assigned to my case, as it simply should not be possible at all for a lawyer to share another client's details via email - it is a concerning level of poor cybersecurity choices and design. 2. Having said that, this was not the first time the junior lawyer had made an inexcusable error due to lack of attention to detail and lack of customer service skills. Prior to this, she had gotten my account confused with another client's and had informed me that I had documents still outstanding, which I did not, and upon further prodding she realised she was arguing with me about someone else's account. And even worse - my purchase was delayed by ~2 weeks because she had the name on my mortgage offer amended, without consulting me to double check if this was the correct choice to make. The amendment and then re-amendment to the correct name (which was also the one on the original offer) added 2 weeks to my purchase, which is extremely frustrating when it's because your lawyers aren't doing their jobs properly. It was impossible to get ahold of anyone involved in my case on the phone past the initial Sales conversation. My lawyer would never pick up the phone and would never return a call when requested via their first line contact. 3. The main reason I chose this firm was because I felt that their pre-sales quote seemed more transparent and clear than other firms' quotes. Despite this, there seemed to be small hidden fees and offers that kept popping up throughout the deal. I understand trying to up-sell, but it's not a great look when a legal firm is doing so in my opinion. I would expect a clear up-front quote when a house purchase is involved.
Extensive experience in Shared Ownership Conveyancing
From the start to completion of my property conveyancing I received the necessary information and support throughout the mortgage process. Thanks Maisie T. for responding promptly to all my questions.
I would never ever use Direction Law…
I would never ever use Direction Law again. Their emails come across very passive aggressive, take numerous days to respond to emails, try calling the office number to be told no one can talk to me right now, left my number and to this day never got a call back. Delayed the whole process of us moving into our property. I could go on but just have a look at other reviews online.
Thank you!
Although working together was difficult at the beginning( lack of communication), things have improved since our case was taken over by another case officer, Emily Searle. We want to say a huge thank you for all your work and support as a team and especially Emily!😊 You are a highly valued staff member within Direction Law! We don't have enough words to show you our appreciation throughout the process! Thank you!
Direction Law are fantastic solicitors…
Direction Law are fantastic solicitors service. I would like to give a special acknowledgement to Emily Searle (and team) for her empathy, support and diligence in walking us through the process; especially during these challenging times for those trying to buy a home. Thank you Direction Law. I fully recommend them. Ann Weekes.
Birmingham branch
One or two little hiccups and delays along the way but that's to be expected I suppose. On the whole, pleased with the service I received. All staff were very friendly, polite and helpful.
Honestly couldnt ask for a better solicitor
Honestly couldnt ask for a better solicitor stephen crow he has been there since we first started and hasnt let us down once, communication was amazing always emailing back as soon as possible and queries were always answered, professional service and kind and patient. We are very grateful for your hard work
Direction Law have just breached…
Direction Law have just breached contract and dropped us as a client stating I was abusive to their trainee compliance officer. Over a week 1/2 to get client pack to us by email. Then forteen emails and 41 documents going back to 2020 sent as per kaitlyn's request. Then after a further request for more statements, I challenged the reason. I wasn't given one. My partner is recovering from bilateral mastectomy and chemo. I've had a stroke and heart attack. We didn't need more stress but got nothing but stress from Direction Law. Without speaking to either myself or my partner about the situation, they broke contract and closed the case. Only then did I spot all the negative reviews about them. Please do yourself a favour and find a professional conveyencer elswhere. In response to Direction Law.... My partner attempted to discuss it with Christopher but he was not willing to accept our side. We asked for recordings of phone calls as many professional businesses have that facility. Direction Law do not. We could therefore not prove our case. Proof of where funds were from was given 40 documents ago in the for of Court Order from divorce and transfer from solicitor. As stated WE SENT FORTY ONE STATEMENTS OVER ELEVEN EMAILS OVER EIGHT DAYS. Please do no lie to hide the fact Direction Law did not understand what they were doing. You could have discussed it to get our side of the story BEFORE closing the case. Live and learn eh?
