Jones Whyte held onto my family trust (Diane Bowie/Scott) files as ‘custodians of the Files’ when the original firm (McClures of Greenock) I signed with went bust in 2021. I only discovered this by chance in 2023 like the 100k other clients (many are still unaware) until I needed to access my Trust. It’s cost me a lot of money to get McClures trustees to retire (as they no longer practice) and redo my Will, POA and amend title deeds on my house. Jones Whyte requested thousands up front before they would even look at my file so I went to my own solicitor. However, it’s disgusting that they continue to profit from peoples misery at a most venerable time as many people are shocked into using their services. I would give them a wide berth if you don’t want to waste anymore money than you can afford!! Why after 3 years are people still not informed they are holding these files and a fortune if their assets? The reasons I did not go ahead with JW is the fact they failed to inform me they were holding my files/assets and they were demanding payment up front before I even knew what I was dealing with.
