Stay Well Clear

Having booked coach hire a month in advance for my stag party to Haydock races I was disappointed to receive a phone call 9pm the night before travelling to tell me there had been an issue with our bus and they where looking for an alternate. They were to ring me 9am the morning I was due to travel with an update. At 9:15am having not heard from them I called to see what was happening only to be told they where still working on it. The bus was due to take us at 12:30 and so at 10:45 having still not been able to source a replacement I had to cancel and book 6 normal taxis to take 21 of us at great expense. I was assured I would receive a full refund on the Monday which to date has still not materialised. Anyone thinking of using these needs to stay well clear they are a complete shambles and if you choose to book with these based on my experience your taking a huge risk.

Left to the last minute

The Pros; - Coach driver turned up on time, left on time and no passengers had any complaints. Thank you. The Cons; - The coach was required to transport evening guests to my wedding, therefore it was critical that details were known ahead of time as I would not be available on the day for queries as I would be getting married. - Having tried to make this known to the company, I got nowhere with their customer service centre. An initial email went unanswered for weeks before I chased and was told this would be replied to in a few days. - This reply never came. - The above led to numerous telephone calls. I was promised a call back on 4 separate occasions. I received none. This would have been a courtesy appreciated even if further details were not known at the time. An update of any sort would have been better than nothing. - The allocation of a driver took way too long. This occurred the day before the event and even then I was not called. I note I received an email at this stage however I was embroiled in wedding arrangements all day and this was too late for me to notice - I am only seeing this email today for the first time.... one week late. Again, advance planning should be made dependent on the occasion. - Because of the above, I was unable to arrange with the driver a suitable contact who would be using the bus to get to the wedding in the early evening. Instead the driver had to call me... in the middle of my wedding. Not good.

Completely devastated

My partner booked a return coach to ascot races for his stag do. We were advised that a driver would contact us the day before to confirm he would arrive. No contact was made so we phoned them and they gave us wrong details for the driver. Phoned back they then said there was no driver and they would have to book one. Later, they advised that the stag do would have to split into two smaller coaches. Fine as long as we get there. Coaches were due at 9:30, only one turned up taking 8 and leaving the rest of the party. The second "driver" then phoned to say he had "broken down" then he was "round the corner" then he was on a street in the next town (the name of the street doesn't exist) and then he said, he'd broken down again in the same town-total rubbish as we have relatives in the neighbouring town who scoured the town to try and assist-no coach to be seen. Customer service was unhelpful and were unable to provide alternative transport although kept the party waiting for three hours by saying they would "call to update". By this time, it was too late to get to Ascot, entry would have been refused and alas, no driver even turned up at all. All involved have lost significant amounts of money on tickets and cost of travel including hotels, the groom was stranded and the best man was on the first and only coach splitting the group up for the day. There were a lot of tears and upset and a once in a lifetime occasion was totally ruined by coachhire.com. We are just devastated. Avoid like the plague.

Disgusted !!

I requested a quote for a trip for family and friends and was given a quote of £898. I told them that my sister would contact them to confirm. Unfortunatly my sister who has litetacy issues did not realize that they were asking her to pay over £100 more for the same trip. My sister had to pay the difference out of her benefits because everyone is looking forward to going. We will not be using this sort of outfit again!

A disappointment to the day

I had various responses from coach companies with fluctuating prices for the same vehicles, but they all offered a price comparison. Upon deciding on coach hire, a further quote was offered once I made payment. When asked if they would work on a compared price, they said no due to peak season The difference was over £120, however I accepted their refusal. I booked the coach from 10am to 21.30pm, in my past experience the coach driver tended to stay with us on our trip to a racecourse and we in turn would pay for their admission. There was a breakdown in communication as the terms and conditions were sent to my office email the day before our trip of which I had the day off. I met the driver the next morning introducing myself and letting him know that my arranged meeting time of 10am would result in setting off an hour later as I know that my guests wouldn't make 10am. I was then informed that he had another job at 1.45pm from Stevenage. We had a chat and I even had a friend who lived in Stevenage and got the details on google map to reassure him that if we set off at the new appointed time of 10.45am, we would reach Newmarket by 12am at the latest giving him just short of 2 hours to his next destination that should take no longer than 75 minutes. This was concluded at approximately 10.15am. At 10.30 the driver approaches me to say that the office had rung him and to charge us £50 for not leaving on time. I had to hurry the group up 15 minutes earlier than was arranged with the driver. Upon arriving to the racecourse, I promptly paid the driver the £50 fine. I then took it upon myself to make sure what arrangements were in place for our return journey, only to find out that we were booked in to be picked up at 10.37pm, my details clearly stated that we wanted to be dropped off at 21.30pm. Which would imply that we were charged in addition and someone was completely mad a mess of our booking. I felt sorry for the driver as he has no links with COACH HIRE, the company. the vehicle itself had no aircon, not even a radio, we are talking box standard. I would advise anyone considering using this company to look elsewhere.

Coach Hire.com is a lovely company to deal with especially, Joanna Button, who never stops amasing me with her level of service. She always does what she says she will and is always friendly and helpful, makes all the difference when dealing with our guest's requests. Top marks. Couldn't fault

The driver was punctual and communicated regularly to ensure there was no confusion. He was very helpful with the bags and was patient and understanding when awaiting a late passenger. Overall, couldn't fault the service.
