Probate - avoid

I used GloverPriest to handle probate for my late brother’s estate, what a mistake. There have been too many errors and delays to go into detail but in summary they have been incompetent, slow, and unreliable. When I complained, they didn’t even respond to me within the timeframe set out in their own complaints procedure, it then took 2 further emails to one of their directors and the threat of a complaint to the Solicitors Regulatory Authority to get a response. Over three years after my brother’s death we have finally got probate and I have now decided to handle the winding up of the estate myself. But in the latest turn of events they now tell me that the paperwork they received from the probate office that I need to complete the winding up of the estate is not in their file. Unbelievable.

AVOID

AVOID Absolutely shocking service and rude staff. Constant delays and passing the book when challenging. No clear support and guidance given throughout and even blamed us the customer for the mortgage funds not being released when they had not completed the requirements for the mortgage.

Lost me a good deal due to their lack of communication

Quite honestly, I chose this firm because they were one of the cheapest and they were on the online case management platform. What a mistake, don't go that route! It wasn't even that cheap overall, but they have cost me a good deal on a first time home purchase. There was zero communication from my allocated Gloverpriest conveyancer to the selling party's conveyancer, no paperwork has been sent in time, nor did they contact me about any relevant deadlines. Being the first time buyer, I needed occasional reminder and advice, and Gloverpriest conveyancer simply couldn't deliver it. In the end when the selling party decided to call off the sale due to deadline not being met, it was then that I found out that in about 6 months that the purchase was going on, Gloverpriest conveyancer only made the initial contact with the seller and nothing else has been sent or reported to them in that whole time. The seller assumed that I wasn't taking any action in my purchase and called everything off. Customer service was appalling too, half the time I couldn't get through to Gloverpriest and when I did, there was little care showed. They weren't responding to my messages on the online platform and I'm not really sure what is the of it. It did not aid my communication with the conveyancer and didn't resolve any of the issues Inhad with them. Gloverpriest conveyancer still made me pay some of the fees for the searches and identity checks, which are of no use to me now. When it came to refunding some of the other fees, the whole process was very long and dragged out and I actually wasn't refunded when I was told I would be. It was a couple of weeks later that I noticed that money never reached my account and I had to contact them several times again to finally get a bit of money back. No apology has been made and I found the person dealing with it quite careless and rude in the way they spoke to me. I have now chosen a local and reputable solicitors firm, which has been such a different experience so far and for not much more money. Sadly, I don't have a good thing to say about this firm because every single aspect of my experience with them has been poor. I would not recommend them for conveyancing services.

Terrible - Plus Data Breech - Do not use!

As per the majority of reviews on here, please please do not use GloverPriest for your conveyancing. Sarah Masson was assigned to our case and was terrible throughout. The only time she bothered to speak to us was to phone us to question why we had complained about her. Not to offer an apology or answer our questions. The call was only about covering her own back. To add to her incompetence, she copied us into an email with another client, breaching data protection and disclosing the details of another buyers purchase, along with all their personal information. To make matters worse, she miscalculated our mortgage payment. We found this out on the day of completion, when we were already sitting in the removal van, that we couldn't move into the property or complete unless we paid an additional £1000 immediately. However when calling Sarah straight after receiving this, we were told she was on her lunch break and wouldn't be back for an hour. Sarah never called us back. After numerous complaints we thought she would have the courtesy of explaining and apologising for her error, especially given the extreme panic and distress she caused on the day we thought we were finally moving into our new home. To add insult to injury, Emma Pulford from the complaints department offered us compensation of '£50 for the stress and inconvenience encountered'. Amazing to see the value a big corporate company place on the mental health and wellbeing of their clients. The only person in this truly awful and heavily scaring experience and who had any redeeming qualities was Sarah's assistant Sam - and we say this lightly. After being yet again extremely rude on the phone to my partner, Sam actually had the dignity to call us back and apologise for the way he spoke to us. If only Sarah was able to take responsibility for her errors and shortcomings. Finally, after all this, we received the final paperwork for the house eight months after we completed. Disgusting really. Please, please PLEASE do not work with GloverPriest. They place no value on the experience of their customers or their mental health and wellbeing. They don't apologise for data breeches, they argue every query instead of offering advice or support, they only seek to protect themselves and do not hold accountability for their actions. It's a shame conveyancing isn't something which is more regulated - especially when anyone can become a conveyancer, no degree required.

SHOCKING!!

SHOCKING!! They do it at their own pace & question why the hurry or rush to complete a house purchase in regards to the paperwork. Disgusted with their poor excuse of work, always chasing them & never return your calls or emails when they assure you they will.

Do not use

Worst experience with this firm. Used them to purchase a property and they were incompetent throughout the process. They lie when they make mistakes Delays to complete on the purchase because legal paperwork were incorrectly filled in by Alisha the solicitor. Rude staff. Estate agents will not let you purchase a property if you use this firm due to the incompetence. Read reviews below before you use them. It's the same theme of delayed completion of buying a property. They also put wrong figures on my completion form. My delay for completing was also because they forgot to send release of funds to my mortgage company after Glovers had given me a completing date. I became homeless with my daughter during the process and had to live in a hotel as my tenancy had ended based on the completing date. I am over £500 out of pocket due to staying in a hotel, moving the dates for removals and GloverPriest do not care. Alisha the solicitor is inexperienced and chloe the legal secretary is rude. Formal complaint going In with proof of all the errors and complaints to regulators. I need my refund Glover Priest. I will be reviewing you on all media platforms with zero stars

Awful - avoid!

This review doesn’t even deserve a 1 star! Wish we had read all the bad reviews and stayed clear! Communication is awful, it’s hard to get a response unless you constantly chase. Farwa began working on our case, in which we never actually spoke to her. She left the company and our case was taken over by Karishma, which we were not informed of. Our process of moving house began in February, the chain consisted of 4. We had a date to move at the end of July, we went to the office to sign contracts where Karishma informed us that our lender was awaiting a coal mining search but it would take 48 hours to process and therefore not affect our move date. We confirmed with our removal company and packed. 4 days before our move date she rang and stated that the coal mining certificate would not be processed in time and that our move would not happen on the confirmed date. We then cancelled our removals and were left out of pocket with a cancellation fee. (May I also add we paid for this coal mining search to be carried out in April, Farwa and Karishma failed to have sent it to the lender by the end of July!) we then had a new move date every week from the end of July up until mid September, each one failed through various reasons. Once we reached the end of September our vendor pulled out of the sale. This was 2 weeks ago, we have not had any further contact with Karishma despite emails been sent from us. We have since complained where the company have offered to deduct £100 from our fees as a gesture of good will in relation to the coal mining search. They do not acknowledge Karishma informing us to book removals incurring in a cancellation fee, as apparently she told us it would go ahead once the coal mining search was processed, I’m not sure what more proof they require other than us signing the contracts. We have dealt with so much stress this last 8 months and in the end this company was the reason we have not moved house.

Absolutely awful - avoid

I don't know where to start with the errors on this because there are so many. I had to ask for a change in solicitor dealing because the initial solicitor was so rude and gave me incorrect information. Shame on me for not moving to another firm at this point, but I stupidly stayed with them. I have been through the formal complaints procedure and I am finally being paid back the £820 that they overcharged me on my purchase after nine weeks (and also had to fight for a similar amount of time for the £225 they overcharged me on my sale). There was error after error by the solicitor and her assistant. My emails often went ignored and they cannot have the decency to offer an apology despite me having outlined this for them very clearly and them paying me the money owed (which itself is proof that my claims are correct). Very very poor. One star is too kind!

Terrible. Avoid!!!

We used Glover priest after they were recommended by our estate agents for the purchase of our first home. So far it has taken a total of 5 months despite there only being 4 properties in the chain. The bottom being us (first time buyers) and the top property being vacant. I have only had one telephone conversation with our solicitor in all this time. We have sent emails that have taken more than a week to get a response to on many occasions. We feel extremely unsupported and have had little to no guidance from them throughout the process. I would not recommend them for those who need a little more support or want to complete in under 6 months. We are still waiting to complete despite chasing them daily. At the start of the process I attempted to put in a complaint but was told that anyone at the firm can deal with enquiries. In the complaint I outlined how unsupported we felt but unfortunately this was not addressed in their reply.
