Avoid Project Solar UK – Misrepresentation, Poor Service, and Unacceptable Performance

I had an appalling experience with Project Solar UK. From the sales process to post-installation, my interactions with this company have been riddled with misrepresentation, poor communication, and lack of accountability. Sales Misrepresentation The sales representative seemed more focused on closing the deal than providing accurate and transparent information. Critical details—such as the need for a smart meter for proper functionality, internet requirements for monitoring, and the inadequacy of the initially installed battery capacity—were never disclosed during the sales process. It was only after months of escalating complaints that I discovered my property requires a battery with a minimum capacity of 21 kWh, yet Project Solar installed a grossly insufficient 3.6 kWh battery, later upgraded to 8.6 kWh never told us that our property require 21 kWh. System Was Non-Operational for Six Months Shockingly, the system remained non-operational for six months because it was never turned on! Despite this, I was forced to start making payments in April 2024 for a system that delivered zero benefits, leading to sky-high utility bills. Project Solar has yet to offer any compensation or acknowledgment of this blatant oversight. Unprofessional and Ineffective Support Customer service is non-existent. After repeated calls, emails, and even voicemails, I struggled to get any meaningful response. When an engineer finally visited, he confirmed the system had never been activated but failed to rectify ongoing issues. Further calls to their office led to confusing and contradictory explanations, leaving me with no clarity or resolution. Refusal to Compensate or Take Responsibility Requests for fair compensation—such as extending the interest-free payment period for six months—were flatly denied. Their customer service team even had the audacity to claim it was "reasonable to assume" that I should have known the system required internet access, despite their failure to communicate this upfront. Ongoing System Failures Even after months of back-and-forth, the system still doesn’t function as promised. Despite assurances that the system is operational, we are still receiving unacceptably high electricity bills. Final Straw When I consulted their own engineer and another energy expert, it became evident that the system is fundamentally flawed and poorly designed for my property’s energy needs. Yet, Project Solar has refused to acknowledge their mistakes or offer solutions. Conclusion Project Solar UK is a disgraceful company that prioritises sales over customer satisfaction, transparency, and system functionality. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I deeply regret trusting them. If you’re considering solar panel installation, AVOID PROJECT SOLAR UK at all costs. Save yourself the frustration, financial loss, and stress I’ve endured. I will be escalating this matter to the Energy Ombudsman and sharing my experience widely to ensure others don’t fall victim to this company’s unethical practices and request compensation for the extra bill payment and harassment.

I found all contact with Project Solar from the home visit to telephone contacts to be straightforward and to the point. My questions were answered without any of the usual sales blurb. Timescales were kept to, and the installation carried out quickly and efficiently.

I had my property surveyed for solar…

I had my property surveyed for solar towards the end of October after being referred by a friend.Due to being over three roofs, this took a lot of calculating to get the optimum coverage and to work out the best options. Installation went ahead at the end of November, with just a couple of damaged tiles (which are due to be replaced :) ), all the scaffolding erected, used and taken down in a week. the cabling is all tidy and my old outside toilet is now my solar plant room, housing the batteries and inverters. The App has been great to monitor what little sunlight is avaiable in winter. They advise timescales on the max length it takes to process the certificates, etc and to get hooked up to your supplier, but from Inital Survey to all certification being provided AND hooked up to my energy suppliers import/export tarriff has taken just 8 weeks. Very happy with all along the installation process and would recommend.

Great experiece getting our Solar Panels from Project Solar - the customer service has been excellent and everthing was done so quickly - very helpful through the entire process and really well priced as well. so much info but all really well explained. I recommend!

From first meeting to job completion all explained to me in simple terms.

From the first meeting with Irfan to the completion of our solar panels we were kept fully informed. The men who installed the panels were quick and efficient and everything was explained to us. The electrician was exceptionally good. Everything he did was explained to us and he answered our questions fully so we could understand. He also showed me how to use the app and told me what everything meant. They were all polite and obviously knew their jobs thoroughly and had time to explain it all to me. Panels make electricity even on a dull drizzly day and first full day of working we even put electricity into the grid for which we will be paid. I could thoroughly recommend this company

Project Solar made things easy

The sales team were very clear when explaining the system and patient when I asked questions. The team were very flexible with finding dates to install that would work around my shift patterns and were very understanding about it. I feel like there is excellent quality control as one of the managers called and said he wasn't 100% happy with the way the battery had been installed and he wanted to send his team back to get it perfect which was amazing to hear as most companies would have just left it unless the customer complains. Only rated as four stars as the scaffolders left a handful of tools behind that I've ended up disposing of. Not Project Solar's fault but as the scaffolding team has been booked in by them it does by association reflect on them.

Quick and great communication

Project solar have been great at communicating and were speedy in getting us going. They have been helpful throughout and installation was pretty faff free. The app is great and makes sense to a first time user. Highly recommend to those who have a bit of money to spend on eventually saving :)
