Very professional and attentive assistance service

We are really glad that we chose True Traveller insurance for our long trip to South America. We had several digestion issues in Peru which required medical attention and in one case even hospitalization. The assistance service of insurance company was really attentive and they tried to help us as much as they could. They even found a way to pay for our hospital bill through a local agent when the hospital did not accept foreign travel insurance. I was also glad that we could use email in order to comunicate with the assistance service - they responded quickly.

Clarity of the service

Compared to other insurances I checked, True Traveller seems to be clearer and more comprehensive for my type of traveling. I appreciated the absence of "*" throughout the contract.

So far so good

I have, luckily, had no misadventures so far and therefore I haven't filed any insurance claim. Nevertheless, in comparison to other insurance companies that I have consulted before getting my True Traveller insurance, the process was very easy and straight forward.

Working holiday

So I have traveled for over a year in New Zealand and United States and now again planning to do some exploring in Canada. Always had a positivite and fast feedback with TT and easy and fast money back from my claims. Even though I wasn't refunded full amount due to conversions it was nearly the same. So far I have been quite happy!

I chose to go with Truetraveller when I went backpacking around Asia. I had an anaphylactic shock to peanuts whilst in Thailand. Truetraveller had a great relationship with the hospital and sorted everything out with great care and speed. Very grateful for their help in a difficult and scary time in a foreign country. Very grateful for their great service!

A rollercoaster ride!

We booked the trip of a lifetime and looked for appropriate travel insurance. We bought the True Traveller Plus policy and included cancellation cover, travel disruption & lost baggage as we thought this would give us the comprehensive level of insurance we needed for such an important trip. Due to the Corona Virus and border closures etc and the FCO advising against all but essential travel our trip was cancelled….disappointing, but at least we were insured???? We were been informed by True Travellers claims handlers that we were not covered because the FCO only advised against ‘all but essential travel’ they did not advise against ‘all travel’. This is despite the fact that I have pointed out that the borders were closed and all European flights were banned from entering the country. If by some miracle I had managed to charter my own flight and start my holiday the policy then advises that I wouldn’t be insured for travel as I have travelled to a destination where the FCO have advised against ‘all but essential travel’ We found this approach entirely unacceptable…how can an insurance company refuse to cover a loss because the FCO only advise against ‘all but essential travel’ (a holiday isn’t classed as essential travel) because in their opinion I could still travel whilst at the same time refusing to cover me if I managed to start my holiday as I would have travelled against the advice of the FCO! After my initial poor review on Truspilot, Truetraveller, got in touch as it appears my claim was incorrectly rejected. They have now paid out in full and the payment was made promptly. I've left the original text in as that is what actually happened and you can make your own judgements from my experience.
