I feel like I owe Charles Tyrwhitt an apology

I feel like I owe Charles Tyrwhitt a public apology. I’ve been with them for about twenty years and have spent many thousands of pounds with them but thought I’d give Hawes and Curtis a go just to see if there was a better deal available. I wish I hadn’t. I ordered a suit of the same size that I always get with CT but the jacket and waistcoat came up a little small. I work long hours in a busy job and prioritised re-ordering over sending the return. When I tried to send the return, I could not do so because it was outside the 28 day period. This is true. I contacted customer services to query this and they replied to say there was nothing they could do. I asked them to reconsider on the basis that the jacket and waistcoat had not been worn, was still in original packaging and also had the original tailor’s thread still present. Again, the reply came back that there was nothing they could do. So, I now have a fairly expensive jacket and waistcoat that don’t fit me that I can do nothing with. Whilst they may be right in terms of their policy, it seems fairly shortsighted to me because they have just lost perhaps 20 years’ of business for the sake of a jacket and a waistcoat! Charles Tyrwhitt, on the other hand, have a very generous returns policy which is far more attuned to the customer base and has guaranteed that I will now return to them having made the mistake of shopping with Hawes and Curtis.

I brought a number of shirts from Hawes…

I brought a number of shirts from Hawes and Curtis last summer. I have worn them occasionally and interchanged between 4 shirts, so none of them have seen daily or even weekly wear. I have followed the care guidelines for their non iron shirt ( 30 degree cycle, no tumble dry and no iron). One of the shirts has started to come apart at the sleeve collar and it unwearable. I have contacted Hawes and Curtis for support but have been told that there is no way the product is faulty and that I am the cause of the issue. I find this unacceptable as I have taken every care of this shirts, therefore, this one must be faulty. They have refused to refund or return. Not what you expect from a £65 product. I will not use them again.
