Robert was very helpful and knowledgeable

Robert Charlton (Umbrella.co.uk) excelled in assisting me in providing up-to-date and accurate information in regards to UMBRELLA company where I was provided guidance and assistance that I did not initially think I required. Robert is professional, upbeat through and full of enthusiasm with great communications skills. This was the first time I am working with an umbrella company where Umbrella.co.uk was the second company I called. I was asked about the fees and rates that I was being charged and where a package was created/tailored to my specific needs. I was provided all the package details with contact details via email by the time I got off the phone with Robert. I was provided with another quote beating the original quote provided by Robert but after making further contact with Robert the other quote was matched/beaten resulting in me agreeing to umbrella.co.uk representing me as my umbrella company. Thank you Robert in all your help and assistance.

Great Service

I have recently started locum work and Umbrella was a recommendation from Liquid Personnel. The ease that this has given me in terms of managing my salary has been a 5* service. Robert Charlton and customer services could not have supported me any better. They are responsive to my queries and nothing is ever a problem. Robert particularly will take time out of his working day to support me at a drop of a hat. So far it has been a fabulous service and I would recommend to anyone moving to locum work. Thanks Umbrella and huge thanks to RC!

Challenging stuff....

Being forced into IR35 and use specific umbrella firm is one thing but to concur with some comments here. Management of basic accounts and expenses are pretty dire sadly. Communications are not transparent and leave you guessing as to what is in each payslip. Communication and engagement needs to be far better.

Beware

Beware, the way they pay is not helpful or indeed the recommended way via gov.uk guidance on umbrella companies! It cost me a mortgage as it looks like you earn the mi imum wage. You'll get a higher rate alright but it gets sucked up in employers NI and fees, you basically pay two lots of NI, it's a racket. What is quite amusing is how vehemently the staff believe they are acting in best interest of you, they're not, it's totally in their favour, well the big boys running the show! Even funnier is that they even send you a link to the gov site which clearly points out and gives examples of how your payslip should look and yep you've guessed it, umbrella.co.uk use the method our gov warn against, although our gov endorse this way of racking up revenue! Check it out for yourselves gov.uk umbrella companies link. I also had issues with receiving payslips like others, unanswered calls too, Fridays their phone just rings, no one answers and they don't seem to have direct lines. Just Avoid! Update: they had me on the wrong tax code and as warned I got stung with a 2.5k tax bill!

I have been with them for 2 months and…

I have been with them for 2 months and my payments so far have been irregular. The first one got delayed then paid me 3 weeks then another for 1 week a week later. Then nothing for 4 weeks but I have now at least received a 2 week payment. I haven't always received a reply to sent emails; some were replied to satisfactory. I'm hoping things will improve now I have resolved some of the problems I've had using their online portal for submitting timesheets.

Very poor responses / no follow-up / no ownership

Have worked through Umbrella.co.uk for past 15months. The first year went very well. Over the past 3 months the Customer Service has been appalling. Most of my calls were not answered, requested a call back a number of times and none of the calls were returned. Missing payment for over one month - which a number of emails and calls has not resolved. I would not recommend them
