Stay away from this ripoff company! I used them when I worked with an agy. They will deduct and overcharge you and refuse to send you payslips to explain deductions. I gave up ringing them because they won't pick up the phone. When I did complain to my agency - they told the agency they will call me back and sort it out. What they instead do is make a flash call that won't ring longer than 1 second. They follow it up with a bogus text saying they have been trying to contact you and to please contact them on the same number they never pick up. This is easily the worst Umbrella company I have ever used and trust me I have used over 10 when contracting. Oh and dont be fooled by the 5 stars - when you 'sign up' Rob 'the sales man' will try and charm you to leave a 5 star review,

TERRIBLE. DO NOT USE. They don’t pay you on bank holidays which is fine, but they don’t even tell you the next payment date/answer calls/emails - steer clear, anything is better than here.

Calling round for quotations, I've spoken with at least 5/6 different umbrella companies. The agent I spoke with here at umbrella.co.uk was impeccable at explaining how the service works. And whilst I won't mention other companies I've contacted, I can say Robert was more detailed and knew the answers to all of my questions. Which has left me feeling confident to entrust umbrella.co.uk with my wages! Once everything was explained, the registration process couldn't have been any easier/quicker. All supporting documentation was provided, along with links to HMRC where all information provided by Robert could easily be verified. Thank you

Expensive, not paid on time and still on an emergency tax code! Repeated calls and emails from myself and my hiring agent appear to have little to no effect. Steer clear at all costs. Further to Umbrellas recent reply. No you did not pay me the same day. And you stopped responding to email from both me and my agent, whilst holding onto money that had been paid to you by my agent. You still haven’t provided me with my P60 or P45

Sweet clear of this company. Woefully bad. They charge a fortune compared to other companies. They never answer the phone. They pay you late there system is terrible. They promise arranged payments at a time when there shut. So you cannot question it. When I say woefully bad. I really mean it!

Made a mess of income tax even after repeated requests both before and during employment. Wouldn’t use again.

This started as a 1 star review. I spoke to someone whom I hope hasn't been there very long by the name of Rob who insisted he'd call me back the same day. (HA!) I had to call THEM and luckily got a lovely member of staff by the name of Katy to help with my illustrations and queries. Overall I believe the company is fit for purpose. However they may want to review their hiring policies as due to the random nature of how intelligent their staffing is, I can't commit myself to this company.

I am new to consulting and IR35 after 30 years of various employers. My recruiter recommended umbrella as one of 2 companies that they recommend. I randomly went with Umbrella and was glad I did. Robert C is a legend and explained this new world to me together with projections and how it all worked. I had to work a 3 months notice in my old job so called Umbrella 3 months later to sort out a pension. Robert C recognized my voice even though we had not spoken for weeks. He diligently explained the pension and again did projections on the fly. He really knows his finances and how to maximize them within the tax laws. Highly recommended.
