Avoid at all costs!

Avoid this company at all costs! Nothing about their service is efficient or helpful. It is impossible to get in contact with anyone nor receive clear answers back. I was sold the helpfulness of the service when I moved into my first flat in the UK by the agent I spoke to. Being an expat, the thought of getting all utilities organized seemed overwhelming and so I took them up on the offer and signed up. If I had known then how incredibly difficult it would be to deal with this company I would have NEVER signed up. For one, there is no visibility into what you are paying, no statements with clear usage outline, you are basically beholden to “take their word for it”. I had started with the full package of energy utilities, water and council tax and quickly realized that there were delays in getting tax and water sorted. I was able to remove those services and found that navigating the suppliers directly without the middle man of Homebox was much easier! It appeared that my energy charges were quit high but after repeated asks for the actual statement from the supplier, I was provided nothing. I have since moved and was able to end my contract with the company given the end of my tenancy which happened end of July. At that point, I repeatedly asked for the final statements so that I could see what I was actually being charged for and paying, I was told that it would take 8-10 weeks to receive final statements. It is now the end of October and I have heard nothing, no updates, no closure details. Here’s what I found in working with this company, nothing is easy or helpful, you end up in a loop of trying to get information from them and still having to deal with utility providers yourself directly. I don’t know who would ever think inserting a disorganized middle man into the process is good business idea. Hot mess. You are for sure overpaying on both the utilities as well as whatever added benefits they are supposedly giving you. Nothing about my experience with Homebox has been beneficial to my time or resources. Additionally, I believe they may have some sort of contracts with certain energy suppliers and are most likely receiving a kickback from them to send all their customers to a certain company. Once I moved and set up my own utilities directly with a new company I quickly realized that I was being charged more than double for gas and heating with Homebox. Do yourself a favor and don’t engage with this company for any reason. Unless you want to complicate your life to such a degree that you spend all your time trying to get answers and understand if your bills are actually being paid. The customer service is chaotic, you send emails and they go into some void and getting in touch with them on the phone takes a whole other level of perseverance. I am so grateful to be finally rid of them. I have gone through and read all of the bad reviews and everything that everyone says about their experience is spot on. Listen to them.
