Finally paid Taxrise in full, however, they have not responded to my emails, calls or text from their portal. When I still owed money, they were calling frequently with updates, but after I paid them in full, NOTHING from them.

Do not trust what they say
Do not trust what they say. I inquired into Taxrise services because I was looking into applying for a payment plan with the IRS in which I did not have to pay interest or, for a potential complete forgiveness. Paid Taxrise $375 to look into that and for my case the forgiveness option was not possible. So far no problem. Looking into the other option though, when asking questions to see if it would make sense to proceed, some of the most critical information I needed for making my decision to accept their service or not, was either on purpose (or by ignorance) hidden from me. My debt with the IRS was only about $8500. I specifically asked if during the application process the IRS was going to stop the accruing of interest against me. The Taxrise agent said yes, which turned out NOT to be true. The case takes months to get a final approval, and during all that time, the interest keeps growing against you, it doesn't matter that Taxrise already sent your case to the IRS, the interest never stops until your case is approved. Another super misleading information I got was that there was a penalty on top of the amount I owed to the IRS, that supposedly they were able to negotiate so I didn't have to pay it. I asked, I hear you talking about a penalty but I see a very specific amount on the IRS letter, which does not mention the word penalty anywhere, it says amount owed including interest owed up to the moment. Are you saying I pay this total amount right now and on top of that I will get another bill with the "penalty"? The agent said yes, and added that for my case the estimation of the penalty was about $400. I contacted the IRS and they said that was not true, that if I pay the full amount specified in the letter, that was going to be enough to cover the debt. Once I realized all the inaccurate information they were giving me, I put all that into an email, including screenshots from my conversation with the IRS, sent it to them asking for the cancellation of my case and a full refund but they rejected my request. In addition to all that, deep into the process, I get a phone call in which they inform me for the first time that if there's any credit in my favor after my tax filing of the year, the IRS was going to automatically keep it and add it as a payment to my current debt. That would have been good to know from the beginning since I had installed some energy efficient equipment at my house and knew I had some tax credits coming. So, inaccurate information from the beginning (I would record your conversations with them if you have already started a process), paid a total of about $1800 for nothing because first, the interest kept accruing against me for months, and second, when finally my case was approved, I had already mostly paid the whole debt because the IRS kept all my tax credits. In conclusion, had I had the right information from the beginning I would have easily concluded that their services were not a good fit for my situation. Do your research, take the time to record everything they say and make sure it is crystal clear by email, that way you don't fall for what seems to be cheap sales tactics to add the next uninformed customer to the list.
