Excellent care

I went to Mr Maurino for a consultation about removal of cataracts and multi-focal implants. I was highly impressed at this initial meeting both by his team and Mr Maurino himself. Everyone was very thorough and professional and I felt reassured that, if I went ahead with the operation, I would be in good hands. I subsequently did go ahead and the care could not have been better. Everything was explained to me in detail which helped to calm my nerves. The procedure itself did not take long and I was leaving the hospital and on my way home within the time period they had estimated. I was concerned after I had the implant in the second eye as my sight was blurry for a lot longer than with the first eye. I therefore rang the ward who put me in touch with Ana, one of the practice managers. She reassured me that it would all resolve itself within a couple of days but that if I was still worried on Monday (this was Friday), I should ring them again. Anyway she was right so I didn't need to ring. However, on Monday afternoon I got a call from the other practice manager to check with me that all was okay, which was incredibly reassuring. I have now just had my follow-up check up which was also very thorough. I thought I would just see Mr Maurino briefly but instead I also saw the technician as well as the optometrist. All were very pleased with my hugely improved vision and I was discharged. Although this procedure is expensive it is well worth it if, like me, your vision is very poor and deteriorating all the time. I now do not wear glasses at all (not even for reading), having needed them for the last 57 years of life!!

Maurino is a very supportive and knowledgeable doctor. He explains the procedure really well and gives you all the information you need to understand what he will do. The cataract surgery I had done in both eyes was successful and was completely painless. I am extremely satisfied with the result.

Got excellent unbiased advice for my eye surgery from Mr Maurino. He kept my long term eye health in mind rather than going with the 'easy option'. His admin team was great with appointments and follow ups. Would highly recommend.

God Blessed Dr. Maurino!

God Blessed Dr. Maurino and his team. I have no words to explain how grateful and thankful I am. On October 2018 I decided after visiting Dr Maurino to proceed to Prk laser surgery. He explained clearly what options I had due to high prescription I had. My myopia was over 10points and astigmatism over 2 in both eyes. Hence, I proceeded to the operation, which was literally 2 mins in both eyes. Dr Maurino explained very clearly what to expect during the operation and how it would be afterwards. I would never forget how clean I saw for first time the colours during the procedure. I was able to walk and return back home and seeing. By the 1st week I have realised a massive change on my vision. Dr. Maurino looked after me every few weeks and Anna ,Sue also called the first days to check that I was well. After the operation I have given a list of eye drops which I had to follow precise. I have only had the third night a high pain which calmed after I put an eye drop. That was the only pain. The myopia decrease from the first month to 1 point and today at 0.4left and 0.2 right eye, a massive result. I truly recommend Dr Maurino to anyone who has eye issues. An amazing doctor and great human. Best thing that I have done in my life. I would always be thankful!

I found Mr Maurino and his team extremely efficient and helpful. Everything was explained to me in detail and I felt perfectly confident about both my procedures. The new lenses have changed my life and was extraordinary the difference it has made to colours and clarity. There was no pain involved and it was one hundred per cent worthwhile having this done. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is struggling with sight. Diana Wilson

My experience of Cataract surgery with Vincenzo Maurino

In a sentence, I cannot praise Vincenzo Maurino and his whole team highly enough and recommend them with the utmost confidence. About myself. I am aged 72, and continue to work full time in a job which requires a lot of reading and also distance vision. I have been shortsighted since I was a teenager and have worn glasses all day long since then. For about the last fifteen years I have used varifocals. Cataracts had been developing in both eyes for 3-4 years. I was advised that soon I might be below the legal limit for driving, which made surgery imperative. Vincenzo Maurino. I found him incredibly professional and very calm, reassuring and confidence inspiring. At the first consultation he very quickly assessed my optical situation and gave very clear and decisive advice about types of lens etc. On the night of the surgery on the first eye (they were done six days apart) he inspired great confidence. I felt so calm and relaxed that, although there was an anaesthetist present, I declined even light sedation. The only anaesthesia of any kind was anaesthetic drops in the eye. Mr Maurino appeared to be very deft and the whole procedure lasted about 10 minutes, if that. It was UTTERLY painless, before, during, and after the operation. Frankly, I found the whole experience very underwhelming. The outcome. Brilliant. I now have perfect distant vision in one eye and almost perfect in the other. For all distance purposes, including driving, theatre, television etc, I have thrown away glasses after nearly 60 years. I do still need reading glasses for reading, as Mr Maurino made clear that I would (but who doesn’t in their seventies?). My astigmatism is also corrected. My vision is now crystal clear, and colours have a new and almost dazzling vibrancy. The Moorfields team. Mr Maurino’s dedicated optometrist, Aneel Suri, who performed many tests on my eyes before and after the surgery, seemed excellent. His receptionist, Ana Santos, could not have been more helpful and efficient. On the nights of the surgery, in the main hospital, the nursing staff were very attentive and reassuring, and I even had an excellent supper after each operation! My advice to anyone considering cataract surgery would be go and see Mr Maurino, and do not hesitate. It really has transformed my life. There is, of course, a cost to private treatment of this kind. The staff explain it all very clearly at the outset and affordability is obviously a personal matter.

Highly recommended

Mr Maurino came highly recommended to me by a college who had lens replacement surgery. I wanted to have the same done so with such a recommendation I booked a consultation. I was not disapointed with any single part of either the initial consultation, surgery or followup. I was made to feel at ease at every stage of the process with clear explanations on what was happening. The lens replacement surgery itself was completly trouble free. I had no pain, no redness or soreness. Within an hour or so of surgery I was on my way home.I am now able to see clearly with out the use of glasses at all. Its truly amazing and I can't stop smiling.
