Let's face it, if you have a problem with your eyes, you want to go to the best place possible, and in my view that is Moorfields Eye Hospital. I needed a cataract operation and a refractive lens replacement, which was carried out by Mr Maurino who is in charge of this area of Moorfields. He was superb and gave very clear explanations of what would happen, the risks and options. All carried out with extreme professionalism. I couldn't be happier with my new eye sight!

Mr Maurino made me feel extremely comfortable throughout the entire process and procedure, which is no easy task when dealing with an operation of this nature but I had full confidence in his abilities. I would recommend his consultancy to anyone and in fact, both my father and sister have undergone surgeries with him since! My eyes were naturally very dry and so Mr Maurino found the best procedure for me. I have had no issues so far and the results have been life-changing.

Delighted I went ahead with my refractive lens exchange surgery. I did the cataract operation including multi focal implant in both eyes and I am very satisfied with the result. I am very pleased to have chosen Mr Maurino as he is very professional and caring. I highly recommend him.

The process was exemplary. Everyone I encountered was respectful of my time, questions and feelings. Mr Maurino was clear, authoritative (well obviously), and endlessly patient with my questions. He said, and in every way demonstrated, that he wanted the best outcome for me. The operation was not painful in any way. During the procedure, I focused on the colours I could see, which was relaxing and contemplative. The operation was transformative for me. Before, I had -10 short sight and was too grateful to contact lenses to heed the discomfort, colour saturation and double vision. Afterwards I immediately noticed that light was pure white (and not orange), that I could see texture and depth of field in a way I never could before, and that I had night vision. I now have better than 20:20 vision and (with 1.75 monocular vision in one eye) very fine close vision. I relate differently to the world – as if I am in it rather than watching a flat screen of it – and all this extra information is less tiring and more natural than the depleted version I had before. I simply couldn’t have imagined a better result. In fact, before I saw it, I couldn’t have imagined the result I got. I express my wholehearted thanks to everyone at Moorfields.
