STAY AWAY!!!!

This company does not care what is best for your student and I would not recommend them to anyone. I was talked into this program by a very nice lady who disregarded to tell me that their policy is to lock you into more than one month's worth of classes and they automatically charge your card again without your consent. I have asked several people in this company for a refund for the charge they put on my card but despite me explaining that my child is not benefiting from this online tutoring option, they refuse to give me a refund. I would stay away from this company and try something that actually has the child's best interest in mind and not collecting money at any cost to their clients.

Grace is an excellent teacher

Grace is an excellent teacher. It is not easy to teach a 7 year old math online, but she was excellent at keeping my son engaged in our first session. In fact, she even spent an extra few minutes past the time which was lovely. My son looks forward to more sessions with her. Thanks Grace!

Waste of time and money. Sales person lies

The sales agent promised 4 hours could be used on specific days, prior to a job test that he said tutors are familiar with. He said payment had to be paid to secure the tutoring hours. So I paid $276 for 4 hours to secure the spots, 2 hrs on one day and 2 hrs the next. After they got my money, the spots were not available and instead were spread one hour a week over 4 weeks. After going back and forth with several Varsity Tutor staff, I was able to secure 2 hrs on a Friday and 2 hrs on the following day, Saturday. The tutor showed up Friday night. I showed her the work test I requested help with and she says she is “a word person not a math person.” The 2 hr session really wasn’t helpful and the next day, the tutor was not able to log on during the scheduled time due to an I.T. problem on their end. I no longer needed tutoring hours because my job test was also that weekend, as the sales agent was fully aware of when he sold the package. I requested a partial refund because they were not able to deliver and for all the poor service. They refused and said “not refundable.” Don’t waste time and money with Varsity Tutors. Sylvan Learning Center is much better and has helpful knowledgeable staff. Update: After posting this review, Varsity Tutors staff contacted me to issue a full refund and requested that I update this review. As of 12/18/24, I have received a full refund and an apology.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! UNETHICAL business practices! I canceled my account and they keep charging my credit card and yet they deny reimbursement. They have charged me $2500 and my children have only received a few sessions. The date of this experience is later, after they have continued to charge me.
