Moved my daughter from failing to an A!

My daughter is taking a dual credit college Chemistry class in high school. Her first test grade was so bad that I sought help for her immediately. She had her second exam today and scored a 95! I am very impressed with the level of help and care from her tutor who not only tutored last night but still worked with her on some last minute practice problems on the way to school this morning!

overpriced and meh at best

instant tutors are terrible, they have no idea what they are doing. scheduled tutors seem to be decent. overall it seems to be overpriced as tutors are making next to nothing and you are charged top dollar. i would recommend just hiring a local college student instead so your money isnt going to some company

Excellent service recovery

Update. A manager called me and we were able to work through the issue regarding the contradictory information that was provided. A very reasonable solution was reached, and their service recovery efforts and willingness to find a solution very much met my expectations and my son’s tutoring needs. ******************************** Our Tutor with Varsity Tutoring has been a lifesaver. My son describes her as an absolute wizard. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about Jennifer. I was disappointed with some contradictory information provided by Varsity Tutoring themselves however. Yesterday I was told I could pause our subscription so my son could take a short break, keep Jennifer as his tutor, and I could save some money. Today I was told that pausing is not an option. This misinformation cost me time, energy, and unnecessary coordination.

Unethical Practices and Disorganized Support: A Cautionary Tale of Working with Varsity Tutors

My experience working with Varsity Tutors was marked by profoundly inadequate tutor support services, the worst I have encountered in my entire career. The tutor-student matching process is chaotic at best—tutors are given mere minutes to accept assignments, with little to no effort made to ensure that the most qualified or well-suited tutor is paired with the student. This lack of care was particularly evident when one of my students was wrongfully charged an exorbitant amount for classes she could not attend due to technical issues. Despite multiple attempts to seek a resolution, Varsity Tutors' customer service completely abandoned her, offering no refund or assistance. When I reached out to tutor services regarding this issue, I also received no reply on multiple occasions, ultimately causing both of us to leave the company. The pay for tutors is equally unacceptable—$15 per hour, even with an advanced degree, while the company charges clients more than five times that rate. Since leaving Varsity Tutors, I’ve been earning four times as much at a different company that respects both its tutors and clients. For customers and tutors alike, there are far superior options available. I strongly urge potential clients to look elsewhere to avoid being taken advantage of by this company.
