This is the second time we have used Armishaws and again we were very pleased in the way all 3 men conducted themselves and the care they took in packing our goods in the wooden containers ready for storage. Excellent.

Friendly professional and hard-working. A military move can be stressful for the whole family. The removals are often a big part of it, having your whole life of possessions in one lorry can be a daunting experience. But when you get lads Ben and his team it makes the whole experience much more manageable even in 37 degree heat 🥵👌🏻.

Why we would never recommend Armishaws Removal company. We used Armishaws initially in October 2019 when we were leaving the uk to move to France. The first negative occurrance was that they gave us a quote which we accepted but then once they had collected our stuff they then increased the cost significantly saying there was more than they expected (although all but a couple of items had been shown to the member of staff they sent to our house to make the assessment of cost.) Second occurance: We asked if we required additional insurance but were reassured by the men who collected our belongings that this would not be necessary as our belongings had been packed into wooden containers and would not be removed from these until they arrived at our new home in France. Unfortunately Covid19 happened so we had to leave our belongings in storage with Armishaws until June 2020. We asked for them to allow another company to collect our stuff as they said they were unable to transport any earlier, they first quoted a significant amount of money to enable this to happen and then refused to allow anyone to collect our items quoting Covid19 as the reason even though removals were still taking place throughout the country and lorries were allowed access to France. We eventually received out items and were very upset to see all items had been taken out of the storage crates and appeared to have been packed haphazardly into a large lorry and trailer. The delivery men were apolagetic but due to how our belongings had been packed; a number of items had been damaged including two legs being broken of a sideboard, Motorbike helmets that were packed in a box were no longer usable as they had stacked so much on top of them the plastic box was destroyed therefore undue pressure was put on the helmets making them unfit for purpose. Many plastic boxes storing our belongings were broken with picture frames that were inside also being broken ...I could go on. I was extreemly upset by this and also the fact that our belongings were packed so haphazardly that tools like a dirty wheelbarrow for example was stacked on top of our sofa. We knew there was an element of insurance cover and naively assumed that as the damage had occured directly as a result of what Armishaws had done, that we would get compensation. Please everyone; look at the small print in your contract as they are only liable to pay £40 for each box or item damaged or destroyed. Unhelpfully they also sent us a small cheque for damages in English pounds, not taking into account the cost to pay this into a French bank account resulting in us getting far less than the measly £40 an item/box. Also although the men who collected and delivered our stuff couldn't have been nicer; when trying to deal with the office in Wincanton, it was a totally different matter. They were neither friendly or helpful and quite patronising. I tried writing to the CEO but never received a response. I sent many photographs showing how our belongings were transported as well as the damage that had occurred but Armishaws showed no interest or concern at all. I would never use or recomend this company again and have ensured that I tell anyone who needs a removals company to keep well away from them. We do not accept the response we have received as we we did not add extra things totaling the amount Armishaws say. What in fact happened was the man who saw what we needed moving in fact underquoted initially and we therefore thought we were happy with the costs we thought we would incurr. We were not offered insurance or had it discussed with us on 7 occassions and we would have decided to take it out if we hadn't been reassured that our items would remain in the crates they were packed into. Staff at Wincanton were not always polite and as previously stated; the CEO didn't even bother to respond to us. Again, I would never recommend this company.

We have used this removal and storage company on three occasions and although there were some small issues along the way, Pat was always there to help and to get the problem sorted in an efficient and professional manner. I would recommend Armishaws to friends and family, especially while Pat is at the helm. Many thanks and all the best for the future.
