Brilliant crew

Brilliant crew, I am amazed how hard they all worked together as a team, total professionalism, nothing too much trouble. All the way through they smiled and created an atmosphere of calm. Nothing broken, no damage on arrival, all boxes labelled well, so easy to unpack. Well done guys, you deserve medals! A Mention in Despatches to all three. 'Colonel' Armishaw must be immensely proud of this group.

My experience of Armishaws…

My experience of this removal company is that the employees who do the loading and unloading are polite and helpful, if rushed due to the pressure they are under to get to the next job. They also refused on the day to collect items from the loft, which was contradictory to what the surveyor who quoted for the job told me they would do, as I was on my own I really struggled to get heavy items down. The invoicing is a shambles with confusing statements sent that it is not possible to read properly, so you can’t check what you are paying for. The booking system is not clear and having thought I’d provisionally booked dates I ended up having to pay an extra 60% when It was not possible to proceed for reasons beyond my control. A number of items boxed up for going into storage were returned damaged with a painting canvas torn, lampshades crushed, broken crockery and the wooden frame of an antique mirror snapped.

Unexpected price hike after exchange

The initial customer service we received was very good and one of the reasons we chose Armishaws over other companies. It was a long distance move (in the UK) with full packing meaning the whole process took 4 days in total. Whilst the movers themselves were very good and all of our belongings were successfully packed, transported and unloaded, I felt really let down due to shock price increases post our exchange and the way the fuel surcharge was calculated. There were a number of false starts with our move due to issues further down the chain but we kept in contact with Armishaws throughout and they were understanding. We initially got the quote in January and went on their “preferred list” meaning we paid a small deposit and accepted the quote. This worked well as we had a point of contact and phones were always answered and emails replied to promptly. Due to the previous issues, we were essentially able to select a completion date and the rest of the chain would work around our date. Before exchanging contracts we called Armishaws and asked what dates would work for them and were told that the last week of May would be possible but tight and a date in early June would be better for them. On the morning of exchange we made contact again to ensure the date was still available and went ahead and exchanged, confirming the booking with Armishaws as soon as we had confirmation from the solicitors. We were told via email prior to exchange that due to the unexpected cost of fuel rises there would be a fuel surcharge added of 50p per mile. The following day (post exchange of contracts), I received an email from the sales manager stating that as the quote was more than 90 days old it would not be honoured and their prices rise by 15% (plus VAT) for the months of June, July and August due to increased demand. This felt particularly underhand given we asked what date worked best for them and chose the June date for their benefit and at no point were told it would be an additional 15%. The T&Cs of the contract do state that the quote is only valid for 90 days after acceptance but the justification given for the increase was simply because the summer months are a busy period for them and we were even told that if we had moved in May they would have honoured the original quote despite being out of date. Whilst we were expecting to pay a fuel surcharge due to the sharp rise in prices since our initial quote, 50p per mile (plus VAT) charged for a round trip seemed excessive. When I raised that I was surprised it was for a round trip and queried why 50p per mile, I was told that diesel had gone up from £1.24 per litre to £1.87 so they weren’t passing on the full cost. My issue remains that they based the charge on the price increase per litre of fuel but actually charged this increase per mile, so unless they only get 1 mile out of a litre of diesel, it is considerably overcharged. I was told though that as I “swallowed” the price increase they would round things down (having previously rounded up the mileage) saving me £37.50 (the fuel surcharge alone was an extra £200 + Vat). Due to the tone of the responses I received to raising these points I felt forced to accept these increases as we had already exchanged contracts and would find it nearly impossible to get another company for a 4 day move for a specific date with only 3 weeks notice. I raised these issues again to Armishaws post move and received a generic response saying they didn’t breach their contract (which I never suggested they did) and that they would look into how fuel costs are conveyed to customers to ensure it is clear and transparent. Personally I would never use Armishaws again and wouldn’t be able to recommend them as we felt so let down by the way the price increase was handled. ***Edit After Armishaws Reply*** Unfortunately Armishaws did not take into account the contact from my partner who used her phone to contact them on Friday the 13th May when they were going through their call records to decide that my review was not “factually accurate”. I think their response also shows some of the issues I had with them as both the packing material and driver rate increases were already factored into the initial quote which I accepted in January. The fuel cost increases were passed on separately, in addition to the 15% price rise for moving in June (which we were never told about). The movers themselves were actually very good but the communications and dealings from head officer really lets the company down.

Efficient, Careful and Courtious

We moved from a 3 bed house and did our own packing. However, we had a lot of stuff having moved just over a year ago from a 5 bed house. As we were moving locally, Armishaws would shuttle our belongings over two days with two men. They arrived promptly, worked extremely hard and professionally. They were extremely careful and we would say there was very little to no damage. This was our 10th move having used the usual big names and corporate movers. Armishaws were amongst the best and we would recommend.

Wincanton.

Wincanton. Amazing customer service from start to finish. During the stressful period of moving home, they were there. Right from the quotation through to the finish. The ladies in the office are so patient! I think I drove them crazy with all the swapping around of dates!🤪 Thank you for burdening some of the stress and removing some of the pressure. Highly recommended.

Shropshire to Buckinghamshire

We recently moved from Shropshire to Buckinghamshire with Armishaws. We had Alec and Phil conduct the packing a move. They were great guys that worked hard and completed the move with no damages. They are both a credit to the company.

smooth professional move!

We had a very smooth professional move! At very short notice with lots of changes to our dates and address we’re no problem for Armishaws removals. The staff on the phone were great the valuation of the move very professional. The guys handling our furniture and outdoor huge garden pots were amazing and not a problem for them. Jordon was with us from the start packing and saw it all the way through which I personally think was great as there was no confusion as to what was what….. They were very helpful, fun to have around and I can’t recommend them highly enough.
