Job 922388. Poor communication and slow service

I have had a long and disappointing experience trying to get a simple repair to my Elica Sienna over hob filter. Elica advised that Capital Repairs were their repair agents for my address. Initial contact was easy and an appointment was made for an engineers visit. From then onwards things were not good: 2/12/20 house call from engineer. Said 2 parts needed replacing which he would order. Took wrong model details despite my pointing this out. Paid £90 10/12/20 called by Jasmine. They need correct model number! I explained not known by me but I sent photos of the appliance. 17/12/20 no news so I called. Kelly said Jasmine only works part time and had left no notes. I repeated the details above! 12/1/21 no news so called again. I went through whole story again with Sue who said nothing had been done yet! Sue promised to investigate and be in touch. 19/1/21 9.30am called and spoke to another agent (G). Sue is on phone but will call me back. She didn’t. 19/1/21 11.30am I called back. Kept on hold for 10 mins before speaking to Lisa. She will email photos to Elica and get back to me with an answer. I was pretty angry that nothing has happened before now. 19/1/21 14.55 Gillian with quote for parts. I paid £196.58. 2/2/21 No news. I called again Parts not in. They will contact Elica today and get back to me. 10/2/21 telephone call to say parts are in and book engineer visit. 16/2/21 engineer visit, refitted wand switch in 10 minutes. Variator not required. So after over 11 weeks and 9 phone calls initiated by me I finally have a working filter. I’ve also paid for a spare part that was not needed. However the most frustrating thing has been the lack of communication in your office and failure to keep me informed. Not a good experience

Oven Repair

I had a fault with my oven not working, put call out for an engineer, the engineer's name was Stuart, he was very efficient and did know his stuff. He managed to replace the faulty element from his stock in the van, and was gone within the hour. Thank you.

Thank you Mr Pearce for your response to my earlier poor review of your company but I'm afraid your response is based on assumptions and at times factually incorrect. Whilst I have concluded that you will not recompense me for the £108.00 charge for your engineer short circuiting my cooker hood you and any member of the public looking at reviews of your company should be aware of the facts. My original cooker hood was repaired around November 2019 by an authorised Elica agent and using genuine Elica parts. None of the replacement parts required any electrical work to be undertaken but simply fitted in to the fitted connector blocks. The original repairs carried out ensured that my original cooker hood worked perfectly well for around a year when the cooker hood lights failed a couple of weeks before Christmas 2020. Your engineer was fully aware that apart from the cooker hood lights not operating all the other electrical components were. It was only after he fitted the new transformer (which did require electrical work to be undertaken) and when the power was switched on, it was clear that he had managed to short circuit one or more other electrical components of the cooker hood. It is true that I did not wish your engineer to take my original cooker hood away as at that time I had no confidence in his 'expertise' nor was I happy in the manner in which he represented your company. I did confirm to your engineer and also Lisa that I would consider replacing my now totally defective cooker hood with a new one. Since then I have dealt directly with Elica UK and have received nothing but a totally positive customer service and response which is in contrast to that from your company. Although I am not an engineer I have not experienced any difficulty in attaching all the electrical components (plug in to connectors !!) nor at age 70 did I find the new cooker hood difficult to lift or install on my own. The bottom line is that it feels unreasonable you are unable to accept I paid £108.00 for apparent incompetence by your engineer which resulted in my original cooker hood suffering further problems than existed before his arrival. Hopefully you are now aware of the facts and how badly I feel let down by your company.

Good company to deal with

Engineer was polite and on time and clealry knew his stuff. The problem with my cooker was identifed, parts were ordered and the engineer returned as promised to fit the parts which sorted the issue. The price quoted was the final price so would reccomend this company.
