Gift membership.

I noticed that money had been taken from my bank account (nearly £150) by the NT at the start of December. When I finally spoke to someone I was told, as it is for a Gift Family Membership, I would have received paperwork in November giving me the option of cancelling. My family are moving abroad next year, so won't be able to use membership. Yesterday the paperwork arrived, December 14th. Today I have a letter thanking me for renewing the membership. No refund of money!

Systems designed by occupants of old properties!

Attempted to purchase gift membership online. After several failed attempts to access my account sent message and was eventually informed that sytems unavailable "whilst they upgarde" - pathetic! Why no notice before my numerous attempts? Spent 20 mins buying membership over 'phone which highlighted that nobody at NT has tested the process as a user which overlooks options such as declaring to whom renewal notice should be sent. Final insult was to be told that delivery could be 14 days - to print names on a card and put in post. Clearly using occupants from their old properties to design & run their systems!

Do NOT buy a gifts from the National…

Do NOT buy a gifts from the National Trust website! They use a 3rd party card supplier who is almost impossible to get hold of (Diggecard). My £50 gift card has not arrived and the online shop cannot help. There is no option for support on the confirmation email apart from an email address and the number just goes through to hold music and then cuts off. I thought maybe I could get a refund and buy a physical gift card from my nearest property instead, but I can't get hold of anyone who is willing to help. I am a member and have loved my membership so far, but now I feel like the company doesn't care. If you sell a product via a 3rd party, you should check they can deliver the service that you provide elsewhere in your company Needless to say, I will never be purchasing anything from their website again, which is a shame.

We have been National Trust members for…2 years

We have been National Trust members for a couple of years now and quite honestly we absolutely love it. We have bought membership for the family too so they can enjoy it. We thoroughly enjoy looking through the book of places to visit and we visit as many NT properties as we can get to; our favourite being Fountains Abbey. It is so beautiful and well maintained, lovely for walking and enjoying the fabulous scenery. The staff are all very nice too and will stop to chat as you are passing them by. The Deer Park is always an amazing place to visit and see the deer, seven bridges is also one of our favourite walks as is the temple walk. We went to the choir event and we were impressed with the light up of the Abbey. Thank you for maintaining this beautiful historic site so well and the many others we have visited. I feel much fitter and more educated about the places I visit and can't thank you enough for looking after them so well and making them available to the public.

Discriminates against the disabled

Anyone thinking of going to lyveden national trust, don't bother. Another one who says positives about inclusion but don't follow through. Yesterday my partner were seated and served food by them. But someone had put the table by the lift. No staff noticed until we were eating. Instead of politely asking us both to move and waiting while we did, they just said the table is in the wrong place to my partner. I had no idea what the issue was my hearing isn't great. The staff then started moving the table while my food and 2 coffees were on it. When I complained I was told that I was abusive. No I'm autistic and I speak plainly. So if you're in a wheelchair, Deaf or autistic be aware that's not really a place for us. Complaints met with no manager on site, no contact details available. Rude staff in shop. Don't waste your money. Edit My problem wasn't moving. My uncle and I had to deal with wheelchair accessible issues too. My problem was not communicating with me .. my hearing isn't the best. Then dragging my table with my food and coffees on it. I have not received any email from the national trust despite complaining a week ago. Again you have no interest in the disabled whether that disability is visible or not. Like

So im going through so financial…

So im going through so financial difficulties and cant afford to pay the membership prices anymore bear in mind ive been a member for a long time. Ive called up to cancel it and theyve told me i cant cancel it as its already renewed and have to wait for that year to be over with. I literally cant afford it. She said its a contribution. You're literally forcing me to pay this contribution. At this point if im being forced and held hostage over this then its no longer considered a contribution. I would have cancelled it and donated when i could if i had the spare change to do it. Once the years over i won't even donate anything to the national trust anymore. Not if this is how they do things. This 11.60 that ive been doing my best to keep up with was going to go towards my feeding myself every month, but that doesnt matter to as long as they get their money. Apparently theres a period of time that you can cancel being renewed and i totally understand that but i wanted to try and do my best to contributing and having the option to get out of my home for a day. Now i see i really cant afford to even do that but they wont let me cancel it. I'll never sign up again and just stick to going for a walk down the street.

Avoid this property in the Winter - too dangerous

The paths around the grounds of the Tredegar House property in Newport South Wales are a disgrace. In the summer they are passable but once the weather turns they become a muddy quagmire which are virtually impossible to get around unless you have a good pair of wellington boots on your feet. As a member who visits this site regularly for the beautiful walking that it provides I am having to look elsewhere for my walks as I feel it is getting too slippery and dangerous for me to continue to visit this property.

internal Awareness / External Media Doom

I can only imagine how frustrating it is dealing with all these misinformed angry reviews stired up by misinformation in the press regarding an obviously innocent and easily explained issue. I hope the people writing the angry reviews actually come back and read your measured and thoughtful reply. We regularly visit trust properties and support your great work and kind staff.

Volunteering with disabilities.

Volunteering with disabilities. The National Trust is proud of their disabilities awareness policy and awareness. But that’s where it ends nothing more then words. I have worked at two National Trust properties and suffered from Trust Managers and staff completely ignoring advice and treating me as someone who can hear! I always wore my Sunflower lanyard (Reconised Disability) with hearing impaired badge. Made no difference whatsoever. Management were well aware of my disability but that’s were it ended. I recently re applied to become a voluntary Gardener. First interview was planned and I showed up on time. No one knew I was coming so another interview was arranged two weeks later. Again, I arrived on time but no Manager to interview me. Have withdrawn my membership and am thoroughly disgusted at the way disabled people are treated.
