Beware ordering on the web site

Beware ordering on the web site. Just tried to complete a purchase using an e-gift card. Web site crashed out at point of purchase. Attempted to re-try and the gift card is now zero. Transaction must have processed on the gift card and cleared it out but without actually ordering anything.

The National Trust and See Tickets

We booked for the Christmas lights at Stourhead, but then due to one of us catching covid tried to swap the tickets for an alternative date. The See Tickets notes under popular questions refer to the fact that it is possible to swap tickets. When we checked there was lots of availability but the online system did not give us the option to change the date. We emailed See Tickets customer care but just got a generic reply that tickets could not be transferred, exchanged or refunded once purchased. We sent a further email which customer care never responded to. We were not able to change the date so lost the money we paid. Our advice is not to make an advance booking but to book at the last minute. Looking at some of the reviews on See Tickets on Trustpilot we are surprised that the National Trust allows its name to be associated with See Tickets.

This is for their holiday cottages…

This is for their holiday cottages review experience. Stayed in two last year. One was lovely. Although descriptions not really accurate. The other was not good. What I find awful is trying to find reviews of the cottages. This is via Feefo. But only if you actually booked the cottage. If you were on holiday ( partner, wife, friend of whoever booked it you cannot review ). This really curtails the number of reviews given. Feefo also do not organise the reviews to enable anyone to sensibly retrieve information about a particular location. NT should be more confident of their offering and allow reviews on their own websites. You are hiding less favourable cottages at the expense of the better ones.

4th year of purchasing a joint membership but even if there are vouchers out there to get a discount(4 I found) you just cant get anything off! When I approached them about this and sent oics they have ignored me! You have to prebook to use Hatfield Forest at weekends which is a pain too! All seems to be downhill now👎

Useless Online Purchase System

I tried to place an order at the National Trust online shop. The system just did not work - it failed to complete the purchase. I tried on a mobile and on a PC using Chrome then Edge browser. Failure every time. I rang the Online Shop and tried to get help. They could not solve the problem. Seems it is a regular problem. BUT no way to place the order over the telephone. Point blank refused! Gave up totaly and turned to Amazon whose sytem works and there is no charge for postage. Guaranteed delivery tomorrow. Never again with the National Trust.

Great customer support phone line

Just wanted to say the national trust customer service department were very helpful and understanding. I spoke to a wonderful chap called Andy and later Mark in the shop who helped me tremendously and were both patient with my problem. Thank you for providing a great call service that helps people through their issues.

Tredegar House, Newport, S.Wales

This applies to Tredegar House, Newport rather than National Trust generally. We were surprised and impressed at how interesting it was looking around the house. It was made more interesting by the volunteers who were on hand in every room who provided a wealth of interesting information and could answer any question. It was better than any history lesson. The best heritage house experience we've had.

NATIONAL DISGUST

I purchased a annual family membership earlier in the year and have enjoyed a few places but have just realised my membership does not give me entry to special event such as the Christmas one at Stourhead which is local to me. They expect members to pay the same price as non members which I find ridiculous. I will not be renewing my membership and instead I will get my family a annual membership to Longleat at a similar price which is also local to me and their membership includes all events throughout the year of which there are many including the Christmas lights (festival of light), fireworks, balloon festival and so on. National trust are simply greedy.

Gift Aid charges!

Why do NT charge extra £1 on non-member entry at say Cragside to allow gift-aid to be claimed? No need for this greed, they can claim tax relief on the standard admission. This will encourage people to not tick the box and result in losses. Anyway, we just joined NT for Scotland as it saves us £40 per year as seniors.

Foxhunting on NT land

A huntsman has pleaded guilty to fox hunting charges on National Trust land. Do you now realise 'trail hunting' is a front for foxhunting NT ?
