Awful service
Awful service. Tried to renew my annual membership (in fact tried to upgrade to a joint senior membership) and managed to speak to an advisor and was advised that my payment datails had been taken, and the renawal would be completed off call, and i would receive an email which would act as a membership confirmation pending delivery of a new card. To date 8/2/23 to 16/2/23 no such e mail has been received. Furthermore my membership appears to be still showing renewal required. I have tried to contact an advisor, but kept on hold for over 20 mins on two separate occasions.. I have also sent 2 x e mails which remain unanswered. Very poor customer service, and experience... Ive given up the renewal process and this after being a member for some years. Get a grip National trust..

All lines of communication currently broken
Applied for joint membership online and verified the money was taken from my account. The website says a link to temporary membership will arrive within 30 minutes - no emails whatsoever after more than a week! During this time, I've emailed them 3 times... no response. I've attempted to telephone their helpline three times - they don't answer. The online login is down with some excuse about updating their IT system. It appears to be impossible to contact this organisation, they took my money and haven't delivered the service. Even if my membership pack by some miracle arrives within the stated 28 days, I will have paid for 12 months membership and received 11. This is an organisation in crisis - I wish I'd read the June 2021 Spectator article before trusting this band of crooks with my money, I suggest anybody who hasn't read this article should Google it before conducting any business with the NT.

Review by Martin regarding Kymin Round House
I've just read the review by Martin regarding the Kymin Round House. No, we are not well heeled but me and my OH who at 67 years old is still working and was a key worker all through the pandemic, did enjoy an amazing W/E staying at the National Trust Kymin Round House. I had read some reviews of visitors in the past and was aware that it had been contentious with the redundancy of the two custodians. The general picture was that for £3 admission the experience of visiting the little folly was a bit disappointing whereas we had an incredible experience of bird watching, sunrises and sunsets and the wonderful woods nearby. On the Sunday many came to picnic and play ball games on the green so I find it difficult to see what the problem is. I can well imagine the custodians will miss what must have been 17 glorious years living up there. My daughter experienced redundancy just before the pandemic as well as having a partner who was deployed in Mali for 6 months last year. I hope that the bad feeling that the decision made by the National Trust will lessen with time and those who truly understand how business's work will continue to support an organisation that endeavours to protect old and precious buildings so often costly money pits.

BEWARE: Subterfuge by the National Trust
I bought life membership for my granddaughter in early January and it includes a guest. Two weeks later I bought life membership for my grandson and his doesn’t include a guest. Their system changed mid-January and although I had phoned in advance asking if there were any price changes due I was told not until March 2023. So for the same price two cousins have vastly different memberships and they won’t give me a refund of the inferior membership. Devious practice for an organisation that depends so much on good will.

Have some empathy for the employees at NT because none of them are happy there. It's a terrible place to work. I'd go home crying every night and wake up full of dread about what hell I'd be walking back into. Nasty management, all best mates together, and when I resigned the things I tried to highlight just got thrown in the bin.

Sheringham Park
Sheringham Park Tried to hire a mobility scooter at 2.30pm at the weekend and was flatly refused even though I could easily have returned it well before closing time at 4pm. Staff very unhelpful. We used our own wheelchair and had a lovely time but it is steep in places so wouldn’t work for everyone. Unable to book in advance so very difficult for people with mobility issues.

Lost trust in National Trust
Having volunteered for the Trust for nearly 20 years, I recently visited my favourite property, The Kymin Round House, Monmouth, formerly accessible to everyone, saddened to see it being converted into holiday let accommodation and the once beautifully kept grounds looking somewhat unkempt. This used to be a vibrant community hub with a range of events throughout the year, helping to connect the property with the local community and history. The Round House will now only be enjoyed by a few very well-heeled people. All part of the Trust's move over some years now to a more corporate and commercial approach. I'm one of many disenfranchised volunteers and will never volunteer for this organisation again. There are still some very good people working for the Trust at ground level but the way this organisation is being led, frankly beggars belief. I would also like to point out that the mass redundancies, pushed through by the Trust during the Covid epidemic, shamelessly citing the epidemic as an excuse, was all done under the auspices of Tim Parker as Chairman of Trustees. Of course he has now left the Trust but I would encourage anyone to look up his business record, a private equity tycoon dubbed ‘the prince of darkness’ in the City for his willingness to preside over mass redundancies. He also came to prominence as Chairman of the Post Office due to the Horizon IT scandal. Another indication of the way the National Trust has been choosing to head from the top for some years now.

Baddesley Clinton
Baddesley Clinton Visited this house today and what a beautiful place it is. The history of the people that lived there, the house itself and most particularly…the staff. Absolutely fantastic! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a man, we are scousers and he recognised this and said he was a scouser himself, had a laugh and he told us about the years of the house and how long it’s stood. Then we went through to Lin who was absolutely amazing with all the history she knew about the quartet that lived there and the “hall”. The rest of the staff throughout I didn’t catch their names but were absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much to the Wednesday staff!

THE NATIONAL DISGRACE!
THE NATIONAL DISGRACE! Quoted from there own website "is to play a major role in the fight against climate change". Visited the Circles Restaurant at Avebury last week, heating on high throughout restaurant and door wide open. Asked why and was told " so people can see we are open?? We are in an energy crisis, costs never been higher!!! There is a very big sign outside stating they are open and the opening times and all the lights were on. Typical of the NT, expect people to donate to them and then waste money. Used to be a member but the more I found out about them the more disgusted I became. They seem to think they are the land owners. it will come back to the mass trespass and the right to roam again eventually with there attitude. I remember during the pandemic when people were finally allowed out and really needed to get out. In the hour of need of the people when they could have done something what did the NT do? Ban anyone from staying on "THEIR" lands! Scotland opened up areas of land for the people. I really feel there should be a serious investigation into the running and direction the trust is being taken. They are becoming like the land owners of old "get of my land"
