Full price and half the access
Recently visited Tredegar House, Newport, South Wales and also given our visit to Dunster Castle, Somerset this time last year, I am disappointed that entrance prices to these were normal price with no concessions because of partial closure. Dunster Castle was not open to the public, access to the grounds only. Access to ground floor only for Tredegar House. I appreciate this is a charitable organisation reliant on public funds and understand the closure due to covid, but you should still get the service that you pay for, or be told otherwise when paying the entrance fee so you can make an informed choice whether to go in.
I've found my membership to be…
I've found my membership to be worthwhile, simply because of the wide array of attractions available. I don't like sometimes having to pay an additional fee to gain entry, having already paid for membership, hence 4 stars not 5, but they do some good work
Paid for joint membership last year and…
Paid for joint membership last year and was only able to use once as lockdown shut places near me. This year renewed membership in July and still no cards on 31st August. Have phoned and just get told use temporary printed cards. Have emailed and no reply whatsoever. National Trust is very quick to take the money but rubbish in dealing with their own inefficiency re administration. Not impressed. English Heritage is a far better organisation who seem to manage their efficiency much better,

Whilst is saddens me a little to post this review as a supporter of the Trust . My wife and I who live local to Kinver Edge and regularly visit we today shocked and surprised by a member of the Trust staff called Louise. Her attitude , tone and rudeness far outweighed her role in supervising people seeking to support the on site cafe. Notwithstanding Vivid she clearly delights in bossing people about and needs to realise just how unfriendly and patronising she is. Such a shame others we have encountered all seem lovely. Think someone needs to enlighten her to the face that perception is reality. No doubt she would be very defensive if given feedback her type often are.
Dunham massey
Dunham massey Wow, ever thought of teaching staff to communicate I’ve a joint membership stated on the card and visited today to walk the dogs as I do most days of the week Now I have to bring both cards although they know me, joint on the membership is irrelevant, both cards or you will be in trouble. Oh I’ll let you off today ha ha what a whoops on the gate Dear oh dear what a crap organisation and to think they milked furlough, closed parks and I didn’t complain about the membership months lost Get professional management and ditch the woke snowflakes who just p your membership off
Plenty of places to visit
Plenty of places round the Midlands to visit. We try to make full use of our membership. Ideal when we holiday in other parts of the country. Normally look on the app and see what is near our location.
I am giving a 1 star review because of…poor customer service
I am giving a 1 star review because of the non existent customer service I have been receiving .I have been a member for many years as has my wife and we have enjoyed visiting many lovely places . I hate poor customer service , I bought a gift membership for my sister's birthday and was informed 21 days before she received her lack in the meantime I would receive temporary card so she could get started . I have not received a card and have emailed twice with no response . This is not acceptable my sister will have lost nearly a month of her years member ship by the time she received her pack what are you doing hand writing the thing . They say in their online help section they will get back hopefully within 10days ! Unacceptable ! Send a pigeon it will be quicker ! I honestly love being a member of the trust but I hate poor customer care to the hierarchy get off your backsides and sort this out ! to the great staff we meet thank you for making our visits great will be phoning tomorrow pass me on to some in authority at the very top I need to have a chat 😡😡.addition since this post I have made phone contact and been told they couldn’t extend the gift membership by a month so I cancelled and was told that was fine I would get a refund (rec’d) .so in short I had to cancel and re apply to save the month they couldn’t ,wouldn’t extend RUBBISH SERVICE !!!!!
A recent visit to Stourhead was truly…
A recent visit to Stourhead was truly disappointing. The entrance is now £18 per adult. This includes the gardens and house. If the house is closed, tuff, it’s still £18.00. This seems to be a huge increase from previous years pay structure. And no concessions for OAP. Looking forward to my first cream tea.... Motorway service station is the best description. Dry scone - no idea how long it had been sitting in the fridge. Boring pot of jam. Where once a National Trust cream tea had been one of delight, it has now become at best meh. National Trust has become lazy and cheeseparing,
Previous guests' sheets and towels
We arrived a day later than the booked arrival date so as not to arrive late at night - to find the cottage hadn't been made up. The bed was stripped with the sheets of the previous family piled up on the bed and their dirty towels were in the bath. There was no mobile phone signal but fortunately the gardening and gate staff were there and let me use the landline in the office to call the cottages helpline. Had we arrived the night before, these members of staff wouldn't have been there and we would have been totally stuck, late at night with nowhere to stay, travelling with a one year old baby and a 6 year old girl. When I spoke to someone at the contact centre, he told me he would log the issue and we would have to wait for a response. It was 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and he was unable to say when we would hear back from someone. I'm not sure what he expected us to do with nowhere to stay and a one year old baby in tow. Thankfully, there was a member of the gardening team onside and she managed to get me a call from a manager, who called me back. He said it would be 1-2 hours until someone could visit the cottage. The gardening team said no clean linen was stored on site so it was unlikely we would be able to stay the night. As we were 5 hours away from home, I did not want to be hanging around waiting, whilst the hours ticked by. So thankfully the manager arranged a refund and we left the cottage to return home. Having driven for 5 hours, we now faced a 5 hour return journey with a one year old baby and a 6 year old girl who was crying as her holiday had just been cancelled. We wrote to National Trust but nearly 3 weeks later, still have not had a response.
Tried to use a gift card several times
Tried to use a gift card several times. Places we tried said don't take. Emailed national trust head office(seemed to be in ground hog day doing this) to ask how to get time extended due to covid( and most of the places not fully open) no reply so far. Really don't recommend anyone buying a gift card as a gift as a waste of your money
