Disappointing response to COVID
What a lovely gift for Mothers’ Day 2020 I thought - family membership for the National Trust. Then COVID lockdown and since then further lockdowns and tiers. Like many others I’m sure I requested an extension to my membership and was granted just 3 months which gives me until the end of June 2021 to make use of my gift. Given the current lockdown I requested an extension till the end of the year. This was refused and instead 25% off a further year’s membership was offered. This is shameful. I must be just one of hundreds short-changed by the National Trust’s response to COVID. Read your reviews NT and restore the trust into your organisation.
Visited Dunham Park nr Altrincham…
Visited Dunham Park nr Altrincham Cheshire today and very Disgusted by the greed of the park or NT. Wanted to charge £8per person not per car. You awful greedy @#£&*%!". In the middle of a pandemic where peoples mental health is at a low and you charge extorsionate rate. You are a disgrace of a place........
It’s the end of the NT as we know it (apologies to R.E.M.)?
A group of us were looking forward to our forthcoming retirements and to take trips to view NT properties, which we’ve enjoyed as members for 30 years or more. Sadly, we have all taken the decision to leave. There are many articulate and heart-rending One-Star reviews here from ex-members fearing for the future of the NT, all of which I heartily agree with. However, the plain truth is that unless the current management is swiftly replaced with a qualified, understanding and sympathetic team to get it back on track the NT we love will no longer exist. More importantly, if the “reimagining” that is currently underway is completed the majority of members and former members will not give a damn as all we held dear will have vanished from the landscape. We are not fools and fully appreciate what foundations many of the properties are built on, without having to confront dumbed down interactive displays aimed at brainwashing our children. You have to wonder if whether the minority factions continually apologising on our behalf for all historic injustices are just trying to increase their own profiles by doing so, or is something more sinister going on? Either way it's unpalatable.
Is it possible the National Trust have woken up?
Is it possible the National Trust have woken up? Along with many NT members I was considering cancelling my membership because of the direction the NT was going. Having just studied the 2021 Handbook I am somewhat mollified since the photographs of visitors are now more representative of the diverse UK population. The National Trust needs to concentrate on what it was set up for - preserving our heritage.
Myself and husband have recently…
Myself and husband have recently visited Brockhampton Court in Herefordshire to walk our daughters dog, we were greeted by Jan, what a lovely lady, she explained to us that we had to be members of the National trust in order to enter, we had a great chat about Brockhampton Court and some history, she said we could walk the dog in a certain area, which we did, upon returning home, we sat with a warming cup of tea and got straight onto the National Trust website and joined, this weekend I returned with my daughter and went for a very wet walk walk, we saw Jan again which was brilliant as I was able to tell her that we had joined, mostly as a result of her, both my husband and myself both said that we really liked her, full of information but happy to be doing what she was doing, genuine, chatty and extremely helpful, thank you Jan
Cancelled our annual subscription today...
Like many other on here, after many years we have cancelled our membership of the National Trust. We are fed up with the 'woke agenda' and the constant 'sermonising' we are now subjected to when visiting N.T. properties. We should be celebrating the good things about our past not made to feel guilty every time we visit. Enough is enough! Until the Trust change direction we won't be re-joining along with quite a few others I suspect!
NATIONAL TRUST NO LONGER FIT FOR PURPOSE
After being a member for 20 years I will not being renewing my membership. Every property now gas so many left wing woke displays that I can no longer support this organisation. I want an organisation that is apolitical not one that pushes a trend down visitors throat.
Disappointed beyond words
Having been members for over ten years my wife and I reluctantly decided we no longer had any confidence in the policies or stewardship of the National Trust. The woke left wing leadership appear to have lost contact with reality. They seem to prefer trashing our history and culture, to actually preserving what should be treasured. Interestingly they don't even know why we decided to leave as they never asked on the phone or even bothered to say they were sorry to see us go.
No response to Members Views?
After many enjoyable yrs I am now seriously considering canceling my membership as the NT has become extremely political and no longer worthy of charitable status. I give it a year to clear up this self imposed mess and revert back to its founding aim of preserving our heritage, enhancing our green spaces and making them accessible to all. The Trust must respond immediately to the negative comments from members, it does itself no favour in refusing to engage with valid concerns. A recognition that they may just have been wrong in commissioning such a narrow report would be a good start. Also that the elite executive are still paying themselves £200k ( equivalent to 5 critical care nurses) is obsene , whilst at the same time making loyal, hands on, staff redundant. No Charity should pay anyone more than an MP. If the NT are concerned about how slavery might be/have affected their inclusiveness why don't they use their influence to ensure that modern day slavery in the UK is stamped out. With their headquarters in Rotherham they have sex slavery on their doorstep.

Always had fantastic visits at whichever place we go to. The lake District is full of beautiful places and the national trust do an outstanding job at making these enjoyable for all. Informative tours and great guides make excellent one off experiences memorable.
