Be careful

Be careful! I bought a set of phones for my elderly father through this company. It quickly emerged after a week that the system for navigating to the answer machine function was very complicated and was not going to be suitable for him. Because the original packaging had gone into recycling, we were not able to return the phones or get a refund (or even a partial one). This is why I prefer to deal with Amazon. If something goes wrong, the return process is straightforward, and if packaging is missing they don't refuse to help. Further update: I see that the company DID accept to refund an order without the original packaging on 28th December (review: Clare Kidd). So at the very least, policy is applied inconsistently by this company. To any prospective purchaser, you can buy much cheaper ones on Amazon, and you can have mine for less than half price on Ebay - not that they are likely to sell. The reviews of this phone on Amazon are TERRIBLE! As other have found, they are complicated to use for elderly users.

Bought a telephone for the hard of hearing for my elderly dad. The difference in being able to communicate with him is unbelievable! The whole family have noticed a huge improvement. The service we received from ordering to delivery was really great.

Excellent service and product…

I researched phones for hearing aid users for my parents who are in their nineties and needed a 'simple to use ' phone as similar to their old one as possible. I also needed the phone to be easy to install and set up. This phone fits all the points I required. I wasn't sure if I was eligible for the vat off so paid full price but later rang and asked an extremely helpful person who said my parents were eligible as they wore hearing aids and the VAT was returned to my account. I have had to write our some VERY simple step by step instructions for using the phone book and the ABCD buttons as my parents take time to adapt to something hew but overall I am extremely pleased with the product and care. The only issue I have noticed is when the phone rings the ring tone on just the base unit also makes a strange vibrating noise.

We just want a working phone or our money back

We ordered an emporia 5 smart phone for my elderly mother with Alzheimer’s through Amplified telephones. We received it quickly but from day 1 we were unable to log in to the phone. We returned it as amplified said what we were experiencing didn’t seem right (after they reviewed screenshots sent via email). Since then they contacted the manufacturer who have said that this was a brand new phone, and that it is likely a user error, and therefore Amplified Telephones will not refund us the £241 we paid. They have also said if we want the phone (that we can’t log in to) back, we need to send them a further £13. The staff we have dealt with have been polite and tried to be helpful, but at the end of the day, we have no phone, no £241, and the options we have been provided are to pay a further £13 to get the defective phone back or have them dispose of it for us. We have ended up requesting a refund via our credit card. I can’t stress how disruptive and disappointing this has been to a family struggling to look after a vulnerable elderly parent. Urging other families not to buy through this site as we are currently without either the phone or our £241.
