All very efficient from my first contact and until the bill was paid. Nathan was most pleasant and did a thorough inspection that was helpful explaining why the drains may have been smelling. The cost took me aback but I am relieved that there is no structural problem.

That's a week of my life I'll never get back.

18 hours ago New Live dangerously and test your patience by booking a call out from MJ Harris to fix your shower. For £42 you can wait a week for a 'same day' call - but only after you've called them every day to remind them. Add to the excitement by taking a few days off work to sit at home waiting for them. Make a bingo card of phrases they'll throw into every conversation - You're the next call on the schedule. - He'll be with you this afternoon. - He's been delayed on the previous job. - He'll call you half an hour before he's due. If you're lucky and an electrician does eventually turn up he'll quote for the job at a vastly inflated price because, you know, "if you want a quick job you have to pay for it". Then he'll leave you without a written quote or time frame for when someone will eventually turn up to do the work. Reader. I cancelled them.

Worst company I have ever used

Worst company I have ever used. I booked them Monday and they promised a same day visit. It is now Friday and no sign. Despite being told 'tomorrow' every day this week. This company is not scaled to meet the demand of work that it accepts. The staff absolutely lack accountability, and any sort of effective management. If my name was on this business I would be embarrassed by my own inadequacy. Bottom line Mark, if you are not up to the job just get out of the way of reputable repairman. This company is a stain on the hard working contractors of Hereford.

I have no problem with the actual work…

I have no problem with the actual work or with the engineer who was very efficient and helpful. I was dissapointed in having to wait for almost a week in view of your promises to get to me sooner. As an elderly person it is not good to have to wait at home with nothing happening as I am sure you will understand, but I did appreciate the fact that you did keep in touch.

Competent but far too expensive.

The plumber they sent was knowledgable, professional and did the job satisfactorily. But I paid £45 for the call out, then another £210 for the job, which was 15 minutes work putting in a new kitchen tap, that I supplied. Crazy money. The customer services people I dealt with were also knowledgeable and quick to answer questions, but always sounded rushed and impatient to end the call - I assume because they're busy, but still left a sour taste. They also cancelled my first appointment right at the end of the day, after I'd arranged for several members of my family to be in the house waiting, covering school runs etc. They seem like a generally competent and well-organised company, but I can't understand those high fees, and won't be using them again for this reason.

Avoid M J Harris Ltd at all Costs

MJ Harris offered me an afternoon slot for an engineer to visit my home, to install parts for a gas fire. The parts were all ready in my possession at my home, ready for a gas engineer to fit. I was charged £42 to book the engineer. I was promised a phonecall half an hour before the visit from the engineer. I left work early to ensure I was home in time to receive the engineer. The phonecall I received was from call centre, apologising that the engineer was ill and had to go home. So the visit was postponed for a morning appointment the next day. Again, I was promised a phonecall half an hour before arrival from an engineer. What I received was another call from the call centre, explaining that it would be an afternoon visit. Rinse/Repeat. I reluctantly accepted, with alarm bells ringing in my head, fearing that I wasn't going to see an engineer and that my £42 was going for a Burton. Guess what? I had a phonecall, from the call centre, apologising that I wasn't going to have an engineer visit, as they had fallen behind. I now await my refund, which I was told would take 48 hours to process, thus would likely take to the middle of next week. In a way, having found out that they charge an exorbitant £175 per hour, £42 for a quote that never happened may actually have been a blessing. At least I can get it refunded. A local Gas engineer has now quoted me £50 for the visit and the work done, so please avoid this company at all costs. They claim to be local, use local numbers online that match the dialing codes for the area that you're searching in, but in fact the calls are routed through to Monmouthshire. It's very misleading. It's not as it seems. Don't give this company your money. It's that simple - find a local, trustworthy and competent person. It's a shame in many ways that I had to afford them 1 star. If I had the choice, I'd have preferred to give them 0. Let's see if the refund is issued.....

Excellent overall experience. professional and knowledgeable with a good willingness to take time to hear our drainage problem. Your polite and inobtrusive service engineer who dealt with us at our home, offered very sound advice. We will definitely use your company again as it was also good value compared to your national competitors.
