The team at Moorfields is also impressive, including those who carry out the eye tests at consultations before and after the operation. Mr. Maurino was amazing. I’ve previously had complications with my first cataract operation which was operated on a few years ago. Was extremely nervous about the operation and was put to ease by Mr. Maurino. Everything was perfect. I felt calm and at ease in the care of Mr. Maurino. I am four days post op and there’s been no issues with my eye. I would recommend Mr. Maurino to anyone, one of the best in the world!! I would only want to see Mr. Maurino for any other future eye related procedures.

The whole procedure was outstanding. For various reasons I was hesitant to go ahead with cataract surgery but I was encouraged to think about things and there was never any pressure go ahead - if anything the opposite with a clear, no-nonsense explanation of the risks. Mine was a bit more complicated than most and I felt all the issues were fully explored (including a second opinion from another specialism). When I decided to go ahead all was as professional as you could hope for and the outcome is fantastic.

I have worn glasses for almost 67 years and cataracts in both eyes were developing. I need to drive as we have no bus route local to our home. Mr. Marino performed the surgery one week apart. The team was excellent and surgery painless. Now 5 weeks later I can drive without glasses and even read a newspaper though for smaller print a pair of 'off the shelf ' glasses is more than adequate. I had vision correction surgery with Doctor Maurino back in September 2020 and my experience has been perfect and enjoyable from start to finish. Practically no waiting time, you are kept informed all the way through and most importantly: you are not rushed, you really feel you can ask questions and send emails if you need more information. My experience with Mr.Maurino was a efficient and informative. During the consultation Mr Maurino explained in detail what I needed to have done to my eyes to help with my requirements. All details of the procedure to have Refractive Lens Exchange were explained. The post operative procedures (prior to discharge) were again useful.

I went to Mr Maurino in August 2020 for corrective surgery. I wasn’t suitable for laser but I was suitable for ICL surgery. mr Maurino explained everything to me and put my mind at ease. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was four (little specky-four-eyes) and was long sighted with acute astigmatism. During the summer of 2019 I was diagnosed with cataracts and by Christmas I could no longer use the glasses I had been prescribed and switched to contact lenses. Lockdown happened while I was still considering my options so in August 2020 I elected to go to Moorfields as my work was beginning to be affected and going privately also gave me a greater choice of lenses with the possibility of toric lenses to correct my astigmatism. My ambition was to be able to read the TV menu from the other side of the room which had become my benchmark and to be driving legal without glasses. At my final check I was astonished to find I now have 20/20 vision. It’s so incredible it feels like science fiction (we can rebuild you!). I was understandably very anxious before the procedure but there was nothing to worry about. It was painless and the staff were really considerate. I elected to have both eyes done at the same time because of covid so recovery was a bit more challenging but didn’t last long. I am so grateful to Mr Maurino and his team, all of whom were wonderful. I feel I had the very best of care and an amazing outcome which is thrilling. A massive thank you to you all!
