Don't use, read this if you are thinking about it!

Look elsewhere - this company will let you down, damage your possessions and overcharge you. Do your research before choosing Armishaws. If you want to know more read this: We booked Overs of Camberley (owned by Armishaws) to move out into storage and move from storage into our new home. What an absolute disaster of service and company! So many things went wrong. We are out of pocket too. What started in good faith ended with a nasty, bitter taste and the realisation the Armishaws are a 'take what you can' type company without any care or consideration for their customers. Here are the key issues we faced: The price quoted originally was wrong; they added 25% onto the storage fee, but only once they had our items locked into their storage unit. So we had to pay for an additional 325 cubic feet of storage. The quote was done by someone visiting our house; they refused any liability and forced us to pay. We booked our move out of the store, and they couldn't do it for a few weeks after we needed it; we had to pay for more time storage that we didn't need. We stayed in storage for four months (Jan 21-April 21), and when we booked to move, they increased the onward move price by 42% from the original quote and would not entertain my arranging another removal firm due to COVID restrictions at their warehouse. Again we had to pay over the odds. Our belongings arrived in April. We noticed the damage when the first item was unloaded, not just scratches but significant damage. Smashed wardrobes, sofas damaged, classic furniture ruined, our children's bed snapped. They even lost the bolts of our son's bed! The list goes on, but the damage totalled £8,000 to replace it all. Armishaws refused to deal with me; they put me in touch with the 'Removal Claims Service', whose sole job was to reduce the claim. They offered us £1,500 We got nothing back for service; their strategy of 'ignore the customer' worked - I just got tired. The end result, we have a £8,000 claim on our home insurance. The insurance they offer is not worth the paper it's written on, they used eBay to value our property and refused to take away the damaged items. So we were lumbered with not only a large bill but also the cost to dispose of the (now unusable) items The moral of the story? DON'T USE THEM! Please, I really really mean it you can and will find better. I don't wish the emotional hardship we have been through on anyone. Some of our best furniture had to go in the skip, it's really quite sad. ****TO CLEAR UP ARMISHAWS FACTUALLY INCORRECT REPLY**** Armishaws refunded £50. They damaged £8,000 worth of furniture (new replacement cost), failed to assemble the furniture that wasn't broken and left us with a bill for rubbish disposal of £500. Armishaws sold our policy to us, at no point was it made clear it was someone elses and we were told we must get the insurance. We paid for £30,000 worth of cover which was not worth it, when it came to claim the policy just didn't cover anything. The loss adjuster that Armishaws appointed would not share the final valuation, it was not transparent at all. I requested the report and details and Armishaws refused to share this. Armishaws/Removal Claims Service offered £1,500 to settle. I withdrew from the negotiation in the end as it was not going anywhere and could not provide a raft of evidence they required, they threw up barrier after barrier. An independent loss adjuster from our insurance company viewed the damaged items and we had them replaced. I still had to pay to get rid of the damaged items. Armishaws won the business based on price and then increased it. We did not add any new items, everything was shown to the chap who came to our house to quote, it was their error which we had to pay for. Had they quoted correctly we would not have put our business their way. This is a classic example of Armishaws refusing to take responsibility. Finally ignoring the customer comment, Armishaws see complaints from Armishaws point of view and their point of view only. They reply and sign their emails with 'that is final' and then don't reply any more. They also won't speak to you on the phone. This was the same for the insurers. The whole process was made difficult in what felt like a ploy to make me give up. It worked, I gave up. To wrap up - I have written the above detailed reply to help you avoid making the very costly, very painful mistake we made by selecting Armishaws to move and store our things. Make sure you research before you pick Armishaws. There's **many** reviews out there other than the ones here

A massive thank you to Armishaws

A massive thank you and appreciation to Jason & the team that packed and moved our furniture into storage from our house in Guildford over 3 days. They always arrived on time, were very courteous and helpful throughout the move. This is stage 1 of our move and I am sure the team that move us in to our new home in Bushey when it is ready will be equally helpful. Excellent service Armishaws!!

So far not so good but excellent

They sent a team of three from Salisbury to pack and load the contents of our flat in Bath into containers for storage until our next home is ready. They arrived on time, were courteous, cheerful and helpful. The job was completed on schedule and we hope that it will be the same team that delivers in February. Will report again when the mve is completed.

Awful. Don't take the risk people. Customer service is not Armishaws foremost and finest quality.

Awful. 1 star as you cant do no stars. Do not make the mistake of trusting your expensive furniture with Armishaws. Why? On return from Armishaws storage 2 items of mint condition furniture were substantially damaged. Armishaws accept no liability and palm you onto Armishaws insurers, who in turn then state that the insurance policy sold by Armishaws pre-move was not insurance but "....simply entered a contract where the applicable Terms and Conditions apply", i.e. that Armishaws are not liable for the reinstatement of goods damaged but use Ebay to find similar items and offer you an indemnified offer of 1/3rd the value of the goods damaged. We did not accept Armishaws hedging and deferring and stated we do not accept that we should suffer any loss on items that were mint condition when they were removed by a supposedly professional company, and for which we had accepted and paid for Armishaws own insurance policy offered in the event of Armishaws careless failure to safeguard our possessions. The furniture was still available from the original store but our suggestion that Armishaws order the replacements and then remove the damaged furniture and sell them on Ebay themselves to recover their costs was not accepted. Instead we are left with a 1/3rd value offer and have to arrange the disposal of the damaged items ourselves. Don't take the risk people. Customer service is not Armishaws foremost and finest quality. There are more competent, more responsible customer service oriented removers.

I'm too polite to do this!!

I paid a deposit at the time of the estimator's visit for a proposed move to ensure that we would be allocated a December slot. My family thought that the price quoted was excessive and we therefore sought 2 further quotes both of which came in far, far cheaper. I emailed within the stated time and cancelled our reservation and asked for the refund of £400. To my upset and dismay, the sales manager rang and asked for my reasoning. I pointed out the discrepancy in quotes as I had already done on my email and he wanted to know who the companies were. I declined to advise him because I believe it has no bearing on it at all at which point he suggested that they were not bona fide companies - insulting to long established businesses. I was told on Oct 29th that the refund would be in my bank on the Nov 5th as I had missed the weekly run. Well, it is not there and today am told that it won't be there until the 12th. I would not recommend this company to anyone at all

Outstanding service

The Armishaw's service was outstanding. The removals team turned up on time on each of the three packing/moving days, worked extremely hard throughout, and were always cheerful, polite, and obliging. They even managed to get our piano into a very tight spot and manoeuvred a heavy sofa-bed up a narrow staircase into a first floor bedroom. Everything was carefully packed and the boxes clearly labelled. We could not fault the service we received and recommend Armishaws without reservation.

Beware of the penalties

Beware of the penalties. My move date fell through at the last minute and in the middle of this stress and having to sort out other removal companies to keep the chain alive, Armishaws only cared about the penalty fee. They would have almost certainly recouped their cost on this as well. The removal company we went for after them was a family run business, half the price and a much better experience.
