A simple warning....

I decided to wait a month before writing this review as I wanted things to get much better than they are. I purchased a walk-in tub due to my brother’s recent MS diagnosis. He needed something to be able to get in and out of the shower with ease. I also thought the advanced therapy jets for the legs would help with his circulation. I thought it would be beneficial for my elderly Mom, who is a dialysis patient. You go in thinking you are making such a huge change to make things better. My experience with this tub, it has made them worse. I am so disappointed and wish I never made this purchase, I will regret it forever. My issues start with the sales representative selling things that could not be done, which we did not find out until after the tub was installed, very convenient! We ordered a permanent showerhead to be fixed to the wall, which the sales rep assured us, could be done. When I saw that was not what we got, the installer said he has never installed a permanent showerhead in the 7-8 years he has worked at American Standard. We were told it does not come with the walk-in tub, it is handheld only, which we questioned more than once with the sales rep before we decided to purchase. The permanent showerhead was preferred due to my Mom’s issue with her arm due to her dialysis treatments and it is very difficult for her to maneuver the handheld up and down the slide pole. We also ordered to have a built-in shelf cut into the wall for us to have a place for shampoo/conditioner/soap. The installer told me that could not be done as the measurements were off. So now we have everything sitting on the back of the tub and when you shower or bathe, you must reach outside the curtain to get what you need. Their resolution to these 2 issues was a refund, which was going to be issued anyway as they did not provide what was ordered. There was no offer of a larger doorway, which we are now seeing on commercials and would have preferred. The door we have narrows at the bottom which makes it more difficult to get in and out. They did not even seem to care they have sales reps in the field selling items they cannot provide, making promises that will never be honored OR not providing all options for one to decide which is better for oneself. They got their money, that is all they care about. Almost 4 weeks in and the clear strips placed on the floor of the tub already came off. It is now a slip and fall situation waiting to happen. They did give us back-up, however, what do we have to do, change them every month, which means I now have to find where to purchase them and pay out of pocket. I do not know who came up with this walk-in concept, but their selling point should be, this tub is for relaxation purposes only. It does not make bathing easier, in fact, we find it very difficult to take a simple bath/shower to clean ourselves, which is the sole purpose of a tub/shower. We did not purchase this to just sit in water with jets and lights to unwind and relax. The area to shower is so ridiculously small, I cannot even take a shower anymore, there is no room, every turn I made I had the shower curtain sticking to me. I have to always take a bath, and I cannot even wash my long hair in this thing, I have to now wash my hair separately in a sink. Do not get me started on how difficult it is to clean this thing either. To sum up, I just want to warn everyone to really think long and hard about buying one of these as it is very expensive and you may be very disappointed with the results as we are. Now I am concerned of what else will go wrong and will it be included in the so-called lifetime warranty. I would like to end this on a positive note. The installation team was wonderful. They were the best part of this whole experience. They installed an extra safety bar due to my brother's disability and for that, I am grateful. Update: 1/31: Handheld showerhead broke on 1/28. Called on 1/29 and still waiting for someone to come out to fix this. Didn't even have the tub for a full 30 days before something happened. Isn't it funny how you are inundated with calls when they want you to purchase the tub, but then when something goes wrong, you have to beg for a prompt return call!?

Poor response

The company’s reply to my original post was “ We are very sorry to hear this has been your experience, Lawrence. Please reach out to our Customer Care Team at 855-225-2183 so they can help sort it out for you.”. I’ve been calling that number for over two weeks and get the run around. They say a contractor will call with 24 hours or that the person handling my warranty claim will call me but it never happens. This is a company that doesn’t live up to its warranty and sales claims.

I sent this review 2 times before this…

I sent this review 2 times before this will be the last time. I was disappointed in what we got. We both said to start off that we wanted a shower in our tub and I suppose I paid for it we didn't get it. Two weeks after it was installed we received a package with a lot of stuff in it which might have been my shower. I have no idea how to install it. Our hot water valve is on the wrong side. That is all I can think of right now but someone dropped the ball. After I paid for the shower the company does not seem to care about us.

They said the threshold to enter the tub will be 3". Mine is just under 10".

we signed a contract on November 10…

we signed a contract on November 10 install date 10 days later. They claim the salesman messed up the order but got corrected. The lady that schedules install called cooperate and said a called her a c u n t and they cancelled my contract that was going to be 21 thousand dollars

Good product

I wish the salesman would have told us if there were options for shower door. I would never have chosen to have two doors if so. Also, the salesman had talked me into not doing the shower walls all the way to the ceiling which is what I had asked for. I asked the installer though and he said it would look better to the ceiling like I had wanted and he was able to make it happen and I'm very happy he did. All in all I'm satisfied.
