Kingston Lacy (AGAIN )

Kingston Lacey (AGAIN ) I have not visited Kingston Lacy since the last time `I had a run in with rude staff there. I re visited today and hey presto another plump mature woman from the staff started on me again. When I said I'd not be renewing my membership. Her reply was, Don't then. Where on earth do you find these people? All I want to do is walk in the gardens with my dog ( On a lead obviously) without these unemployables giving me the benefit of their nonsense.

Shame on you National DIS-Trust . . .

The ONLY Company I know of where as a Senior Citizen, you are not entitled to a discount unless you have “been a previous member for THREE consecutive years” . . . what a greedy disrespectful money grabbing company. You are supposed to help-out us Pensioners aren’t you and not try to rip us off - SHAME ON YOU NATIONAL DIS-TRUST. My reply from National Trust was the standard ‘jobs-worth’ pedantic reply (shown below this statement) from Chris of National Trust who just can’t appreciate that as new Pensioners, we want to visit NT sites, spend money there and enjoy our hard earned retirements at last . . . but not wait 3 years paying full price for membership before we get the ‘normal’ Senior Citizen reductions . . . come on Chris, even English Heritage give us a membership reduction. BTW - I’m sure that you are aware Chris that in 2021-22 your Director-general Hilary McGrady, was paid a salary of £199,614 which one assumes that is why Pensioners are required to pay full price . . . 🤔

We love visiting National Trust…

We love visiting National Trust properties. BUT small moan today we visited Hardwick Hall and in cafe we wanted a meal. Advertised sausage mash and greens at £11.95. I had that but when it came out the greens were simply garden peas. All tasted nice but i think a bit of artistic licence used with the description there!!

No membership pack ever arrived

In march this year my mother signed me up for National trust membership. She was assured the pack would arrive in less than a month which was just in time for my Birthday April 3rd. Nothing has ever arrived. Both herself and I have emailed and called with nothing ever arriving or a refund being given. I’d like to understand how to escalate this for a full refund. Phone calls and emails are full of empty words so hoping maybe this will get the right persons attention.

Great staff at Fountain Abbey

I visited Fountain Abbey on 23rd September. I cycled to Fountain Abbey but unfortunately the saddle of my bike came off while riding. As a result I got big scratches and was badly shaken.. However, one of staff, Christine, at the ticket office professionally and kindly treated my injuries using her first aid kit. Christine kindly phoned a lot of taxi company to help me home, but unfortunately none of taxi offered a ride.. So Christine sugessed providing me a ride after work. (I would have been stuck in a countryside without her.) Her lovely and thoughtful gesture and support helped me calm down and made my horrible day bright. I was very impressed and thankful!

Visited Coleton Fishacre last week

Visited Coleton Fishacre last week, I have to say one of the most beautiful houses and gardens I have ever seen. Lunch was absolutely lovely and access with dogs was fabulous. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of a very officious member of staff. Just before we left we let the dogs out for a last sniff around the car park. There is a gate at the top which says 'private', obviously we didn't let the dogs in there but a woman (in a black National Trust fleece) marched over and accused us of 'letting the dogs in with the bees'. I feel a customer training course wouldn't go amiss here.........apart from that I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Ripped off as membership not needed

Looked up 3 places to visit this week online and as they would have cost over £80 for the two of us we decided to buy an annual membership. Have since found out all 3 places are free to visit on the days we plan to go as part of heritage open days which is NOT clearly advertised on their website - if I’d known this we wouldn’t have bought a membership and as there are very few NT places near us it’s a lot of money wasted in a cost of living crisis. We save hard for all holidays and cannot get a refund as it’s a charitable donation which is ridiculous when you visit the sites you are charged a set entrance fee and are not asked for a donation.
