Dont Touch
I too would give a zero rating if I could. Its a shambles. My son paid for a joint membership for my husbands 70th Birthday way back at the beginning of February. Still haven't received even the temporary tickets. Nor have we had any response to numerous emails. They take your money quick enough but then ignore you. Don't touch with a "Barge Pole". You have been warned.

Disgusting service
As with the other recent reviews, they have repeatedly taken payments from me despite asking several times to cancel via email all of which have been ignored. This has severely impacted my opinion of the National Trust, have had to cancel my direct debit and have no interest in visiting any of their locations now as ignoring people who are supporting them (despite me having no good locations near to me also!!!) is truly disgusting. Do NOT give them your bank details.

Sadly my experience is the same
Sadly my experience is the same. I’ve mislaid my card. Phoned and emailed. No joy at all. Not been able to use it for months so cancelled today.

Very poor customer service
I have been waiting for a response to an email initially sent on the 13th Feb. The lack of even an acknowledgement let alone a solution to the membership problem is at least poor and does nothing to enhance the relationship between the Trust and the membership on which it depends. The customer services management must be aware of the poor commentary on social media so why are the issues not being managed?

Going to the dogs
I would give it zero stars if that was an option. We are seeing the trivialisation and neglect of important national assets, which the NT has been entrusted to preserve in perpetuity. Instead, we find grand historic houses, which I would like to see as lived in by their owners, devalued and demeaned by inane and childish comment boards, as well as political comment which attempts to compare the morals and standards of the past to the present day. We are adult enough to make our own assessments and as for children, they should be encouraged to enter into informed debate rather than being subject to trivial, patronising and unbalanced statements. Money wasted on this could be spent on properties that are currently being neglected due to lack of funds.

The Charity Commission needs to investigate
Very sad that this once-great body appears embarrassed by its a statutory duty to look after historic houses and gardens, now preferring narrow political activism.

Managed by a load of woke lefties!
Too woke! Loosing touch with its roots to preserve the nation's precious heritage. I’m sure many families would not have donated their precious homes had they had the ability to look into the future to what The Trust has become - managed by a load of woke lefties!

corporate destruction
As a NT life member for almost 50 years I have watched with sadness the descent of the NT into corporate downfall. They have done some good work, for example in the Studley estate, but recently they all have frequently abandoned their founding principles in favour of a ‘business’ model to make more money and pay for more ‘management’. Gone are the days of individual cafes and shops stocked with local produce – think Mrs Jennings at Wallington. Now, if you’re lucky to find them open because of self inflicted staff shortages, the poor quality stock comes from a hopeless and inefficient central purchasing department. Presentations are PC and dumbed down to the lowest denominator. Those volunteers who haven’t left appear demoralised by management edicts e g to have interminable meetings re job descriptions etc. while expertise garnered over decades in gardens and building conservation have been forced out in favour of money oriented ‘managers’. HHA properties are much better managed by their owners/ trusts than those of the centrally ‘directed’ NT as are those of English Heritage/Historic Scotland As member I feel powerless to reverse the trend against the steam roller of the current ‘management’ who must surely have been appointed because of their record of failures? Of the magazines we get:- NT, NTS, Historic Scotland, HHA, JM Trust etc the NT magazine stands out as the least interesting or relevant. When I joined, our wills left significant amounts to the NT but we have changed this to organisations such as Friends of the Lakes, JM Trust etc that have (so far) not been taken over by ‘woke’ corporate (mis)management. I’m pretty sure that if Mrs Heelis were alive today she wouldn’t be entrusting much of the Lakes to the current NT ‘management’
