Do Not Sign Up For American Water Resources

American Water Resources contract is filled with gaps to make sure they only pay the least amount of coverage in the event you have to use their service. Customer service personnel are hard to deal with because they all speak broken English and are trained to tell you to read your contracts fine print. I called numerous times (No less then 10 times) and was on hold for hours during this nightmare. To start, I had 4" of sewage in my basement from a sewer line back up. I contacted AWR about the backup, but they could not get a company to come to my house for three days (come to find out they only have one company contacted in my area). AWR does not allow you to find your own service provider. A plumber finally arrived after the three days and worked on the clog for 4 hrs and they came to the conclusion that they did not have a long enough auger to get to clog. I had to call AWR back up and after another hour of waiting on the phone I informed AWR that another plumber was needed with longer auger. The second plumber came out and after about 2hrs of work this plumber determined that it was probably a bad sewer line, but they needed to confirm with a camera that he did not have on his truck. So, the next day another plumber showed up with camera and determined that it was too dirty to see??? Hmmm Dirty sewer water of course that would be my guess lol...? They decided it was a crushed sewer line. The plumbing company submitted a proposal to AWR for the crushed sewer line. I never saw the proposal or had the opportunity to negotiate with another company. The plumbing company said the cost would be $5000. AWR said my policy covered a total of $8000 but they would only pay $4000 because the other $4000 was for repairing streets and sidewalks but my fix did not go into those area. So, I agreed to pay extra the $1000 because what choice did, I have? A week later with sewage in my basement for a week the plumbing company dug up the yard with a big backhoe. They fixed my pipe but caused a lot of yard damage. After it was complete the plumbing company said they don't fix yards. I thought my coverage covered fixing the yard? That is a big No. AWR said $4000 is all I get and nothing to fix the yard. I could have negotiated with another company, got it done for cheaper and had everything fixed with sod. So, please do not waist your money on AWR and find another warranty company because it was the worst company I have ever dealt with, and customer service is non- existent.

I've paid a year and 3 months worth of…

I've paid a year and 3 months worth of payments. Needed a simple sewer line clean out. (AWR) technician diagnosed it as an indoor problem. This company(Keepe) who sub contracted the job to a local company(Reeda's) took about 3 days for (Reeda's) to show up and diagnose that it was an outside sewer line issues; they needed to renegotiate their fee.long story short, she couldn't reach (Keepe) I connected her with (AWR) no resolution, so understandably, she pulled her crew. (I send Keepe a text with the concern)waited 2 weeks and a few days,of back and forth phone calls and texts, "Be patient and wait, we're trying to get a plumber in your area." to then receive a voicemail from (AWR)" We can't find a plumber, you'll have to find one, pay out of pocket, then we'll mail you reimbursement papers. Mind you I am on a fixed income and the whole purpose of buying their insurance plans was to prevent having to pay out of pocket ($500) for a sewer clean out. " I had cancelled a policy with them days prior because they were drafting payments out too closely in some months, ( though they deny it) why did you have to send a check to me for overpayment then?) Never the less I still had 10 days left on that contract ( which this claim was filed on) I 🤔 to myself, "maybe you should reconsider so I reinstate under a new contract (extra payment taken) ... Why offer an insurance/ service when you don't have plumbers available for hire because of ya'll s bad business practices 😡 They DIDN'T fix my plumbing issue and only offered a discount. Discounts don't compensate for negligence poor service and false advertising. I asked to be refunded 1/2 of my money on all premiums made, but they said No, we cannot. All (AWR) did is take my money and left me hanging.BUYER BE WARE!

Robbers

The only reason I gave them one star was because I couldn't give the anything lower. I paid for years on several properties. Made a claim and was denied. What a rip off.

No water service for nearly 5 weeks- negligence and incompetence

I have had no water service for nearly 5 weeks. The water service line protection insurance I purchased through AW proved to be useless. There was no claims manager to deal with, without calling through the generic call center and hoping to get a return call. I will end up spending 34K out of my own pocket because I could not get the insurance to kick in. The city had to get involved before I could even get AW to offer me a solution. Still waiting for it to be implemented. The mayor is involved now. I wrote to the president of AW, explaining the entire situation. No response.
