Want ADT Back

We recently (yesterday) switched from ADT to Vector. My wife had taken a day off to be home for the installer. I work from home, but due to the nature of my work and current workload I needed to be heads-down in my office all day and could not stop to work with the installer. The problems started about 10 minutes after the installer arrived. Apparently the salesman who sold us the new system had made a mistake assessing the existing equipment and it was not compatible with Vector system they were going to install. We were told that we had two options, we could reschedule, and my wife loses a day off, or we could pay to have the compatible equipment installed. I explained that neither option was acceptable as this was their mistake, not ours, and frankly I had no problem remaining with ADT. The installer made a phone call and said everything was set and they would install the right equipment at no additional charge. Towards the end of a day the “Sales Manager” showed up. He said he was just there to make sure that we were satisfied. One sensor was missing a part and constantly sending false alerts. The installer tried to adjust it. In the meantime the “Sales Manager” left saying that he would follow-up with us later that evening. He did not. As my wife was showing me the new system. I noticed that there was only one fire detector on the main floor. None in the basement and none on the second floor. I do not know if there is any type of training or certification for someone who comes to your house and specs out a home security system, but I would expect that they would know that one fire detector per floor is the minimum requirement for adequate protection. We asked the installer about this when he returned and he said he could install them but they would cost $90 each. This more than doubled our quoted installation cost. My wife called the “Sales Manager”. At first he said we would be fine because we already had non-monitored battery operated smoke alarms on all floors. My wife told him that we didn’t need fire monitoring for when we were home we wanted it for when we were out. We weren’t trying to get over on them and even offered to split the difference and pay for one of the two smoke detectors. He agreed and said that would be $150. I guess he didn’t know that the installer had already told us they were $90 ea. When my wife called him on this, he replied that he said he would give us a 15% discount not a 50% discount. I wasn’t there, but this sounded like some salesman double talk to me. Then he proceeded to tell my wife that he couldn’t do anything for us because he already gave us a lot of free equipment. Keep in mind that the “free” equipment he gave us was because HIS salesman made a mistake. We got no benefit from this free equipment. The conversation ended with him agreeing to call back this evening to talk to me. Once again – no call. Charging us $150 for installation, then telling us if we really want it to do what it’s supposed to do, it’s going to cost $150 more, sounds A LOT like bait and switch. Especially since they had already disconnected and removed our existing system. I am looking into what it will take to get out of this contract and get my ADT equipment reinstalled.

Great Service

Never had any problems with the system. Always a quick phone call if I needed any type of help. I would recommend the company to anybody who needs security for their home.

False alarms, faulty equipment, poor customer service, lie!

I can't wait for my 3 year contract to be up. Basically, I'm paying month to month, being stuck in this ridiculous contract, with equipment that doesn't work . Was promised a discount rate, but that never happened. They called my 70 year old mother middle of the night because we had a low battery signal on one of my sensors and scared her to death. To the person that made that call... seriously, use some common sense! They told us, because of our problems they would lower our rate 25% and to look for it on our next bill. We never noted the discount, and the vector agent changed her tune. Saying we will get the discount after we sign up for another 3 years. Hahaha nice switcheroo. No thanks to the "discounted" extra 3 years! Faulty equipment is constantly waking up my newborn. They want $109 just for coming out just to look at it. Then an additional $32 every 20 minutes it takes them to figure out what's going on. No thanks! I'm not giving them any more money than I have to. I dread having to call customer service. They must train everybody to be cold and insensitive because that's how they come across. All they try to do is up sell into another 3 year contract instead of fixing the issue at hand. In a time where competition is heavy, instead of keeping customers happy by doing the right thing, they want to extend our contract and tack on additional "service" support; because they are so good at it! Family who have ADT and simplisafe get far better service and equipment than what we do. My mistake for thinking paying more would result in something better. And that was just for my home...My office is also vector, and that will be ending soon as well. Again equipment issues they can't seem (really don't care) to fix even though I have their top care service plan. bottom line, Vector doesn't protect you from thieves, they, are in fact, the crooks.

Expensive

Expensive. Wanted to add a few windows to my door scurity. Told it would cost $60 per window just to install. If you are getting my $50 per month, you would hink insallation of services would be free. Cannot wait to switch.

Nice Security Company to work with.

After having been an ADT customer for some 15 years, I changed to Vector based on an acquaintances recommendation. Everyone at Vector is friendly and efficient and I have had no issues with the installation or monitoring service.
