I would NOT recommend this company to anybody. To start amazingly efficient, received a 'like for like' replacement the day after our accident. This is where the trouble starts... They do not advise you that the insurer will 'probably not want to pay this' but they do know this as it is a common occurrence. We bought a new car and received it in less than a week, the hire car was returned to Spectra. The day after we received a letter from the 3rd party insurer in which it states 'I will not pay any car hire charges' The damaged car was written off, and the insurer paid the full amount to them. Now Spectra say the insurer doesn't want to pay the full hire charges, so I have to prove financial details etc. (not going to happen for something not my fault), so because of this they are withholding the payment for the car..... THEY dispute the car hire charges and withhold ALL the money paid to them, I don't think so. I have contacted the 3rd party insurer and they say this is not their practice, they will be contacting Spectra Drive (good luck with that one). I will probably have to resort to contacting a solicitor with regards to recovering my money from them 3 weeks ago plus interest accrued. I will also be contacting the relevant ombudsmen, I will be also filling in an Online Dispute Resolution form to raise complaints about Spectra, regarding misleading tactics to gain business. If you want real honest upfront car hire go somewhere else. This is still an 'actual' ongoing matter with Spectra right now. Spectra now have £6922 from the 3rd party insurer for me. I wonder it their reply to this will be as in other poor reviews..... 'We are sorry, we can't find your file' I'll keep you updated. Well Spectra replied as you can see... But so did the 3rd party insurance company. Dear Mrs Burrell I refer to the above dated incident. I have received a request asking to contact you regarding a complaint that you wish to make? I have previously reviewed this claim as I understand that your payment was being withheld by Spectra Drive due to a payment dispute we had? I called Sprectra Drive on 23rd June to query what this dispute was, because as far as we are concerned there is none and we are simply waiting on a payment pack for the hire vehicle that you had. I spoke to Tom at Spectra Drive who confirmed that they were waiting on your bank details in order to release payment to you? I asked *** to call you so that you could discuss this as there appeared to be some confusion. Before receiving this email, we emailed Spectra to tell them to keep the difference between what the insurance paid and what they charge (logical right?) nope they've overcharged for 2 days rent even though it was requested they collect the car, easy money for nothing.
