Visited buscot village and parked car…

Visited buscot village and parked car in the national trust car park. Our car was stuck in the gravel for hours and had to get a towing company to get it out, it car was damaged due to this. National trust says they only compensate in cases where there is an injury or maybe death which means they wanted us to be hurt. Terrible response, never expected this from them. I am out of pocket due to their incompetence and no fault of mine. I had my kids with me and nothing to eat. Our day was ruined thanks to national trust.

Gardens beautiful. NT poor

Gardens themselves absolutely beautiful (this is the wonderful nature of the area, Autumn colours gorgeous). Customer service at reception very helpful and slightly patronising - cafe selection poor, no fresh gluten free option (and hadn't been all day), so many options if you are vegan, but none of us are :-( - national trust sadly going significantly downhill.

Visited the amazing Wallington hall on…

Visited the amazing Wallington hall on 2/11/24 just to walk the grounds. I cannot praise highly enough your staff who arrange a membership for our family. Fiona is a credit to you as are all the staff who helped that day. They even arranged a mobility scooter so I was able to enjoy more of the grounds with my Family usually I have to go sit and wait. Providing accessibility for disabled people is essential and Wallington hall has facilitated this so it is very much appreciated. So glad we are members I will be returning regularly.

I would give zero stars if I could!

I would give zero stars if I could! Avoid at all costs!! I have purchased a blanket from their online shop and returned it back in few days, they received it the next day It has been 2 weeks, they are not refunding my money and keep emailing me the same response saying they have forwarded my enquiry to the relevant department. I will complain about them anywhere and everywhere, worst customer service ever!

Miss the beautiful tea rooms…

Love visiting National Trust properties as often as I can. Very sad to see many of the gorgeous tea rooms have disappeared since Covid, which was a real draw for me to bring friends (many non members) to my local properties, during the summer months!! Not so much sadly!! Still love to see the beautiful gardens and houses and the staff/volunteers are fantastic!! Please don’t get rid of the any more tea rooms!! In fact, please reinstate them!! And certainly keep the lovely gift shops! Many thanks for listening!!

Day ruined

Myself and my wife planned to visit Stourhead on Sunday 27th October. We drove 74 miles, the final mile was stationary traffic due to both directions converging at the entrance. We were 2 cars from entering when 2 members of staff came out with closed signs. There was no explanation of why just frantic arm waving to move us along. I realise the site had reached capacity, that is not why I feel annoyed, it's the fact nothing was done earlier. It would have made far more sense to anticipate the problem and stopped traffic a long time before a huge queue had formed. I understand most are volunteers, maybe management should improve training to anticipate these problems. It ruined our trip and wasted 160 miles of petrol.

Ickworth House - take a Picnic and Thermos

We visited Ickworth House and spent the day queuing. Half an hour in the queue to drive through the gate (it's always bad - why not put more than one person on the gate?), an hour in a not particularly long but very slow-moving queue to order a snack, and then over half an hour for it to arrive (which it did only after we complained). Demoralised staff were apologetic, but could only say "it's not us, it's the management" and "we hope you complain - it would do us all a favour"

Not everyone wants to be vegan or vegetarian.

We have been NT members for a long time and visited many properties. One of the enjoyable aspects of the day used to be a nice tasty lunch. Sadly now the National Trust only seem to cater for vegetarians and vegans….long gone are the tasty cottage pies, apple crumbles, stews and many other enjoyable lunch dishes. They seem to want to indoctrinate everyone with their ‘meat is the devil’ views. I am gluten free and the only cakes on offer were ‘wrapped bought-in’ offerings which could easily have been used for a cricket ball! History of these houses reveals meat in their daily diets. Oh how we miss the NT cafe and tasty lunches…it made such an enjoyable day out. NT has now been taken over by woke, PC, and left wing influencers. Not a change for the better.
