Sheffield park

Sheffield park Not a dog friendly place anymore. I leave a very honest review to all places I visit with my dog. I’m not happy with all new sudden rules. What happened? New manager? Restrictions? Had so much pressure with my dog in a pet stroller! Not coming back again. Cancelled my membership. Wanted to get a piece of cake, food but I couldn’t. Have to leave my dog outside? Seriously? She was sitting in a pram,no floor touching and still has been told we can’t buy a cake because dogs are not welcome. So make an outside food and cake sale if dogs are not welcomed anymore (they use to be before and many many years) We are members of a National Trust last at least 3years. Went to this place at least 5 times. Went few times to the cafe (just to get a cake and Coffe) not sitting inside. If you are changing rules pls make a clear information at any time. My dog used a long lead all the time while entering this place many times. Last spring we were told not to use a long lead in the garden. Seriously? So put all children on the lead then. 😡 They are destroying all little flowers with walking around and breaking some trees sticks. Leaving plenty of rubbish around and never respect others quite time . Don’t think I’m not a mother. I’m mum of two teenagers and absolutely not happy with the attitude and the way all been told to me and my dog today. I will leave this information to all my friends. Dogs are not welcome at this place anymore. They don’t like dogs anymore as before. #sheffieldparkgardens #nationaltrust #nationaltrustmember Another crazy rule- Saturday mornings are dog free? Oh, can I have Sunday mornings child free and we can enjoy our quiet time without screaming and mooning. Do not buy membership if you are looking at dog friendly places .

Why does the NT want to know my sexual orientation?

Why does the NT need to know sexual orientation in a survey following a visit to one of their properties. Being a white heterosexual male Christian feel like being a criminal these days? 🥵

I've been a member of the National…

I've been a member of the National Trust for over ten years and although enjoy visiting NT sites but am considering cancelling my membership because of their attitude towards somebody wanting to fly a drone, their policies don't overule what is legal, threatening to illegally confiscate somebodies drone, vile, entitled attitude. Their increasing wokeness is also grating. Its no wonder NT membership is plummeting.

Enjoyable visit to Moseley Old Hall

Visited Moseley Old Hall, Wolverhampton. Took the one-hour guided tour. Was not disappointed. Kevin, the tour guide, was exceptionally informative and had a great repartee with all. Even after the tour had finished, he offered more information. What a great advert for the National Trust. All staff, including reception and cafe were amenable. Garden well laid out. Ample parking, even for a motorhome - yes, the approach is down a narrow lane, but Google Earth showed that! We have been to many NT properties and always enjoyed the experiences.

Inflexible and will cancel membership

Usually I have enjoyed national trust but after today’s experience I will not be renewing. I looked in the national trust book that comes with the membership and thought scotney castle looked good. I drove for 1 hour to be told you have to book in advance, I said I couldn’t see that in the book and the lady was quite patronising and said it’s in bright yellow on the website, great but not obvious in the book. Complete waste of time, I won’t be renewing my membership as it’s seems it’s totally inflexible no longer value for money. Shame they have to be so pathetic, what’s wrong with the old system?

An afternoon out at Dunham Massey, rubbish food

An afternoon out at Dunham Massey The house and gardens are excellent, it is an interesting place and has memories for me as I used to visit way before the trust took over. On the whole it has been a good thing. One think I have always liked about the trust is decent food however here I was disappointed. We chose the stables restaurant as opposed to the visitor centre cafe. We thought restaurant meant a better food experience. Sadly no, it was very poor. Only light lunches at the best. I chose a ham and cheese toastie from the very limited menu, only to be told they were out, ok I will have a cheese one, my wife chose the bean chilli. Our drinks arrived promptly and then my wife’s small bowl of chilli, then ….. after 15 mins my cheese toastie arrived only it had morphed in their system to a cheese and tomato toastie. I was underwhelmed and sent it back and asked why it had not come with my wife’s food, oh it’s made in a different part of the kitchen to the hot food : total failure to understand. Not a restaurant in any sense. The cafe whilst not having great food at least lived up to its name.

A volunteer ruined my day

An elderly man was extremely rude to me today at Buckland Abbey. I was sitting quietly in the Great Hall at 16.10 when he demanded I leave at once. When I reminded him the Abbey was open to 16.30 he acted like a Plymouth pub bouncer, saying "Haven't you a home to go to", and that the volunteers had no obligation to keep the site open and that Iwas a disreputable character he didn't trust. This is by far the worse treatment I've ever had at a NT property and was completely unacceptable. I was fobbed of when I asked to see the duty manager.

Annual Membership

Watch out when applying for annual membership. The promised 15 GBP gift voucher never arrives. I have reminded National Trust three times about this and almost 4 months later have received nothing!

Pure Greed

My Son ran in the Great North run today raising money for charity, His Wife with their six month old baby was unable to find any available car parking spaces and had to use the National Trust’s Souter lighthouse car park. Ten pounds charged for the privilege. If your going to charge outrageous fees for car parking on a Sunday, why not donate all the parking fees raised on that day to to the Great North run’s various charity’s. Footnote. In response to the reply below and the overwhelming negative reviews of the National Trust, it’s quite clear this organisation will keep the extortionate fees charged for car parking for themselves and therefore not donate to the worthwhile causes. Would be interesting to know how many participants in the Great North run actually raised money just for the National Trust’s Charity.

Hard to merge separate memberships

Enjoy the membership but my husband and I have been paying for separate accounts for many years now and every time I phone up there is a different reason why our accounts can't be merged to a joint membership. Why is it not easy.. I can't do it on my online login. I can't do it over email. Every time I phone up there is a different reason why they can't do it. Just means that we are paying more for two separate memberships
