exceptionally attentive and very professional

I was referred to the Moorfields Eye Hospital by a friend who just had a very serious eye problem. I researched the surgeons working at the hospital on the internet and I found Mr Maurino to be a world renowned implantable contact lens surgeon. I have found him and his team to be exceptionally attentive and very professional with all exams and visits, and very efficient in planning appointments and surgery dates. I am very pleased with the operations, and the aftercare provided by Mr Maurino and his team in London.

A brilliant professional surgeon, absolutly amazing service

I met with Mr Maurino back in the summer to get eye surgery. He diagnosed a number of small issues with my eye health. He put me on a plan to get my eye to optimal health and set regular appointments for me to come back. He did not charge me any more for these consultations. Every time I went back I was impressed with the courteous, polite and knowledgeable staff as well as Mr Maurino professionalism. Eventually my eyes were in a good enough shape to operate and my laser eye surgery was a success. Mr Maurino is absolutely top notch and I couldn't recommend him or Moorfield eye hospital more.

Visual Epiphany

I had significant long sight, old age long sight and astigmatism in both eyes as well as cataracts that significantly impaired my vision in the last 5years that no spectacles could correct and had worn spectacles with pebble lenses for all of my life. To make matters worse my eyes (small and deep set) put me at risk of vision loss due to a form of glaucoma. All the eye surgeons I had talked to shuddered at the thought of doing cataract surgery in my eyes (Google cataract surgery small eyes and "small eyes big problems" comes back which is hardly encouraging). Vincenzo Maurino (VM) has published extensively on cataract surgery in small eyes, astigmatism correction in cataract surgery but has also published in the medical literature on multifocal intraocular lens replacement which offers the chance of near, computer and far vision ie normal vision! If you get spectacles your optician can adjust the prescription by trial and error. With intraocular lens replacement the surgeon has one chance to get it right and in the case of astigmatism correction to insert the lens replacement with great precision. To cut a long story short, 3 hours after surgical correction on my left weaker squinty eye I stopped wearing glasses altogether as my near, computer and distance vision was so good in my left eye. Less than 24 hours after this first surgery I drove at night. There are some phenomena associated with multifocal lenses and night driving but from my perspective they are trivial and more than compensated by the fact that I can now see so well in dark conditions. The same story 1 week later on my "good" right eye. I now have better than 6/6 (normal) vision on the black and white reading chart in both eyes but that really does not do justice to the quality of vision that I have in both eyes with what I perceive as seamless vision between near and far, and for the first time in my life peripheral vision. Not everyone may be so lucky but there is published literature on this particular multifocal lenses that Mr Maurino uses with a very high >>95% satisfaction. I would now like to make a comment on "Team" Maurino,(TM) from Sue and Ana that dealt with all my hypochondriacal questions, to all the support team that measured my eyes and to the anaesthetists and surgical staff that ensured I had this spectacular result. What I found particularly impressive was that most of the people that work in TM also work in the NHS (as I do). The overwhelming impression that I had was that they felt privileged to work with VM (why else would you be in operating theatre at 8pm on a Friday night) because of the spectacular results that he achieves and that clearly extends beyond cataract surgery. In this regard, the widespread positive reviews from his patients in the waiting room support that view as do the very positive reviews on Trust Pilot. This review is too longwinded but it is also written for prospective patients of VM who might have eyes similar to mine who have been warned off complicated multifocal toric lenses for cataract surgery. What VM cannot tell you is it what it is really like to get these lenses as he has not had them inserted into his own eyes. My experience is the result can be exceptionally good and that in my view if anyone can fix your eyes VM can. I am very glad I saw him and accepted his advice as the results have been truly life changing. Finally, but not least, in addition to the brilliance of VM as a surgeon I would also like to comment on his professionalism and the fact that when there was an imagined small hiccup he called me at night at home to reassure me. I am truly grateful to VM and team Maurino for giving me a quality of vision at 61 that I could not have imagined. Vision is a huge part of quality of life in everything that we do and my quality of life has improved beyond anything that I could have hoped for or had expected. Thank you very much.

LASIK - professional and friendly

I had successful (with perhaps a minor adjustment on one eye required) LASIK with Vincenzo at the end of November. From booking the initial consultation through to aftercare, Vincenzo and his team have been a pleasure! Thorough, professional and caring - I've received brilliant pre, during and post operative care. Thank you Vincenzo! :-)

Replacement lens for cataract and myopia…

I chose to be treated by Mr Maurino at MoorfieldsEye Hospital after reading reviews and feeling confident that I would get first class advice and treatment. At my first appointment I had a thorough eye examination and after discussion with Mr Maurino I opted to have the lens in my left eye replaced with a monofocal IOL . Everything was explained carefully and the operation went smoothly. My eye was not painful afterwards and at my post op appointment the sight in my left eye was better than expected. I am looking forward to having my new glasses in mid January and better vision than I have had for a long time.I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Maurino and his team. Sue Forster

I had cataracts removed from both eyes.

I had cataracts removed from both eyes and trifocal lenses fitted. I was very apprehensive when I went in for my first operation but Mr. Maurino & his team were able to put me at ease very quickly. During the operations, Mr. Marino explained what was he was going to do every step of the way and the nursing staff explained in great detail what after care was required. I now have perfect vision in both eyes. I cannot praise Mr. Maurino enough. He is a true professional and I am happy to recommend his services.

Top Class Surgeon

My first experience of Mr Maurino and his team was in December 2015 when I needed to get the cataract in my left eye attended. I did a lot of research at that time to try and find the best surgeon to carry out the procedure. There were lots of surgeons available in London however after careful consideration I decided to go with Mr Maurino. My experience was very positive with Mr Maurino and his team as the surgery went off perfectly and I was extremely happy with the outcome. Therefore when the time came to do my left eye for cataract, I had absolutely no hesitation in going straight back to him. I opted for femtosecond laser in both instances which Mr Maurino himself carried out. It has now been almost 4 weeks since the surgery and again the outcome has been excellent. I can say Mr Maurino is a highly experienced surgeon and would definitely recommend anyone who needs to get cataracts done to see him. He is very calm and confident in his approach, will explain everything in detail and answer any questions. Further the service provided by the practice manager is also excellent and professional – she was always very prompt in getting back with any information I requested with clarity. Thank you Mr Maurino and your team for a super outcome, I could not ask for anything more. Wish you a Happy Christmas!
