I have now had successful laser eye …

I have now had successful laser eye surgery treatment by Mr.Maurino and I received the up-most care and diligence by him and his team. They made sure my pre and post operative care, and the surgery itself, went as smoothly as possible.

Cataract and corneal transplant surgery.

The sight in both my eyes was very poor, partly owing to cataracts, but mainly because the lowest layer of my corneas was dying (Fuch's dystrophy). I inherited the latter from my mother who had many problems with corneal transplants in the 1980's - so I was extremely apprehensive about any kind of surgery. Mr Maurino explained the whole modern procedure to me and was very ready to answer my questions - both at the time and those that occurred to me later. I knew beforehand exactly what would happen from the moment I went into the hospital. The operation on my right eye was in two stages - cataract first and corneal transplant three weeks later - but I understand that now he tends to do one combined operation. The new corneal layer is held in place by a bubble of gas which is absorbed over a week. The new clarity in the sight of my right eye seems nothing short of a miracle. There was obviously a long and complicated regime of eye drops and hospital visits following the operation but throughout Mr Maurino and his excellent, friendly team were always on hand to give detailed advice by phone since I live away from London. I'm now contemplating whether I need to have my left eye operated on since the sight in my right eye is so good that I can do everything I want to. My praise for Mr Maurino and his team cannot be higher.

Excellent eye surgeon

Mr Maurino replaced the lenses in both of my eyes and now for the first time in my life I am learning to drive. At my first consutlation he was honest and straightforward and reassuringly blunt about what he did not know as well as what he did. He and the team in surgery were caring but most importantly technically excellent and matter of fact. For me the surgery has been life changing. I would recommend Mr Maurino to anyone with eyesight problems.

Lasik experience

Really positive experience and outcome and Mr Maurino was really reassuring and supportive throughout. I didn’t fully anticipate how gritty eyes would feel but would highly recommend Mr Maurino to anyone who is thinking of having lasik. I have better than 20/20 vision and am so pleased that had the surgery. Amazing surgeon.

First rate professionalism

Surgery is never a pleasurable experience for anyone, but the professionalism of Mr Maurino as well as his PA and the other main optometrist who dealt with me was first rate. I have a complex genetic eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, or RP, and chose to go private on the recommendation of the genetics department at Moorfields. Despite being in my 30s, I needed cataract surgery on both eyes to remove glare that had become too obtrusive. My general health was good, although as well as a prescription of around -5.0 in both eyes, vision had deteriorated substantially in the right and to a lesser degree in the left eye. This context is relevant as this was far from a straight-forward cataracts operation, and will be relevant for anyone who suffers from RP. Mr Maurino was very clear on the upsides and downsides of surgery and although it was frustrating to not have a clear outcome set out for you, this is simply a fact of any surgery and a point the clinic were at pains to make clear. The risks were spelt out clearly as being minimal and it was good to be able to have an honest conversation about the likely benefits post-surgery. The surgery was undertaken around four weeks apart and went smoothly and I have recovered well. Mr Maurino is widely regarded as one of the top cataract surgeons anywhere and this confidence made what was a very difficult and immensely stressful procedure and indeed period, more comfortable.

I would highly recommend Mr Maurino

I would highly recommend Mr Maurino. He did my cataract surgery in both eyes and I am now enjoying life without the need of any glasses. You probably won't find a better qualified eye surgeon, we did lots of research beforehand. So pleased I recommended him to my daughter and she now had laser eye surgery done by him as well and she 's well pleased with her outcome.

Mr. Vincenzo Maurino Took Me From Near-Blindness To Perfect Vision

Mr. Maurino last week replaced the lens in my right eye… and then yesterday evening (Friday evening), a week later, replaced the lens in my left eye. I am an active 72-year-old woman in great physical condition, apart from my failing eyesight. Prior to lens replacement surgery with Mr. Maurino, I was nearly blind in both eyes due to very advanced cataracts. Seeing through my eyes was like trying to look out a window with the shades pulled down. That was because the lenses were so badly clouded-over due to advanced cataracts. I and my husband selected Mr. Maurino to perform the surgeries because of Mr. Maurino’s extremely high-level expertise in this field. He is the director of the cataract surgery department at the renowned Moorfields Private Eye Hospital in central London. He is the author of dozens of peer-reviewed treatises which deal with the most advanced aspects of cataracts and lens replacement surgery. He teaches advanced aspects to other cataract surgeons. Before continuing with this review, I must point out to everyone reading this that no one asked me to write any review at all. I am doing this because I want to help others who have lost their vision like myself. If I am able to influence even one single person who is going blind to place their trust (and their very vision itself) in the hands of Mr. Maurino, then they too may be restored to perfect vision as I was. The lens which Mr. Maurino used in both my eyes is the Zeiss trifocal lens. This lens represents the very highest technology that currently exists in the field of trifocal lenses available anywhere in the world. Zeiss are a world-renowned high-precision manufacturer of top quality lenses. Their headquarters and manufacturing plant are based in Germany. The surgery itself was relatively painless. There was only a mild level of discomfort. Mr. Maurino was kind and compassionate during the surgeries and provided clear instructions for me to follow during each surgery in terms of what he wanted me to look at and how to best assist him in keeping perfectly still for him. I didn’t even need sedation because that is the level of his skill. Here is the most amazing bit… I expected to be able to see out of my eye, after surgery, in about two or three days, but that is not what happened. What did happen was that I was able to see IMMEDIATELY! As I walked out the main entrance of Moorfields Eye Hospital after the first surgery, for the first time in many years (with just one eye done and the other nearly blind) I was able to look across the street and see and read store signs and restaurant signs that for years had only been just a blur for me. A week ago, Mr. Maurino performed lens replacement surgery on my right eye. Yesterday evening, Mr. Maurino performed surgery on my other eye… my left eye. As I walked out of Moorfields Hospital with Zeiss Trifocal lenses in both eyes now after surgery, I had been restored to a new level of vision which I had never before experienced in my life. This morning, only 12 hours after surgery had been performed yesterday evening, I had perfect vision. I could see things which I could never see before, even when wearing my contact lenses and glasses. My vision had been terrible all my life. I needed to wear glasses since the age of six. After yesterday evening, on the way home from surgery in the dark of night, I could clearly see details in the far distance. I could see details across the yard and across the street and across the room (mid-distance details). Plus, I could read without glasses. My husband has always had eagle-eye vision which I could only dream of having myself because my vision has always been so bad. Now, I can see almost everything that he can see. I know this because my husband put me through a series of vision tests this morning that took him 2 hours to perform. He asked me to provide details about objects and to identify many dozens of difficult-to-see objects that are located approximately 2 to 3 miles away across a bay and on ridge tops, looking from the fourth storey of our home. This went on for half an hour. He said I passed with a score in the high nineties. My husband had me identify minute details about dozens of objects that are located across the street and blocks away which we could see from the upper storeys of our home. This went on for about another half hour. He said I passed with a score in the high nineties. My husband produced many images on our large-screen TV. These were images which he intentionally chose because they contained objects with very muted colours and poor contrast to their background. Only a person with outstanding vision would be able to make them out. This went on for about an hour as he asked me questions about what appeared on the screen, in minute detail. Again, he said I passed with a score in the high nineties. Prior to my eye surgeries I couldn’t see practically anything on the TV… I would mostly listen to the actors talking when we watched movies together and would ask my husband what was showing on the screen. Next, my husband tested my night vision by taking me into a darkened room. Before Mr. Maurino’s surgeries, I was able to see almost nothing in a darkened room. My ‘night’ vision was near zero. Today in that darkened room, I was able to make out most of the objects in near darkness. My husband confirmed that my description of objects in the darkness was accurate. Finally, my husband had me read fine print on the side of vitamin bottles. You know how hard that print is to read. I was able to read it. With my long-distance vision, my mid-distance vision, my near-distance vision, and my reading vision now restored to near-perfect level, I and my husband knew that I had gone from nearly blind to having excellent vision after just two surgeries spaced one week apart. This review would not be complete without attributing this VISION MIRACLE to the skill and expertise which Mr. Maurino possesses… his gift. I feel obligated to point out that Mr. Maurino is a highly-intelligent individual… much more intelligent than highly-intelligent individuals you may run across in your lifetime. My husband is a trial lawyer with a win-rate of over 90% of his trials, over 500 trials in total, which will give you some idea about who was assessing Mr. Maurino. He analysed Mr. Maurino very carefully and scrutinised his background and training very closely, paying strict attention to how Mr. Maurino conducted himself and how he responded to technical questions. His conclusion was that Mr. Maurino is one of the more intelligent individuals he has run across in his lifetime. My husband as well as myself are in awe of his expertise in the field of cataract surgery. We both believe that God acts through Mr. Maurino’s hands which are truly blessed from above… to help us struggling humans down here who are going blind! There’s just no other way to explain it. If this review sounds extreme, it’s because the miracle of my eyesight being restored from near-blind to perfect vision is, in fact, a MIRACLE. If this review heaps praise on Mr. Maurino, it is because he deserves it and because I and my husband will be eternally grateful to him for this gift of sight which God has given us through Mr. Maurino’s hands. Needless to say, we believe that Mr. Maurino is not only the best cataract surgeon in England… he may be one of the best in all of Europe. This is my story and my experience with Mr. Maurino, a miracle worker who deserves the highest praise and who richly deserves it. May he be richly and eternally blessed for the good which he brings to mankind. Sincerely, C. Smith November 2018 / ONE YEAR UPDATE: It has now been one year since the skilful hands of eye-genius Vincenzo Maurino implanted the Zeiss Trifocal Lens in each of my eyes. One year on, I continue to have perfect clear vision, better by far than I had at any time in my life prior to the surgeries. There are no side effects, no halos, no floaters. Just perfect vision. In other words, a complete and total success. Thank you again, Vincenzo Maurino, for the priceless gift of sight which you bestowed upon me and my husband. November 2019 / TWO YEAR UPDATE: Two years after Vincenzo Maurino skillfully replaced my badly cataract deteriorated lenses in both eyes, I continue to have perfect clear vision, better by far than I had at any time in my life prior to the surgeries. There are no side effects, no halos, no floaters. Just perfect vision. In other words, a complete and total success. Thank you again, Vincenzo Maurino, for the priceless gift of sight which you bestowed upon me and my husband.

Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. I had -5.00 myopia, astigmatism and cataracts in both eyes and after researching the options decided to go with the best surgeon and facilities I could find - Vincenzo Maurino at Moorfields. I looked at multifocal IOL lenses but decided to keep things simple and go for monofocal IOLs set for reading without glasses. This meant I could then use a greatly-reduced -2.00 glasses or contact lens prescription for the best possible distance vision following surgery. I also chose the femtosecond laser option for the most accurate capsulotomy possible, with the added bonus that the laser can also reduce astigmatism by making a tiny arc at the edge of the cornea. The results were amazing. Mr Maurino had calculated the IOL power perfectly to give me great vision without glasses for both reading and using a computer screen, the femtosecond laser had reduced my astigmatism by nearly 1D in both eyes, and the Zeiss CT Lucia IOL we chose has such great optics that my distance vision was 6/5 (better than 20/20) with my new distance glasses (I just look under the lens to read!) After 6 months I noticed the onset of PCO in one eye, which is very common after cataract surgery particularly in younger patients. The other eye also became affected, so I had a very routine and quick YAG laser treatment carried out by Mr Maurino, which gave instant results and has given me even better vision than after the cataract surgery. You will be in very capable hands with Vincenzo Maurino, he is extremely competent and professional and you could not find a better eye surgeon.
