This is the second coop I've purchaesd from this company. They do have excellent customer service - someone answers when you call, for a start. I ordered coop by phone, but a few days later, I decided that I wanted the feeder after all. I called back and they added it to the order. When the coop arrived, it was geniusly packed with great instructions, a well organized kit full of hardware. It did take two people - as they say it will - about 5-6 hours to put it together. They had also included two of the panels which are removable. I didn't know I needed these, but I did. Shortly after putting the new coop together, we had a prolonged freeze here in New Orleans. The panels did a lot to help keep my hens warm. I love the coop. The one that I bought from them 8 years ago was the original coop. This time, I got the standing room coop. It has made my life much easier!
I love my chicken coop!
I love my chicken coop! Built so well, and it is cute, too!
The Build Was Long, But The Coop Will Last!
The Build: It took more time for assembly than four hours. I think it totaled eight hours spread over a couple of weeks. The instructions were clear, but the crew was less than careful in the reading of them. So, there was some deconstruction and adjusting to do. The Final Result: A great little coop. The quality of the design and the logic of the parts make it a great investment.
Great quality chicken coop (backyard
Great quality chicken coop (backyard, roost over root model). Not difficult to build, even to get all edges flush, as if it were to come assembled. Also, great service. When I realized that I had forgotten to order an optional addition, I ordered it later and they waived the shipping for it. They were also responsive to specific assembly questions, which I appreciated.
Great coop
Great coop - good materials, superb instructions for assembling. Not so sure about the watering station, if the birds which are used to going to a ground watering station can figure out how to look up. Still waiting to see.
City Slickers get Chickens
We wanted to share the experience of raising chickens with our two young children and do so in an urban setting (first time for the whole family). We wanted a well constructed chicken coup that would possibly stand for many years in coastal southern California and one that looks good in our child friendly back yard. I would say Roost and Roots delivered. Their Round-Top Walk-In coup went together fast and I only needed brief help in relocating the main frame after asembling it on a mostly level concrete patio. I am competent at using battery powered hand tools (I only used an impact driver, ocassional drill for pilot holes, some clamps, and a level) and assembled it with ease. However, the assembly instructions could be enhanced by better pointing out the particular positions each panel should be in, when assembling them into the larger structure. The proper orientation of each panel gets confusing even though the diagrams are designed well and multi-dimentionally. Some panels can be installed in what seems to be the correct position, according to the diagram, but find out at a later stage that some predrilled holes are on the wrong end. I had to remove and flip various panels to correct. Also not all panels or wooden coup components were labeled, which would slow down the assembly process some, as I sorted through them. One could ignore the predrilled holes and leave them exposed but this could make the wood vulnerable to premature insect or water damage. But overall, with some prerequisite skill with assembling wooden structures, it went very smooth. I added on the waterer and feeder which are simplistically designed (less potential points of failure) and seem very efficent to me, but I have yet to use them. The price of the coup, even after the apparent 40 something percent off sale price, seemed high at first, but knowing the costs of wood currently, and the quality behind the handmade construction, which would have taken me much much longer to design and build, is well worth the price in my opinion. The coup was sent from Texas to California via UPS freight. It was delayed by almost 2 weeks. Glad I didnt have birds already. But it was delayed due to an unprecedented late winter storm...very understandable. However UPS package tracking showed that the product had arrived locally and a delivery date was coordinated with the reciever (me). This was totally unture. During the process they never coordinated a delivery with me. Okay fine. I called Roost and Roots during my delivery confusion and spoke to a kind employee who said they would investigate and respond to me, but they never followed up. I was a little disappointed but not worthy of a lower customer rating. I ended up with lots of transfering and waiting while trying to get my problem resolved directly with the shipping company. We think the assembled coup looks great and the kids want to live in it. Chickens coming soon! Thanks R&R
We love our walk-in Chicken Coop
We love our walk-in Chicken Coop! Everything came as described. It was fairly easy to construct. On our site we we’re having to do some leveling, otherwise it would have been a breeze. We highly recommend Roost&Root if you’re shopping for one.

I was so impressed with their customer service. I had waited 5 months for a chicken coop from WS that they had to keep delaying and then I finally canceled it and bought a similarly priced one from Roost&Root that turned out to be better. The best part was that it arrived in 2-3 weeks. My hens have really taken to it and I love that I can stand in it and store supplies in there. Great product and great service.
Great coop
Great coop. It was a full 2 day assembly, but really doable and very nice product.
