I rarely write reviews, but this experience warrants one so here it is (it’s long): In my view, there are three types of travelers: the adventurous, the pampered and the somewhere-in-between. My family falls in the last category. We usually plan our trips, stay in 3 or 4-star accommodations (local flair preferred), rent a car/jeep if needed and fit in a few local tours here and there. However, we could not afford to do this in Peru because of the many unknowns (e.g., earthquakes, airport closures, strikes, etc) and the language barrier (in case something does go wrong). Peru is one of those countries where you could really use someone local to take you to the gems and have your back when things go awry. Inca Expert, in our case, Debbie our travel advisor and her Ops team, was that local someone. From the planning stage, Debbie was very hands-on, resourceful and responsive. But I give her the most points for her honesty. When the recent riots made our final decision difficult, I asked for a phone call. When we spoke, she didn’t promise me that things would be perfect, but she did assuage my fears by sharing with me examples of her other clients—of how they immediately came up with a plan B or C and were taken care of when things did go wrong. We took the leap of faith and were not disappointed. In short, Peru is a wonder and so much more than Machu Picchu, and Inca Expert played a crucial role in allowing us to arrive at that conclusion. While there, we experienced one major mishap: an unannounced airport closure in Puno. That meant we had to choose either plan B) to replace Puno with a different destination or plan C) to get there by car (6-7 hours). We chose the latter, and Debbie worked with her team to reserve a minivan, rearrange hotels and change the return airport to Arequipa. I also had to work that day, and due to the hotel change, I needed a new meeting room—which she also arranged in the new hotel. The additional ground transportation had a price tag, but she promised to work on the refund for our flights to Puno. And lo and behold 4 months after the trip, a refund was posted on my credit card. There were other minor mishaps, too. My daughter suffered much more than expected from the high altitude, and Debbie and her team managed to adjust our private tour times so that she could get more rest. During Debbie’s off-hours, there was a 24-hour hotline for help. We didn’t think we would need to use that number, but we did. The peace of mind is priceless. Most of our guides were friendly and had a great, unbiased perspective of history to weave the story of the individual locations into a larger historical Peruvian context—we loved some of them more than others and would like to give a shoutout to Angel, our guide from Puerto Maldonado. He gets the prize for the best Amazon guide in history. The story is the same for the drivers—some were better than others. But overall, we felt that they all either met or exceeded our expectations. On our final day in Lima, the guide took us to the Larco museum. On the lower floor was the most beautiful restaurant that we went to in all of Peru that overlooked the garden, and Inca Expert took care of the bill. It was certainly a surprise and a nice touch to end the day as well as the trip before heading out to the airport. In sum, the services will cost you an arm and a leg, but they are worth it. They know what they are doing. If your budget is tight I would recommend looking into their sister site. I fell in love with Peru and hope to be back. Our guides were so knowledgeable as well as thoughtful. Huber carried my camelback for me when we toured the ruins at Sacred Valley and Manuel found us a dry place to wait for our bus while he waited in the bus cue for us. Our hotels and meals were amazing! We were allowed to customize our trip ahead of departure as well as during our tour.

We recently completed our "once in a lifetime" trip to Peru to visit some of the more famous Inca ruins. We were fortunate to discover and work with Inca Expert Travel to help us plan and setup the trip. From the first interaction with our travel expert to the final transfer for our departure flight everything went flawlessly. Our travel expert helped us customize our itinerary to fit our time frame and see what we ranked as the must see places for our trip. The guides and drivers added so much to our experience. The drivers because they were always on time for pickups, friendly and we felt completely safe in their hands and the guides because they were friendly, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. They added so much to our experience beyond "showing us the sites". Having personal guides who "read the room" and customize the experience is well worth the extra cost over group tours. I strongly recommend Inca Expert Travel and hope to use them again in the future to plan another trip.

Peru has been a destination on our bucket list since we were very young. My boyfriend and I worked with Carli and Sylvia of Inca Expert to create a jam-packed two week itinerary including cultural activities, hiking, bird watching, and food tours. They were very patient with us through multiple changes and assisted us when an airport closed at the last minute before traveling. We had stellar communication throughout our trip. Each guide and driver were prompt, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable and flexible with two photographers that loved taking photos of everything! We were very impressed with the quality of the guides and the tours, which greatly expanded our knowledge and enjoyment of each site we visited. One of our guides even got us into a local wedding on the island of Taquile (Lake Titicaca) ! Hotels were all clean, comfortable, and conveniently chosen for ease of exploration. Restaurant recommendations were excellent, and we had a ton of fun exploring new foods and drinks along the way. Honestly we can't say enough wonderful things about this trip and Inca Expert Travel.

We found Inca Expert to be competitively priced and to provide an excellent return on our investment. Luxury accommodations in Peru are very worth the money. Debbie's suggestions made for a well-paced 12 days, with occasional downtime intermingled with a full schedule of activities. I would suggest deferring to the Inca Expert's suggestions as they have helped many tourists have great experiences. Lastly, I want to say how appreciative we were of Debbie's responsiveness. All our questions were answered quickly, thoroughly, and informatively. We recommend this agency without reservations.

We just got back from 2 weeks of a very active holiday in Peru coordinated by Inca Experts. This trip was 3 years in the making cue to COVID; the trip was rescheduled at least two or three times (I lost count) and Inca was there every step of the way with excellent attention to the ever-changing details. Our reps listened to how we like to travel, what we wanted to do and some of our preferences. They planned a perfect trip.... we hiked the Inca trail with just us and our guide... amazing guide at that! Jose was super knowledgeable and shared his passion for his culture and history. We had a 2-day organic conversation where we learned so much... vs. seeing other folks at Machu Picchu sitting on the ground with a guide looking at flip charts. We walked through history and soaked in the experience. Perfect for us!!!! We climbed Sky Lodge, hiked the trail, rode Paso Fino horses (check that breed off my list), went ATVing, paragliding... you name it, we did it. ALL of our guides were fabulous and took excellent care of us. We had two slight hiccups, which were quickly resolved by calling the 24/7 English speaking support line. This is the true test of a service company... how do they handle issues. I can say our issues, albeit small, were taken seriously and resolved immediately... our trip did not delay, or was it impacted by the issues. They did a great job keeping us on track! Highly recommend Inca Experts to plan your dream Peruvian holiday.

We took the 17-day ‘Great Regions of Peru’ trip offered by Inca Expert Travel and added two additional days in the Amazon at the end. In a word the trip was fantastic! As other reviewers have noted, the planning, responsiveness, execution and attention to detail organized for us by Leila Dancuart our travel consultant in Lima were impeccable, the guides very knowledgeable, friendly and patient, the pace, content and duration of the tours were just right, and the drivers were always prompt, easy to find on pickups and also very skilled. The accommodations too were all very good. It didn’t hurt either that the weather cooperated throughout the entire trip! All in all, a very good experience. We learned a lot and, based on our experience, would highly recommend Inca Expert Travel to anyone.

Everything Inca Expert Travel did was perfect. All of the transfers were as promised, guides were always on time (a little early, actually), and everything went smoothly. The guides I had in the Amazon jungle were extremely knowledgeable about birds and other aspects of nature, and that enriched the experience of being there. I had never used Inca Expert Travel before, but I was very impressed with their professionalism, attention to detail, and their fast response time to my emails and calls.
