Excellent trip to Peru

My family of three just got back from a fabulous trip to Peru. We worked with Liz to plan the trip. Everything was great -- accommodations, restaurants, guides, and transfers. Everything was planned so wonderfully that we never had to worry about anything. Liz was great in helping us plan and make decisions. I highly recommend Incas Expert!

Fabulous time in Peru

Everything was excellent. Our transfers were all on time and the guides were very knowledgeable. When we arrived in Lima too late for our flight to Cusco, Rachel had already arranged a transfer and a room at a Lima hotel. She also rescheduled our chocolate workshop after we missed the first day of our trip. We loved the hotels, especially Sol y Luna and our Inca Trail hike with Miguel was incredible. With a group of 10, ages 9-73, it was so much easier to have Incas Expert taking care of all the logistics. Once we were all there, we were able to spend our time enjoying Peru!

Epic trip could not have been better!

My 14 year old son and I completed a bucket list trip from June 30 through July 21 this year all across Peru. Incas Expert Travel planned the entire trip and we could not be happier. It was the perfect trip and every detail was scheduled so we had no questions or issues at all. Throughout the trip we had several group and private tour guides, all of which were super nice and knowledgeable. I cannot think of anything I would change. Rachel, our travel adviser was awesome to work with and even met us in Lima. The highlights were the 4-day trek to Machu Pichu, Via Ferrata, Cusco, the Amazon and my son ate so much bread he was nicknamed Panito! It was a trip of a lifetime thanks to Incas Expert Travel!

Incas Expert Travel

Incas Expert Travel – Trip Date: June 16th thru June 27th 2019 James Gilmore Trip Advisor This was my first experience working through a trip advisor to plan a multiple city and multiple tour destination trip. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our experience and how James Gilmore, our trip advisor at Incas Expert Travel, assisted and partnered with us to help coordinate our 12 day vacation. We spent 2 nights and 1 day touring Lima, 4 nights and 3 days touring the Amazon rainforest, 2 nights and 1 day touring Cusco, 3 nights and 4 days hiking the Old Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and a final night in Cusco prior to catching our flight back to the United States. Things we liked about the trip itinerary and a few minor changes we would make if we were to do it over again: 1 day touring Lima was adequate for our liking. Highlights of our Lima tour was our visit to the Larco Museum and the San Francisco church and its historical catacombs. These are 2 must sees while visiting Lima as well as having a nice lunch at the Larcomar shopping center overlooking the Pacific Ocean watching surfers hone their skills. Our tour guide, Janet, could not have been more knowledgeable and I would highly recommend her to anyone touring Lima. Our visit to the Amazon Rainforest was highlighted by our stay at the Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion. Inkaterra Concepcion is an amazing place to stay with their private Cabanas and their local rainforest expert, Mirko, made our visit there exceptional. While we stayed there for 4 nights and 3 days, if I were to do it over again would recommend staying only 3 nights and 2 days. You definitely could see the majority of what Inkaterra has to offer with the shorter duration. Our trip to Cusco prior to hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was too short when trying to get our bodies adjusted to the altitude in the mountains. We basically, only had 1 ½ days for our bodies to try and adjust and that was just not enough time. I was surprised about how the altitude really did impact that majority of first time visitors. Therefore, I would really recommend at least 2 full days and 3 nights in Cusco prior to a challenging hike like the Old Inca Trail. With that said, Machu Picchu and the Old Inca Trail was the highlight of our trip and it is definitely a must see for those looking for a challenging trek with amazing vista scenery. Wayki Trek was responsible for our Old Inca trail hike and Louis, a Cusco native, was our trek tour guide. Wayki Trek and its entire trek team/staff, from the porters to the chef, were amazing. I have never seen any group / team / brothers, as they like to call themselves, work so hard to provide to our every need / desire. Louis, our hiking guide, was top-notch and I would highly recommend anyone hiking around Cusco to leverage Wayki Trek and Louis. A highly professional / high quality organization for sure! In closing; James Gilmore and the Incas Expert Travel organization did an exceptional job coordinate our first visit to Peru. The logistics were well planned, organized and communicated. When you are relying on multiple companies/parties to deliver a personalized and private vacation to the demands of a daily / hourly schedule Incas Expert Travel made it look easy and seamless. Thanks James for all your efforts and making our Peru vacation an extremely satisfying experience - one we will never forget.

Trip of a Life time!!

I had done a long research with different travel agency. And I am glad that I chose Incas Expert Travel. From the beginning to the end, our trip advisor James Gilmore planned our itinerary base on what I like to see from each cities and booked all five stars hotel for us. Everywhere we went in Peru, we had a nice big van for our own group of 14 peoples. The driver and the tour guys are all very experience and professional. Even when we call for their emergency phone number late night to change our plan for next day due to altitude sickness issues. They have someone on call at night to answer your question and guide you if any problem. Incas Expert takes care all the detail everything we need for our tour, transportation, train ticket, domestic flight, ticket to Machu Picchu. Peru is definitely a adventure trip with lots of hiking on the mountains everyday on our itinerary but there is also tons of shopping to do in Peru as well. Incas Expert Travel has the best services, reliable, reasonable price packages and I would definitely recommend this travel agency to all my friends and family.

Fantastic Experience

Reviews are most useful to me when I have sense of who is writing them, so a bit about me. I'm in my forties and have traveled extensively as a child, single adult, married man and now, best of all, as a father of two boys, ages 12 and 14. I've experienced many of the travel options, including large group tours, small boutique tours, and planning and executing my own arrangements. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to get our arrangements for a family vacation in order far more quickly than I have in the past, i.e., less than six weeks, and knew that I wouldn't have the time to plan the trip the way I would have liked, yet alone make all of the arrangements. And while every minute of the day doesn't need to be scheduled six months in advance, I am a planner. I do want to know when I am going to be somewhere, how long I plan to stay, the main things to do and see, and have a place to stay. Every minute doesn't have to be maxed-out, but at the same time I don't want to find myself in, say Peru, but unable to secure tickets to Machu Picchu. Knowing this about myself I decided to give the old idea, which has become new again, of using a travel agency to do the work for me. I wasn't certain what to expect, but hoped that the outcome would be far superior to whatever minimal planning I would have the time to do. So, I did something I never do—clicked on a Google ad link—and found Incas Expert Travel. James Gilmore, our assigned travel advisor, responded within hours with an email and a basic itinerary. He then called me to discuss it and get a better sense of my family group and what kind of vacation we wanted. He was a wealth of knowledge about Peru and travel arrangements, answered all of my questions, and tweaked the proposal to better suit our desires. We emailed a few times back and forth, finalized the itinerary, and I booked the trip. I’m not a trusting fellow and this was easy. Way too easy. Internet, developing nation, plane tickets and tours, drivers, reasonable prices. If it sounds too good to be true… But it was! In fact, I am still surprised at how smoothly everything went. My first question upon returning home was to James, and it was, “What other trips can you put together for us?” Before the trip my conversation with my wife (who, being twice the planner I am was four times as unsettled by the idea of outsourcing the arrangements) was along the lines of, “When will the other shoe drop?” During the first few days of the trip it was, “Ok, the driver was waiting at the airport and the guide did show up on-time for yesterday’s tour and do a great job, but the next hotel probably won’t be as good as this one, and our plane reservations probably won’t be sufficient when we get to the airport.” But none of these fears ever came to pass. Everything went perfectly. So here is a brief summary of our trip and some details about Inca Travel’s role in it. I provide it because everyone should have a vacation as wonderful as we did, without having to do any of the heavy lifting. We flew to Lima and toured there, flew to Cusco and toured there, took a day trip for rafting and zip-lining, took the train to Aguas Calientes, "did" Machu Picchu and made various other stops. Everything promised was delivered: Airport transfers were seamless--Having a driver at the airport in Lima and Cusco to pick you up and take you to your hotel, help you get checked in, or on the return, taking you to the right spot in the airport, was enormously helpful. No worries about finding a taxi at the airport, whether or not the driver is legit, haggling over prices, or on the return, wondering if they will pick you up on time from the hotel Tours--All the guides were first rate. Knowledgeable, pleasant, and kind. All of the vehicles were in good repair with working a/c, from a seven person van to a 21 person mini-bus (everyone got their own row!). The tours and day trips were also all private; just the missus, the kids and me. Hungry? Let’s stop here. Seen enough Inca ruins, kids? Let’s go to the market a bit earlier. Want to meet your cousins from New York City who, unbeknownst to us until we saw the Facebook post, were also vacationing in Peru? Arrange to meet them at Maras in the Sacred Valley (true story). Tickets--All in-country were secured by Incas Expert Travel in advance, including those for Machu Picchu, train rides, airline tickets and museum tickets. They were bundled together for each of the four of us and provided to us upon arrival. The guides then took what was needed for the day, the drivers took us to the locations, the guides handled the lines (which we pretty much skipped), and then gave us the tours. Logistics--It is impossible to overstate how wonderful it was to have not only the transportation arranged, but thoughtfully so. Which train do I need to take, and from where, and at what time, in order to arrive at my destination in order to catch the bus to the site in order to catch the tour? And where do I book those tickets? Online, on-site? What about visiting that other site on the same day? Is it close enough to do so, and if so, how will we get there and back, and at which hotel should we spend the night? Well, I didn't have to think about it, yet alone actually do it, because it was all done. Not only was it done, but it was done in a way that everything flowed smoothly along and we found ourselves feeling that we had enjoyed a good-days travel, but not exhausted ourselves doing so. Hotels--We went with the four-star level and all of the hotels were exactly that, plus well located in the town or city. The included breakfasts were a nice touch and uniformly very good. Price—I did not shop every hotel for rates, or calculate the costs of all of the museum tickets, or price out various river rafting excursions, so I cannot tell you what, if any, premium we paid for having Inca Travel do all the work. I can tell you that I did some thumbnail calculations along the journey, and every time I did, I smiled. Could I have done it all myself for less? Possibly. Would I have had the time to do it? Nope. Would I have stressed myself out trying? Yup. Would I have gotten all of the hotels and travel times right? Nope. Would I have been able to secure admission to Machu Picchu at such a late date? Probably not. Does any company that provides a service, especially a specialized and outstanding one in a foreign land that makes your wife and kids happy and creates memories for a lifetime deserve to earn a bit of money? Yup. I could continue, but what I’ve written is probably sufficient for you to decide whether or not using Incas Expert Travel is right for you. So with that, happy trails. --AAM
