I owned my Reckon desktop software…

I owned my Reckon desktop software outright. Fully purchased desktop version that I have used 2 iterations of 2013 and then had to buy 2017 version outright. Last year they decided to move to on-line only system and crippled desktop versions- as they will no longer reactive the Desktop version when it's due ( usually every 2 years). Previously the outright program owner had to call and they supplied the reactivate code. Now they want to force us to pay $750 a year for the on-line only version. Disgraceful. Unethical. Is it even really legal. Like Holden turning up and taking the engine out of my 2017 Commodore.

I have been using Quickbooks/Reckon for well over 25 years when I was doing the accounts for our very small family business. My son has been doing it for some years now & I continued "the old version" that I was comfortable with for our personal accounts. I spoke to Ajinder recently regarding my Reckon account due in March. She explained "Reckon Hosted" to me so I decided to give it a try!!! She rang me this morning to guide me through the process. Ajinder was lovely on both occasions, and was an "extremely" patient young lady with me the "ageing lady!!! Thank you Ajinder.

i simply bought a desktop version of premier(Told no subscription)and I could use it for many years to come then after three years I was told I need to enter a new key and found out I need to now pay a subscription or my software is useless,This company lied to me on several occasions,stay clear and try another company that honors agreements with customers

The software is not user friendly

The software is not user friendly, but i accept that you get what you pay for. Yes it is affordable put it has cliches. The support team most of them are nice and try to help within the scope reckon allows them. The biggest flaw i found was that if you are in invoices and have a new item code to add, of which that item code must point to it own chart of accounts, reckon takes you to a window that is a dead end. You cannot add the new chart where reckon takes you. Item codes must point to its own chart of account if you wish to see your sales according to each item as reckon intended it to work. What that means is that you will need to close the invoice window, make sure you have saved your work first, then click on the side tab to create that new item code with the new chart of accounts can only be done there. After you have created it, you can go back to that invoice and use that item code, this is from a 2023 online software taking you to a dead end without explanation without warning, and leaving you there to figure it out. sad...... Sad they cannot fix this flaw instead of taking you to a dead end which forces you to close your work on invoices to go somewhere else to add the item and chart acct.... Even after advising reckon they did not care to fix it. All that was said is thats how it is. Yet they prompt it online as a new age software...

after going online we have experienced…

after going online we have experienced nothing but issues with reckon and the company itself. They refuse to fix the bugs slowing it down constantly and are condescending and rude to deal with.

Helpful support call

The Professional Partner Representative I spoke to, Alexander, was very helpful and solved my problem efficiently via remote login. Very happy with the experience.
