Over £400 for a 3 port valve replacement!

Called them to repair the boiler for my disabled tenant. Charged £42 call out to attend by 18.30. At 16.30 they called to say they wouldn't be there that day but would attend next day! When they finally turned up they diagnosed the exact fault that I had already told them it was and tried to charge well over £400 to replace a standard 3 port valve. At most this would be £100 for the part and an hours labour and most likely only ever needed the head sorting anyway! Found price of part at £85. Even with an exorbitant hours labour at £210 (!)this is well less than the £400+ quoted. £210 an hour and 100% plus mark up on parts. Guess some people will just say yes not knowing better.

My sister is disabled and was ripped off!

My sister is disabled, and has very little money to spare. A leak was suspected from her flat, so I called MJ Harris who after taking a £42 call-out fee sent a plumber to locate the leak (he failed to turn up on the day) when he did he failed to find the leak. I was horrified he charged £210 per hour!!!! My sister's management company, worried about the leak, visited her flat and, despite not being a plumber, found the leak (a faulty washer in her lavatory cistern) in 5 minutes!!!! I spoke to the plumber on the phone (I live quite a distance from my sister) and even asked if it could be a leak from the toilet....he said no!!!! I'm disgusted by my disabled sister's treatment by MJ Harris - she now has to employ another plumber to fix the leak....this time recommended by the management company of her flat. MJ Harris have now refunded her money.

Repair to hot water supply

Efficient telephone response when making booking. Engineer took time to listen to the problem and explain what might need doing. Had to get parts but returned to complete the repair and showed me the faulty parts. Very polite and careful throughout repair.

Very pleased.

Very pleased with the recent removal and fitting of a bath and the following week the complete replacement of the shower.Such a difference...plumber was on time,rang ahead of his arrival,worked so hard with minimum disruption.Removed all the old fittings and tidied up.Pleasant customer service.Would definitely recommend to others.

Excellent communication from the office…

Excellent communication from the office and the plumber who arrived to fix the problem. The issue was solved quickly and payment was arranged promptly. We received a receipt and a 3-month guarantee. Brilliant service and a friendly, helpful plumber.
